"What were you thinking, Allegra?!" Her mother, Gwen Hunch, asked her as she sat on the counter in the kitchen, "How could you challenge the Alpha King? What would happen to you now?"
"Oh my, oh my" her mother kept on saying as she paced the length of their kitchen, her hands raking through her hair.
"Calm down, honey, I am sure it is not as grave as we think" Her father, Nick Hunch was saying to her mother trying to soothe her, "You know our Allegra, she is probably just exaggerating things".
No I am not, she wanted to say but held her words back as she saw the hopeful look spring into her mother's eyes at her father's words.
"You really think so?" her mother asked hopefully, "That perhaps this is just some prank and there is really no big deal, Allegra would not be facing any serious punishment and our lives would go on as usual, right dear?" she asked as she turned to Allegra.
Allegra wanted to shake her head 'no' as it really was that serious and she had no idea what it is going to mean for her and her family; the Alpha King is not the nicest of persons, you see, and he does not take nicely to any form of insult to his person or person, as such Allegra is in really deep shit. She was going to tell this to her mother and had already opened her mouth to speak when there was a knock on the front door.
"I'll get it" her father said as he rushed out of the kitchen to go get the door.
Allegra wondered who could be at the door this early in the morning on a Saturday, as she wasn't expecting anyone and doubted her parents were. Somehow in a gut she feared the unexpected visit had something to do with the events of yesterday night at the diner. She didn't have to wait long to find out however as her father returned in less than a minute with a fancy scroll in his hand, the type used by the Alpha king only to send important letters to his subjects; it could be an important message of the very good kind or one bearing a very dire message, never something in between or trivial. She hoped that it would bear a message of the first kind, however, she doubted that hope.
"Oh, what does it say?" her mother asked as her father continued to read the scroll in silence, his eyes seeming to grow wider at every word he read. It definitely was bad.
"Allegra has been summoned to the royal villa by the Alpha King himself" her father said solemnly as he finished reading
"Oh, no!" her mother cried out as she began dramatically wailing. If Allegra didn't know she was the Allegra the scroll was referring to she would have thought that it was her mother who had been summoned with all the way she was wailing, pacing and being generally dramatic.
"Okay, so, it is not a punishment as we had thought" Allegra finally said, "I have been summoned by the Alpha King himself, it can be that bad. Perhaps he just wants an apology"
"Right?" she added nervously when she saw the shocked looks on her parents faces and how they froze at her words.
"Oh dear she has no idea" her mother said, her eyes looking scared and pitying her at the same time.
"She is completely clueless" her father said quietly, looking bewildered.
Allegra from her mother to her father, "what?" she asked, now curious and more scared of hat the message of the scroll may mean for her.
"My dear," her mother was saying as she walked up to where she sat at the kitchen counter, as she got to her she held her cheeks in both hands as she said, "The Alpha King barely has any use for human women and would only ever summon one to the royal villa for two reasons" her mother visibly shuddered as she spoke of the reasons, this only served to pique Allegra's curiosity even more.
"What are the reasons, mom?" she asked
"Oh, you would rather not know, believe me, dear"
"I am not so sure about that" Allegra replied, "I am the one who have been summoned remember, I think it's better I know what to expect"
Her mother looked at her for long with so much pity in her eyes as she squeezed her cheeks together, just when Allegra thought she was going to explain the two reasons, she rushed her in a tight hug and began to sob again saying, "Oh dear, oh my poor Allegra"
"Mom" Allegra called to her, not liking the tight hug or the crying on her, plus her mother was still leaving her in the dark
"Dad?" she looked to her father for help as her mum won't budge.
Rather than coming to her aid, her father brushed a hand roughly through his short dark hair, looking saddened and frustrated by the whole ordeal. "What have you done, Allegra? Did you forget rule number two?" he asked as he looked at her, his voice far from the scolding tone that would normally be expected to accompany such words.
Never had Allegra seen her father look with such emotion in his eyes, it wasn't exactly disappointment, no that wasn't it. Rather it was the kind of look one would give a poor foal that got itself wounded so bad that it would now have to be put down.
