The beast lunged at Vahn, but just as quickly, the cashier raised a hand. The beast froze mid-air, suspended in time. A moment of stillness filled the store.
With a flick of the cashier's wrist, the beast was gone. The shelves returned to their usual state, and the lights came back on.
Vahn's heart was racing, but the demon was laughing. "You passed. Not many would survive their first test."
