Paige went from enjoying it at first to gradually becoming irritated.
The reason was that she got stuck at the upgrade point.
She could clearly feel that she was just about to level up, even sensing the threshold, but she just couldn't break through.
Maybe this was what people called a bottleneck.
It seemed that everything she didn't go through in her last life was going to hit her in this one.
Paige's frustration made Winn feel unsure of himself.
"I... I'll try harder next time," Winn said cautiously.
Paige was still annoyed about not leveling up. When she suddenly heard Winn say that, she was momentarily confused.
But she wasn't the type to take her frustration out on others.
So she said to Winn, "I was just thinking about something. It wasn't aimed at you."
Paige softly comforted the man who had been exhausted by her all night.
When it came to her own people, Paige was always patient.
In the apocalypse, human life was as cheap as grass, but she didn't like that feeling at all.
Still, the world was what it was. She had to go with the flow.
But she was always kind to her own people.
Being praised in so many ways by the woman he loved made Winn a little embarrassed.
People were more reserved with their feelings now. No matter how much they liked someone, they usually didn't say it out loud. They just showed it through actions.
Since it was still early, Winn held Paige again, and the two of them got back into it.
Inside the cave, it was passionate and warm.
Outside the cave, snow was falling heavily.
Just when Paige had almost given up hope.
Crack
The level two barrier loosened, and Paige successfully leveled up.
She finally leveled up.
Powerful spiritual energy surrounded the two of them, wrapping them in a mysterious force.
Winn suddenly felt even more energized.
After staying up all night, Winn looked especially refreshed. He said to Paige, "You rest for a while. I'll go make breakfast. I'll come back to call you when it's ready."
"Okay." Paige lazily lay on the bed. It was snowing, going out was inconvenient, and there wasn't much to do, so she decided to keep resting.
Paige watched Winn walk out, then happily went back to sleep.
Uziel hadn't been sleeping very well because he had something on his mind.
When his brother came out of Paige's room, he woke up, but didn't open his eyes.
His brother had stayed in Paige's room all night. He felt a bit jealous and didn't know what to do.
After lying there for a bit and feeling bored, he got up as well.
There was a fire burning in the cave, and they had new cotton clothes, so Uziel didn't feel cold at all.
He glanced at his brother, snorted, and went to the entrance to brush his teeth.
Paige had said that hygiene was important. Washing hair, bathing, brushing teeth, washing the face and hands were all basic habits.
Winn didn't respond to Uziel's attitude. He knew his younger brother's temper. This was all that was left of it.
If he ignored him, he'd come around on his own in a few minutes.
"Brother, tonight you keep an eye on Ely," Uziel said after finishing brushing his teeth and walking up to Winn.
"Alright," Winn agreed without hesitation.
Ever since they decided the two brothers would be together, he had already prepared himself for this.
The snow today was falling fast and heavy. In no time, it was knee-deep.
Thankfully, Paige had bought two large water tanks, or else getting water would've been a real problem.
Roasted sweet potatoes went perfectly with snowy days.
So the fire pit was filled with several sweet potatoes.
These were Uziel's emergency rations hidden in the mountains.
He didn't expect them to turn into snacks now.
The roasted sweet potatoes had a charred skin, but once peeled, golden flesh was revealed inside.
The aroma spread instantly.
Paige couldn't wait to grab a roasted sweet potato from Uziel and took a big bite, flashing him a sweet smile.
Ely was confused. His sister and Uziel were getting along really well.
Could Uziel become his brother-in-law?
Wouldn't Winn be heartbroken?
Ely secretly glanced at Winn. He hadn't noticed the interaction between Paige and Uziel.
Ely started to struggle inside. Should he tell Winn?
Better to face reality early, give up sooner, and not fall too deep.
By evening, the snow had stopped, but it was still thick outside, so it wasn't suitable to go out.
And it was getting dark soon, so it wasn't a good time to leave.
Inside the cave, they had food and drinks, and the four of them had no reason to go out.
Because they had spent the whole day just eating and relaxing, Ely was still energetic at night and dragged the others into chatting.
In the end, Winn and Uziel pretended to sleep and ignored him, so Ely finally fell asleep.
Paige had already gone back to her bed.
There wasn't even a stool outside, so how could anything beat her cozy bed?
Once Ely fell asleep, Uziel couldn't wait and quietly got up to go to Paige's room.
He tiptoed inside and saw Paige lying there with her eyes closed, looking like she was asleep.
He watched for a moment and thought she was really asleep, so he turned to leave.
Even though he wanted to stay the night, he couldn't just sneak in while she was sleeping.
What if she woke up in the middle of the night and got scared?
"Where are you going?" Uziel's hand was grabbed.
"I thought you were asleep. I didn't want to disturb you," Uziel said, a little embarrassed.
"I can't sleep if you don't come," Paige said, moving over to make space for him.
Uziel blushed deeply at Paige's straightforward words.
Why was Paige suddenly like this?
Uziel didn't know what to say. This side of Paige was completely different from what he knew, but he strangely liked it.
Paige looked up at him with curiosity.
Uziel hugged her gently and said, "Let's sleep. It's warmer when I hold you."
Paige almost laughed out of frustration. Sneaking into her room in the middle of the night just to sleep?
They were still newlyweds.
"Let me see if he's asleep.
Oh, still awake. Full of energy.
I thought he was tired too."
Paige said with a mischievous smile.
"Not sleeping anymore?" Uziel asked with a hoarse voice.
"I am. I'm about to sleep. How could I not?" Paige turned away, ignoring him.
"About to sleep means you're not asleep yet. I can help you sleep better," Uziel whispered.
He didn't expect his own words to make his face turn red. Even he felt a little embarrassed.
Paige touched his abs. His body was really good.
No wonder. Years of physical labor made his body even better than some people who trained professionally.
Paige turned around, and Uziel didn't let her speak anymore.
Young people had good stamina. The only thought left in Paige's mind was that.
She had already leveled up yesterday, so she wasn't thinking about it today and focused completely.
Just one curtain away, Winn kept his eyes tightly shut, but he could still hear their quiet whispers from inside the room.
He couldn't hear exactly what they were saying, but he could hear their occasional laughter.
Last night, Paige didn't seem to laugh that happily.
Winn shook his head. Why was he thinking like this?
That was his brother.
Wasn't it better for the family to get along? Did things have to turn into conflict?
He repeated this to himself over and over, building up his mindset, and finally felt a little better.
