Chapter 24 - Chapter 25.

Nyx froze for a split second, then the corners of his mouth slowly curled into an impish smile, his eyes glinting dangerously, "You can be an interesting human."

Ellis didn't respond, just picked up his book and turned towards the study.

Nyx looked at his back and gently narrowed his eyes, whispering to himself, "Interesting ... really interesting."

Over the next few days, Nyx continued his "daily routine" at the academy.

He would occasionally go to Ellis's classroom to sit for a while, and would occasionally wander around the academy, creating a little chaos for the apprentices. For example, he would make the apprentice's books fly by themselves, or make one of the sleeping students wake up and realize that he had turned into a singing bird.

Of course, every time he made a mess, someone would go to Ellis and tell him off.

And Ellis' response was always to calmly look at Nyx and say faintly, "Don't go too far next time."

Nix always smiled and coped with, "Don't worry, I've got it under control."

But he clearly didn't.

One evening, Ellis returned to his mentor's quarters after finishing his meeting and found Nyx sprawled out on the couch in the living room, boredly flipping through a magic book.

Hearing the door open, Nyx looked up at him and casually asked, "What's new today?"

Ellis put down the scroll in his hand and said lightly, "Your pranks are in the paper again."

Nyx smirked and propped his chin up, "Oh?What is it this time?"

"A student said that his teapot now reads poetry."Ellis spoke calmly, "He hasn't slept well in two days."

Nyx couldn't help but burst out laughing, "Hahahahaha, I forgot about that. But didn't you teach them the recovery spell?See, I've helped you again, helping you catch out a student who wasn't taking their studies seriously, even I know how to do that ..."

Ellis approached, looking down at him slightly, his tone unhurried, "Nyx."

Nyx raised an eyebrow, absently looking back at him, "Huh?"

Ellis paused, his tone flat, "Have you ever wanted to actually be evil?"

Nyx froze.

He looked into Ellis' eyes for a long time, then suddenly evoked an intriguing smile, "Ellis, what do you mean by asking that question?"

Ellis didn't answer, just looked at him quietly, his eyes as deep as night.Nyx stared into Ellis' eyes, his smile slowly tightening a bit as his eyes became subtle.

"Why are you asking this all of a sudden?"He asked slowly, his tone sounding like he was testing and playful.

Ellis didn't answer right away, he just looked at Nyx as if he was thinking about something.Nyx could sense that Ellis' gaze didn't carry prejudice or fear of demons like the others; there was only analysis in his eyes, and even a hint of faint interest, as if he were studying some rare magical phenomenon.

"I'm just curious."Ellis finally said calmly.

Nyx narrowed his eyes and let out a soft laugh, "Your human curiosity can be dangerous. It's not like I get to decide such things."

Ellis didn't answer, simply turning towards his desk and casually flipping open a heavy, ancient book, looking down at the words on it, his tone unchanged, "If you really want to be mischievous, why don't you use it in a more meaningful way."

Nyx sat up from the couch and crossed his legs, watching Ellis' back with interest, "Oh?Like what?"

Ellis casually flipped a page and said lightly, "There was a recent academic discussion about the Abyss at the academy, and many magicians are interested in the nature of demons and how the Abyss works."

Nyx raised an eyebrow slightly, "So?"

Ellis closed the book and turned to look at him, "If you really want to cause some trouble, why don't you go and 'educate' them about the Abyss yourself while they're discussing it."

Nyx blinks, then hooks a smile, "Let me go stir up some trouble?"

Ellis nodded, "If you wish."

Nyx propped his chin up in a pleasant smile, "Ellis, you're a funny one."

"Uh-huh."Ellis responded noncommittally, turning back to his book as if the offer was just a casual mention and didn't care if Nyx would go or not.

Nyx, however, was clearly coming around. He didn't have much love for those academy scholars in the first place, especially those humans who thought they had studied the Abyss.
