The lounge was quiet for a few seconds. Then Ellis stood up and turned to leave without hesitation. It really was time for him to go and try to coax Nyx back, he thought.
The prank the other day did go a little too far.It started because Nyx had been bored lately, and Ellis wasn't someone who would play with him anytime he wanted to, and the academy classes were too boring for him.So, he simply found his own fun.
At first, he'd just changed the murals in the corridors, making the stately, solemn portrait figures quietly change poses or wink at the students as they passed by, causing the timid freshmen to squeal in amusement.Later, he used his magic to switch the contents of all the books on the shelves, causing a group of students to open Basic Alchemy to find it filled with sour love poems collected by bards, while a professor studying literature saw serious alchemical recipes in a collection of poems.
These little pranks, while disruptive, were within acceptable limits, and the instructors, unable to find direct evidence, had no choice but to warn the students not to trust bookshelves and portraits that appeared to be "moving".
But the day before, Nix's pranks escalated.
He had turned the academy's most serious and unsmiling History of Magic professor - the old scholar who was famous for saying that "no one could doze off in his class" - into a robed black raven.A black raven in robes.
And that's not all, he attached speech magic to the raven so that it could only speak in chant.
So the next morning, when the professor flew into the classroom, landed on the desk, and opened his mouth to sing a melodious chant, the whole class exploded.
No one could hold back their laughter.
Even Ellis could barely hold back his forehead when he arrived after hearing the commotion.
Nyx was sitting by the window, swinging his legs around and looking at the "singing" raven on the stage with a devilishly sly grin on his lips.
"Nyx."Ellis called his name directly.
Nyx cocked his head at him, his smirk unabated, "What's wrong?Don't you think he's more interesting that way?At least the students won't be complaining about the History of Magic class being boring anymore."
Ellis took a deep breath, suppressing the veins that throbbed at the corners of his forehead, and said in a deep voice, "Change the professor back."
Nyx spread his hands with an innocent look, "But he can still teach now, and he's talking with more rhythm."
Professor Crow fluttered his wings angrily and sang shrilly, "Change me back - you - evil - demon!-!"
The students in the classroom had slumped over their desks in laughter, and some were even on the verge of gasping for air.
Ellis's patience was completely exhausted, and with a wave of his hand, he directly used his magic to undo Nyx's spell, and the professor's form returned to its original form in a burst of black mist, his face staring at Nyx with an iron face, and the veins at the corners of his forehead seemed to be about to burst out.
That day, Nyx had been severely reprimanded by Ellis.
Ellis had never been very angry with him, but at most he had coldly warned him to "not go too far".But this time, his tone was harsher than ever, even with a hint of cold hardness that he had never seen before.
"Nyx, you've been at the academy for quite some time, this is not the Abyss, not your playground."Ellis's tone was calm and low, his gaze as serene as the surface of a waveless lake, "Do you realize what you're doing?"
"Know."Nyx clasped his arms with a disinterested look on his face, "It's just a little joke, you humans are so rigid."
