Chapter 14 - Chapter 13: The Reckoning

There was tension on the drive back to Barduff Castle. Samuel took the lead, keeping a tight hold on Gwen's restrained wrists, while Leah trailed closely behind, her thoughts racing. The rustle of leaves beneath their boots was the only sound to break the dense silence between them.

Despite being in captivity, Gwen smirked. She said, "Jacob won't believe you," behind her back. "He adores me." And men become blind from love, Omega, my beloved.

Leah remained silent. She couldn't afford to be weakened by Gwen's remarks. She was aware of the reality, and Jacob would soon be as well.

The guards stiffened as they approached the castle gates, seeing their Luna restrained. One took a step closer, his eyes twitching with confusion. "What does this signify?"

Samuel slowly looked him in the eye. Call forth Alpha Jacob. Right now.

A few minutes later, Jacob walked into the courtyard with an unreadable expression. His eyes darted between Samuel, Leah, and the shackled woman in the middle. "Explain."

Leah inhaled deeply. Gwen has been deceiving you. Samuel's absence was caused by her family. She has been playing tricks on you and the pack.

Jacob's jaw tightened and his eyes darkened, but he remained silent.

Gwen gave a small laugh. "Are you truly going to believe these outrageous charges from weak omegas, darling?"

With a steely voice, Samuel took a step forward. "I have evidence." He extracted a faded sheet from his backpack. Documentation of my kidnapping. a statement from a Tail Wind Pack member who witnessed the interaction.

As he perused the documents, Jacob's hands were clearly getting tighter. There was a great hush in the courtyard.

At last he looked up at Gwen. "Is this accurate?"

Gwen's smile wavered, but she had it back in a flash. With a seductive voice, she stated, "We did what was necessary for this pack." "For you."

Although Jacob's face was unreadable, his voice was filled with subdued rage as he spoke. Go to the dungeons with her. She will be put on trial for her offenses.

After a brief moment of hesitation, the guards complied. The disgraced luna's screams reverberated across the courtyard as they pulled her away. "Jacob, you will regret this! I did all this for you, you ingrate!

Leah let out a long breath, a wave of relaxation passing over her. It was done. Or the worst of it, anyway.
