Soon, Dezen resigned from the idea of making plants intelligent, and focused on creating spells, that will be useful while hunting animals. Then, he planned to make spell for the researches, which will hopefully help him create spells to improve his undead.
The creation took him a few weeks. During them, Dezen had to abandon some of the spells, due to his lack of knowledge regarding making them. Since he had to sacrifice many hours every day for this process, Dezen had to replace himself with undead bush, though he still was doing something from time to time.
The purpose of his first hunt, was to get at least 1 bird and a fox. However, he won't try to get too many of the undead, since he is not able to keep them. Dezen wants to get the bird, because he believes that even without spells, it could be used as a scout. The fox won't be used for fighting, at least not now. Dezen wants to make researches and tests with an animal, which shows intelligence, but is not too big for him to keep as an undead. Also, after Dezen does every test he wants, the fox will surely find some use.
When the day of hunt came, Dezen set out early in the morning, taking with him only a bag, with food and water. Since making spells can be treated as training magic, his mana reserves deepened, allowing him to use movement spells he made. Often, not all the time, he had to save something for the actual hunting, and in case of some unforeseen emergency.
While travelling, Dezen was thinking about the next spells he will make, what and how to do researches, and most important, his brother's safety. Although he is not really strong, not yet, Dezen fears that something could happen to Alex, while he is away. Because of it, he had left Alex with some safeguard. For this, Dezen did 2 things: the first, was making spell, that makes one's skin temporarily as hard as rock, it can be used on other beings, not only the necromancer; the second was turning tens of bugs into his undead, even though they don't possess too high battle strength, they could still work as some distraction, especially if the enter body, or attack the eyes. He even got some chelas, hoping they could infect the attacker.
After some time, which felt for him like an hour, Dezen finally found traces of the fox. Smiling, he closely examined them, and then, easily got to its lair, with the help of spells. There, the animal was resting, laying on its back, completely unprepared for any attack. Dezen immediately took the opportunity, and easily dealt with it.
After making the fox his newest servant, Dezen wandered around, looking for some bird. Soon, when he did, Dezen raised his hand, aimed with his first finger and shoot a small spike of green energy, that pierced through its head.
When he ended with turning it into undead, Dezen started heading back to his home, satisfied. The joy, that took him over, almost made Dezen not realize the change in his undead. The bird, which was sitting on his shoulder, acted like it was trying to hide in his clothes, at the same time, tweeting in his ear. The fox turned to the direction behind Dezen, and started growling.
Alerted, he looked behind, casting defensive spells at the same time. Even with the help of magic, he couldn't notice anything extraordinary, but trusting his undead, he picked up the fox and started running.
Soon, a magical creature went through this place, but Dezen was far away. Luckily, the thing wasn't after him, it was just passing by, so there was no risk of pursuit. Though, if it found any traces of human, it wouldn't mind eating one.
While going back, Dezen was wondering why his servants could sense the theart, and he couldn't. After all, they don't have any magic, but then, he realized that his spells doesn't affect strength of his senses, and the animals often happen to have them better than humans. Because of it, he decided to create spells that will do this in the future.
Back at home, Dezen rested a little and told Alex what happened. Then, for the rest of the day, he was testing and examining the fox, gaining this way knowledge, needed to make certain spells. He was also his first subject of modifications, but not foo many, and too complicated. After all, he wanted the fox to help Alex with work. Dezen was training his modification abilities on the bird, and partly on the bugs, but it was limited to making them venomous.
For the next week, Dezen was experimenting, checking which part of the body does what, and what he can get rid of. Also, he was experimenting with his servants as an undead, not knowing nor understanding what they really are.
During this week, he also spent many hours training his mana control. It was important, not only because it lets create better spells, but it also needed to start cultivating soul - process where mage "merges" his mana with soul, making the latter stronger and produce mana faster.
When he will finally get this ability, and develops his soul, Dezen planned to go for a real hunt, where he will get really strong undead.

After 2 weeks, Dezen decided to hunt once again. The reason for this, was that he didn't manage to make his undead bugs venomous. Dezen considered it as really important to grant Alex safety, and thus, he changed his plans.
Like the last time, he set out early in the morning, and was using movements spells, but constantly, not from time to time.
Finding the snake, called perisk didn't take him long, since he knew about one close to his village for years. Dezen encountered it eating some rabbit. The snake stopped for a moment, looked at him and tried to back off, not knowing what he will do. Dezen didn't let it happen, quickly approaching the creature and pressing it to the ground with his foot, before killing by beheading. Next, he picked up the rabbit, and tried to heal it. Luckily, it was still alive so Dezen succeeded, and then petted the animal before releasing.
Full of joy, he started walking back to his home, thinking what he will be able to do with that snake. At first, Dezen wanted to use the venomous bugs as guardians of Alex, but at some point he realized how useful they could be, and decided to use them for more than just this one task.
