Finally, after a night of discussion, they decided to set their sights on another city first.
As for this city, they couldn't keep the gates closed forever.
They would wait until the gates opened and then figure out a way to send people in to investigate the situation.
Once they gathered enough information, they would decide what to do next.
One result they never imagined was that over a hundred thousand PN soldiers would be completely wiped out overnight.
They thought the worst-case scenario would be that the soldiers were captured.
But the reality was far worse. Not only were all the PN soldiers killed, but by the time the city gates opened, they had already turned to ashes and been buried underground, stepped on by others.
The PN Official was waiting for a call from the Hua Nation side to negotiate, thinking about how to pay the smallest price to get his soldiers back.
He had no idea that the generals and officers he cared so much about had already been buried along with the regular soldiers.
So, trying to gather information was impossible.
From now on, not just soldiers, even regular people would avoid talking about it.
The sight of dead PN soldier bodies everywhere and rivers of blood had shocked them too deeply.
That night, Paige was very satisfied with her meal.
Even though the chefs in the military camp didn't have the best skills, the dishes were all hearty.
Also, the instructors who were training Winn and the others were already in place.
Sharpshooters, the camp had them. Academic classes, also available in the camp. Talents in other areas, still in the camp.
The training schedule was packed, and different people would take turns teaching them.
It sounded a bit unreliable, but it was actually the fastest way to learn.
They didn't have time for full, systematic training anyway.
If something was missing after the training, they could always make up for it later.
Winn and the other two began their busy learning schedule, while Paige started her peaceful and relaxing life.
For three days in a row, the enemy made no moves.
Paige had expected them to either attack directly, sneak in, or even fly planes in for a surprise attack. She had plans ready for all of it.
But to her surprise, they didn't show up at all.
Were they really that cowardly? Or were they secretly planning something bigger?
"You want to move out of the camp? Is there something you're not comfortable with? I can have my people fix it," Commander Ye asked nervously when he heard that Paige wanted to leave.
Right now, Paige was their anchor. With her around, everyone slept more peacefully.
Others didn't know Paige's true identity.
Everyone just knew that Paige and the others came to see Commander Ye.
Some people guessed she might be one of Commander Ye's relatives.
Probably someone who came for help because life elsewhere was too hard. Many had seen Winn and the other two fight in battles.
After the battle, Commander Ye had someone prepare special meals for the three of them, clearly planning to train them as his own trusted people.
As for Paige, since no one had seen her fight, they thought she was just tagging along.
She rarely left her room, so people assumed she was just doing chores.
Even if she was just doing chores, she had connections. No one dared to mess with her.
In the camp, everyone had heard there was a sharpshooter who could shoot down planes with one bullet. Most didn't know who it was.
Only a few people knew that Paige was that shooter.
Only the top few knew her real identity.
As for the extra supplies, the officers didn't need to explain them to the lower ranks.
It was enough that everyone had food and resources.
The few people who did know had already agreed to keep it a secret. No one was allowed to talk.
It wasn't just because Paige asked them to. It was also for her safety.
If the enemy found out about her, the consequences would be unimaginable.
No matter how strong Paige was, she was still just one person, and she had three burdens with her.
That was one of the reasons they were willing to actively train Winn and the others.
If they couldn't help, at least they shouldn't hold her back too much.
"Do you think there's anywhere here that's actually comfortable?" Paige looked at Commander Ye with curiosity.
That one question left Commander Ye speechless.
This was a military camp; it definitely wasn't meant to be comfortable.
Besides, they were the unit defending the city to the death. From the beginning, they never expected to leave alive, so all their energy had been focused on fighting.
As for other things, as long as they had food and a place to stay, that was enough.
"Is there an empty house in the city? Even though I moved out, I still have three people with me here. If there's a house in the city, it would be much more convenient for them to go home or for me to visit them," Paige asked.
Mainly, living in the city was just more convenient.
There wasn't even a house in the village, and if they went back, they would have to live in a cave.
Caves weren't convenient for water or daily life.
The city had electricity and running water.
It was much better than living in the mountains.
"A house? There is one. Do you have any requirements? How big should it be?" Commander Ye asked.
If the camp couldn't keep her, then at least keeping her nearby would be good enough.
He felt lucky again that he had agreed to train the three of them. That decision clearly paid off.
Now they had managed to keep this powerful person.
"No special requirements. As long as there are enough rooms, and it's best to have a yard. It has to be a standalone house. I don't like being disturbed. There should also be a room for servants. I don't like doing chores, and I'm not good at cooking either," Paige stated simply.
"The house is no problem. I'll send someone to clean it today, and you can move in tomorrow. Do you have someone in mind for the servant roles, or should I help you pick a few?" Commander Ye asked.
"If you have suitable people, help me arrange it first. If I'm not happy with them later, I'll change them myself. Make sure you find a good cook. Two is fine. Salary isn't an issue. The important part is that they must be good at cooking," Paige instructed.
"No problem," Commander Ye agreed.
With so many unemployed people in the city, finding two cooks was easy.
The only thing was, they had to investigate everyone's background very carefully.
"I'll be moving out to live tomorrow. I've asked Commander Ye to find us a place. I'll go check it out first, and if I'm happy with it, I'll come back tomorrow evening to pick you up," Paige shared the good news with Winn, Ely, and Uziel that night.
"Paige, why are you moving out? If you do, will we still be able to see you every day?" Ely groaned.
She was his only family left, and he didn't want to be away from her even for a second.
Even though he was busy training during the day and didn't see her, just seeing his sister at night made him feel calm inside.
"Don't be silly. I'm not going far. It's still in the city. We can ask Commander Ye to send a car for us. After training in the evening, we go home. In the morning, we drive back."
"By the way, do you know how to drive?" Paige asked.
Winn and Uziel nodded.
Ely nodded, then shook his head.
