Chapter 6 - His Proposition

"Stop being funny, I haven't asked anything of you yet" the Alpha King said to Allegra who had been begging for him to let her go from the moment he told her to sit down.

"I don't know what you want from me, Alpha King, but I cannot do it, really" she pleaded, the Alpha made to talk but she didn't give him the chance as she continued speaking, "I have never had a boyfriend or…"

"Stop, stop" he cut her off, "what, you think I want you as my mistress or something?" he asked looking completely insulted at the laughable idea

"I... I thought so… is that not why I am here?" she asked, because she really thought that is the direction he was headed.

He laughed at her, and when he didn't stop her face morphed into a frown.

"How the…" he continued laughing, much to Allegra's annoyance. Soon he sobered up and gave her an entirely demeaning look as he stood and went around his table to stand directly in front of her, his back slightly leaning on the desk, his voice condescending as he spoke.

"You are somewhat pretty for a human, I suppose that is why you would even think such a thing" Allegra scoffed at his words, she wasn't somewhat pretty for a human, she was pretty in every way even for werewolf standards. For Faeriekind standard, on the other hand, that was a different ball game altogether, even werewolves didn't compare.

His face no longer held any hint of playfulness, as he leaned down, bringing his face to hers, "But, make no mistake, puny human, I want no such thing to do with you. You can't handle me anyway"

The defiant side of her scoffed at him as she said, "Try me" immediately the words left her mouth she realized what she had said and put a hand over her mouth. He only smirked at her.

"No need for that" he straightened his back once more, moving his face away from hers as he said, "You are here for a different reason all entirely, waitress."

He walked round the desk back to his seat on the other side and sat down, "You see, I heard that you make the best pot pouiree, despite being a mere waiter at the diner, and it just so happens to be my best dish. After my old cook died, I have been yet to get someone as good at it as she was and I heard you just might be as good, so I would like to see about that. And if the words I heard ring true, you would be hired as my personal cook" he finished and looked at her.

Something in the way he spoke made her feel that despite how it nearly sounded like a proposition, she had no say in the matter, it was more like a punishment than a job offer.

"I can't say no to this?" she asked, looking at him suspiciously not trusting his proposition

"You can say no if you want to, doesn't mean I would listen to your objection" he shrugged

"Okay" she simply said, at least it was better than what she had earlier thought, "So, if I heard you correctly, all I have to do is prepare some insanely good pot pouiree for you and that's it?" she asked, just to clarify things.

"Yes, basically" he said, looking tired of the entire conversation. "You resume tomorrow. Be here tomorrow morning by seven sharp with your belongings. Bring only decent clothing"

"Wait, what? Why would I be coming with my belongings?" she asked confused

The Alpha King shook his head slightly, "And here I thought you were at least average smart for a human", Allegra made a face at that and wasn't going to argue that but he held up his hand silencing her as he continued speaking, "Yes, waitress, you will be living with me, here, from tomorrow, understood?"

"Yes" she said sheepishly then shook her head, "I mean, no, I cannot leave here with you, I have my life, school, my job at the diner, do you know what commute to the university is like from here? I would miss all my classes and may have to repeat the year, and I am in my final year"

"I don't see how that is a 'me' problem" the Alpha King said, looking like he really had no care in the world about how he was about to disrupt her life even more. "Look, I have other things to attend to today, not all of us are as jobless as you are…"

"I actually do have a job and would have been at school now if you hadn't summoned me" she countered, before shutting her mouth a she saw the glare he shot her way.

"We are done here, I want to see you here by seven tomorrow morning with your necessary things, you may leave them behind if you want; they are all rags anyway, but know I would not be providing things for you" he said, retuning his eyes to some papers in front of him on his desk.

She didn't think her things were rag, she had very good taste in fashion and good, modern outfits as well, but she didn't voice this, rather she said, "First, I don't think I can be able to make it here by seven in the morning, it takes about two hours for me to get here from where I live, if there is too much traffic jam, more than that. Secondly, I already have a job and other personal engagements I earlier said, like you know, school. Thirdly, is this going to be like a regular job, like how much pay are we talking about here?" she asked, looking at him for answers.

"Are you done?" he shot back rather than answering her questions.

"And, I also want to know if this covers for what happened back at the diner on Friday" she concluded.

"Alright, I guess I will just answer and be done with this" he conceded, "I know where you live, waitress and I also know that if you wake up early enough you will beat traffic and make it here on time. Then for your second question, forget your job at the diner, your time with them is over and as for school, you can still attend your classes, but from here. What else? Oh right, this would not be just another regular job like the one you had at the diner, nonetheless, you would still have defined duties and your wages may be discussed later with the butler" he answered.

"Okay" she said, "Um, I guess I might be able to make it tomorrow then"

"You have no other choice, you do not want to know the repercussions if you don't, trust me. Leave" he said seriously and Allegra was reminded who she was talking to, with a slight nod, she turned to leave thanking her luck that it wasn't something more severe she was dealt, her mother was really worrying for no reason.

"Waitress" he called causing her hand to still on the door knob as she turned slightly to look at him, "Don't for any reason think that this covers for your misconduct back at the diner, oh no, you will still pay for that, just not yet" he said with a look on his face that made her know he was so very serious about that, she swallowed.
