During the next two weeks, Dezen ended modifying all the remaining undead, and began his attempts to create new magic. He believes that he may succeed in this undertaking, only because what he wants to make is close to the necromancy, and thus, the spells have similar structure and use. And making a spell of some magic is a key to get that magic.
What Dezen wants to achieve is Body magic, a magic that will allow him to modify his own body, and, he hopes, bodies of other humans and creatures. He is determined to do this now, because the later he tries, the harder it will be. And he didn't see any magical resources of magic like that in the batch, given to him by the Church of Alen. What is not so strange, since he is not one of them, therefore they will give him only the resources and knowledge of the common magics.
Basing on the spells he already made, Dezen copied parts of their structure using primordial mana, and then tried to fill the gaps. It was hard and time-consuming, because he could only assume what the remaining structure of the body magics spells are, and he wasn't sure how it works. The latter meant, that he wasn't sure if the way he want them to work is correct. For instance, let's say he is making a machine, but Dezen isn't sure whether the parts he created are meant for the machine he has in mind.
This process, and other things, such as learning magics via absorbing their mana took him 15 days. After they passed, he finally created forst "body magic spell". He could tell it was that magic, because the spell he made with primal magic was modifying his muscles as he wanted. The effects were just worse, than if he used mana of body magic.
Normally, when someone creates such a spell with primal magic, they immediately get new magic, but due to the necromancy, it didn't work for Dezen. Thus, he had to use it for a few seconds to finally get it. Now, it wasn't a big problem, but Dezen wondered whether in the future, he will have to wait for hours, what could results in wasting a lot of time, if the spell turns out to be incorrect. He also wondered if it is possible for him to become unable to kearn new magics.
Dezen would surely achieve it faster, if not the fact that Church of Alen was sending him assignments he had to fulfill. Luckily, none of them were really hard. Not until now, when he had to turn a few big and intelligent animals into undead for tests.
The same day he achieved new magic, he got that assignment. Thus he started modifying his own body as a preparation. The Church doesn't force him to get the tasks done as fast as possible, so there was no need to rush, and go immediately. Instead, Dezen set out the next day, and his purpose was pack of wolves, living in one of the forests close to his village. Dezen won't have to look for them himself, he already sent a few of his undead birds to find them, like scouts, so he only have to go in their direction.
Like the last time, Dezen was using movement spells, to get there faster. Close to the animals, he used hiding spells, and started planning which and how to take down first.
After a moment of planning, Dezen teleported to the one, that was alone at the moment, and attacked with glove made from green fire. It went through the animals ribs surprisingly easy, and then "exploded", covering most of the body, both in the inside and at the outside.
Because of the pain, the wolf made noise similar to scream, alarming other pack members. Dezen predicted it, so he was already setting spells-traps for them, while they were coming.
Ghe wolves came all together, what was good, because thanks to this, they didn't know that the ground there acts like a quicksand, thanks to the spell. Therefore, most of the got stuck in it. Only one somehow stepped on the trap that exploded, but Dezen paid no attention to it. Instead, he slowly walked to the immobilized wolves, at the same time widening and lengthening the fire, that was burning the wolf behind him. Combined with the night that has already fallen, the animals got even more terrified, and instead of roaring and growling, they got silent.
Dezen didn't want to kilk the whole pack - his mana production wasn't that big. He just chose one of them, killed with big spike of green fire, and turned all 3 corpses into his undead. Then he head back to his home, dispelling the traps after a few minutes.
Back at his home, Dezen started tests and researches, both his own and the ones sent by the Church of Alen.
Now, he was planning to focus on modifying undead wolves, to make their bodies humanoid. Dezen isn't a furry, nor have some perversion, he only wants them to be useful as servants. He even started studying brains, in order to make them more intelligent, though he won't be able to do anything in this direction in the closest time. His knowledge is just too little.
For the next week, Dezen focused on his own researches, and modifying bodies of his and Alex. When these 7 days passed, he got the next assignment from the Church of Alen.
Entering the church building, Dezen could see a male mage waiting. He approached the man with quick steps, showing this way, that he respects his time. They both greeted each other, and then the church mage started talking.
- This time we want to turn 5 magical creatures into undead, and modify them. - Saying his next words, the man handed him enchanted item, looking like a piece of paper. - The details are here.
Without a word Dezen investigated it, before asking.
- For what do you want to use them?
- I cannot tell too much, but they will be working at prison. The question is, whether you are capable of doing these modifications?
Dezen looked at the roof of the church, then at the floor, wondering.
- I am not sure. I have never before had undead that was magical creature, thus I do not know if there are some differences in modifying them, in comparison to the normal undead. - He stopped for a few seconds, thinking. - I assume the bodies are already prepared, can I turn them into undead now and do tests?
- Yes. We guess the whole process will take a few days, so we already prepared you a room where you can rest. If you are unable, we will wait until you create the needed spells. If you can do this now, I will send you back here, so you can tell your brother about this and prepare. - The mage created a portal, and they both walked in it.
The place he was taken to was middle-sized room, which seemed to be carved in a grey stone. Dezen couldn't tell whether he is underground, or inside of some mountain, because there were no windows, nor magical formation, that would transport air deep under the ground. The room was also perfectly illuminated, even though there were no lanterns. Against the wall, there were 5 stone tables, each with magical creature on it.
The creatures were all of the same species. Maybe 1.7-1.8 metres high, with hairless blue skin, that was in some places darker, in some lighter. The back of its bodies were lower than front, wirh shorter, but thicker legs. The heads were round, with entirely black eyes, something what worked like nostrils, but there was no nose, and wide mouth without lips, but with many small, balck teeth.
Dezen approached the closest corpse and turned it into undead. Luckily, there weren't any problems with it, nor with making modifications. He only had to spend more mana on it, what he told about the male mage.
- Can you do all the modifications?
- I will need a few days to make spells. Also, I will have to spend some time on cultivating. Perhaps 5 days will be enough. Otherwise, the lack of mana will make it longer, maybe 6-7 days.
The man nodded, and created portal to send Dezen back.
- You can take that undead with you. Farewell.
Dezen thanked, replied, and went through the portal.
Back at the home, he didn't immediately start cultivating, or creating spells. Instead, he started examining the undead creature.
Few hours passed, and he started preparing to copy structure of its tissues, and give it to his other undead. It was because magical creatures have strong bodies, thus it was great occasion to raise battle strength of his undead.
Dezen also thought if he could make the creature use its magical abilities, but after a few attempts it looked like he couldn't, due to the lack of the proper mana.
Regarding trying to take some of its body, and give it to his other undead (if someone thought about it)- he didn't even try. Dezen believed that if he did this, mana from the creature could merge with the whole body of the undead, and he didn't have any way to take it back. And he didn't want to find out what the Church of Alen would do, if he made one of these undead weaker, by stealing some of its mana. However, it made him wonder if he will be able to fill his undead with his mana, making them similar to magical creatures.
Unluckily, during the next days Dezen didn't have any more good ideas, so he just continued cultivating and made the needed spells. He also discovered that body of this undead takes more time to modify, but he wasn't sure whether it's because of how complicated it is, or is it because that creature was magical.
