Chapter 1 - :Belle

A beautiful teenage girl kept running during the night. It was very late, and everyone was probably sleeping—except the ones chasing her.

She kept looking behind her with a frightened facade. She had run very far, that even if you looked, you wouldn't see anybody behind her.

Trying to catch her breath, she stopped running and began walking slowly; however, she noticed someone's shadow behind her.

She veered around, her skin immediately turning pale as her eyes met with the also pale-skinned man. She was scared, but he was a vampire—judging by his fangs as well.

"P... Please, I beg you, don't hurt me," the beautiful girl muffled. She stepped back slowly but bumped into someone behind her. This man was growling very low, but she could hear him because he was only inches from her body.

"You should have thought of that before you started following Williams. Didn't we warn you yesterday not to go near him?"

"I'm... I'm sorry, I just love him, and he loves me too."

"Sorry won't help you, missy. It's an oath of the coven. Williams broke the code. We warned you. You still met with him, so the coven sent us."

Accompanied by her muffles and tears, she brought out her cellphone. But before she could speed-dial William, a word from them stopped her.

"Are you planning to call Williams? He has already broken the oath. If he does more to protect you, we would have no choice but to kill him," said the vampire in front of her, making it crystal clear.

She didn't know what to do anymore. If Williams came here, she knew he'd protect her, but that was risking his life as well. She fell on her knees, covering her face as she kept on crying.

"It's okay, it's okay. Don't worry. I'll make sure to suck you dry quickly—it won't hurt," the vampire smiled, caressing her neck as she kept on crying. His fangs came out, and his eyes turned blood red, ready to dig in.

——————————

Midtown High School was the best trending school right now, and also Belle's father was living in Midtown, so schooling here was more of a good choice.

A beautiful girl with long white hair and light red eyes, Belle was sitting at the back of the moving car, staring outside the window, and her dad was driving.

"Hmm, you don't seem happy coming with me," said her dad. He could tell by staring at her gloomy face through the mirror.

Belle kept quiet for a while and sighed. "That's not it... it's just that I'll miss Mom and my friends."

"Oh, well, I heard Midtown is really friendly. You'll make a lot of new friends. Your cousin is also attending Midtown High."

"What? Williams?"

"You seem shocked, yes."

"Well, he isn't my cousin, and he bugs me too much. Why would he attend the same school as me?" Belle frowned and resumed staring outside the window.

Their father-and-daughter moments weren't really the best. Belle spent her childhood living with her mom, and even sometimes when she came for holidays, her father went hunting.

Her mom had to work overseas, which was why they decided to stay with her dad in Midtown and also attend the best school, which is currently Midtown High.

"Well, here it is, Belle—the beautiful villa," her father teased and laughed at his own terrible joke. "I'll get your stuff from the back."

Belle stood outside looking at the house. It wasn't much but also wasn't bad at all. She sighed when her dad groaned after lifting her luggage.

"Jesus, what do young ladies pack in their bags these days? Hahaha, just kidding, Belle."

"You don't have to help me, Dad. I can help myself with them."

"No, no, no need, Belle. You should go inside and get freshened up before William and his dad come."

"William and his dad are coming? Why?"

"Oh, I didn't tell you? Well, I have a hunt party soon, so I won't be available to enroll you in Midtown."

Belle thought of this as a typical act of her father, so she wasn't surprised. She just felt disappointed and walked inside the house to hit the showers.

After her bath, Belle's luggage was already in her room, so she took an all-black dress from it, then sat on the bed to call her mom.

"Hello, sweetie. How's the enrollment?"

"Hi, Mother. I haven't gone yet. How's London?"

"Everything is fine here, sweetie. I hope Isaac isn't giving you a hard time, okay? If he does, you better call me. If anyone does."

Belle laughed, and her mom also laughed before saying she wasn't joking. Then Belle heard her dad call for her, saying Williams and his dad were already here.

"Okay, Mom, I gotta go. I'll call you after the day passes by."

"Okay, sweetie. Love you."

"Love you more, Mother."

After ending the call, when Belle was coming down the stairs, she stopped, hearing the conversation between her father and William's.

They were saying something about William feeling sad for losing his girlfriend to a wild animal, which was why she hadn't heard William's big voice yet.

He must be in the car. Now, Belle felt real pity for him.

"I'm telling you, Wilson, it has to be a bear that—"

William's dad faked a cough when he saw the beautiful girl coming down with a smile.

"Hey, why don't you wait for us in the car? Williams is there too," said her dad. Belle smiled and took her bag from the table before leaving the house.

Inside the back seat of the car, the gray-haired male, Williams, was looking outside the window, sadness written all over his face.

He didn't even know when Belle entered the car unannounced—until she slightly punched him on the shoulder.

"Hey, you're here. What's up? How was the trip?"

"Good, good. Fair weather," said Belle. They both kept quiet for a while until Belle spoke and broke the suffocating silence.

"I heard what happened. I'm sorry."

"Oh, they told you?"

"Not really, just accidentally heard you lost your girlfriend to a wild beast."

Again, the atmosphere was tense, and neither of them said anything. However, what Williams said next gave Belle goosebumps and shock.

"It wasn't an animal. They were vampires, Belle."
