Chapter 11 - Second Time in the Dungeon [1]

-----------------------------------------

[Chapter Size: 2980 Words]

----------------------------------

I woke up feeling the warmth of the sunlight on my face once more. It was my third day after receiving the memories of my previous life.

I found out another advantage of the Gamers body skill, after a good night of sleep, the pain from my yesterday's spar against Noin had completely disappeared and my health (hp) was full.

Maybe she had intended for me to rest today and tomorrow and for her train me on Saturday, so that I would go to the dungeon after some training from her, but too bad, I had a system after all, a cheat device that would make one turn around any situation, if utilized properly.

...

After getting ready and having my breakfast, similar to yesterdays, four slices of bread, but this time an extra large serving of homey.

I left my home heading towards the dungeon. I had stored all the potions and the spare swords from that I had bought during my stroll yesterday, into my inventory.

There was also food I had specially prepared and stored it in my inventory, I had decided that I would try to reach at least the 7th or 8th floor this time and reach Level 10 on my system.

...

As soon as I reached the dungeon plaza, I saw groups of adventures heading down the dungeon, it seems another fine day for adventuring in the dungeon.

Queuing up in the line once more, this time I did not see the dwarf or his companions, good for them.

Just descending down the stairs of the dungeon at the entrance was enough to introduce a change in the atmosphere, the bright, warm sunlight gave way to a cold, prickly feeling.

The first floor of the dungeon was still the same, a few goblins being spawned here and there, but unlike the last time where I was more interested in mapping the floors and only fought when necessary or unavoidable, this time I would try to fight as many monsters so I that could to gain more combat experience.

Another thing motivating me fight these monsters was my daily quest,

----------------------------

---Quest------

Daily Quest : Defeat 500 monsters (20/500)

-----------------------------

My daily quest, I had to defeat 500 monsters. Hence time to grind and fill up the numbers.

...

Three hours later, 3rd Floor, Dungeon.

I was able to defeat around 100 goblins and kobolds by the time I was down on the third floor.

I was bored of fighting those goblins in the first floor and sped up a lot on the second floor, as the goblins and kobolds which were harder for me to defeat during my first dive were now falling as easily as breaking twigs, the increased proficiency in my spatial sense skill certainly helped a lot.

But here in the third floor, I tried using my float magic and accel skill to try and see if I could vertically attack the Dungeon Lizards on the ceiling and take them down, that is, if Aerial combat was possible for me.

On my first try, I started floating above the ground, leaned back a bit and applied acceleration and tried to reach an unaware Dungeon Lizard from its behind in a slightly slanted path through the air.

It was almost like a jump but here it was the burst of speed due to the acceleration skill.

I was able to successfully kill it, but not having any support or foothold in the air, I almost fell down, as the ceiling was above the one meter height to use my magic and barely steadied myself by stabbing my swords on the dungeon walls in Kratos style.

But a few tries later after trying to use my magic to land at the last second before reaching the ground, I was able to successfully stop my fall and hover in the air.

By the end of it, my float magic and accel skill proficiency increased by around a good 15% and my MP had gone down leaving only a pitiful 500 left.

-------------------------------------

MP: 500 / 3000

-------------------------------

The only downside was me having to face a monster party in the next chamber. I suspect that the dungeon got angry because of me playing around and not taking it seriously.

*Grrrrr* x10 *KIEEEE* x5

There were almost 30 goblins and 20 kobolds angrily waving their weapons at me and a few Dungeon Lizards on the ceiling, when I entered through the next chamber's door.

This allowed me try another application of my magic and skill which I wanted to try out. Taking another sword from my inventory, I held two swords in each of my hands, started to float and then allowed a little more stamina to the accel skill. Due to both my skills, I was almost like a white line moving across the entire chamber mowing down monsters.

As I sped up, I was only able to sense my enemies vaguely even with the help of my spatial sense.

But that was enough to tear through them like moving a knife through butter, just moving through them in a single straight line with the swords crossed in front of me, I was easily able to cut down around 8 goblins and 4-5 kobolds and they were not even able to react, maybe all they saw in their last moments was just a straight white light heading towards them? No techniques, just simple and pure speed.

But I once more realized that I was already overpowered compared to these low level monsters, now I was just mowing them down for the mission, as they were not even giving me any exp points.

I, for a moment felt sad for these monsters.

But then was reminded of my MP stat which was now near zero.

...

After decimating the entire monster party and picking up all the magic stones, and storing them in my inventory, I took a small break in the same room while keeping a eye out for monsters and waiting for some of my magic to regenerate.

After some time, my magic now about 200, I stopped playing around and became focused, reaching the stairs for the fifth floor in another one hour.

My daily quest was more than half completed, I had taken down around three-hundred monsters.

Another thing I noticed during this trip to the dungeon was, there were some changes to the dungeon, like a chamber on the third floor from my first trip was closed this time, a entire passageway on the fourth floor had simply vanished, with now a wall at the entrance of where the passage was and a few more hallways and chambers closed.

Going down the stairs to the fifth floor of dungeon, the walls on the fifth floor turned light green in color. The light also become dim, the only source of light being the green moss on each side of the ceiling, giving a dim light similar to the walls.

*swoosh*

*thunk*

Going through the hallway on the left and entering the corridor, I was greeted by a tongue to my face, ahem, an attack from a frog shooter, a frog monster with a single huge eye on its forehead, found starting this floor. After dodging the attack, I struck it in the lone eye on its forehead, turning it into ash and making it drop a magic stone.

As I bent to pick up the magic stone it dropped, my spatial sense detected a presence behind me approaching towards me.

*TINGGG*

Turing around and instinctively bringing my sword in front of me, what greeted me was the claw of a humanoid shadow like monster, a war shadow.

I remembered the info about the war shadow from the guild books, a dark humanoid monster that has long arms with three claws that are sharp like knives, in other words another monster, a war shadow or the 'newbie killer' of the fifth floor, it's specialty was sneak attacks, during when an adventurer was relaxed, similar to this one attacking me.

The war shadow was far stronger than the goblins and kobolds on the fourth floor, but still not enough to over power me.

*GUUAAAAA*

Looking at me unscathed, it let out a shriek? and rushed at me once more.

*TINGGG*

Deflecting it's knife like claw with my sword, before it could recover it's stability, I stabbed my sword directly through it's forehead, killing it.

After picking up the earlier magic stone and the one dropped by the war shadow, I opened my system screen to check my status and the number of minsters defeated for my daily quest.

Defeat 500 monsters [305/500]

-----------------

I had only 500 Exp and still needed another 500 Exp to Level Up, but nothing could be done, the monsters on Floor 1 and 2 provided 0.0 something Exp and monsters on the third floor provided only 1 exp now, but the Frog shooter I had killed just now provided 20 Exp, but the War Shadow had given me around 40 Exp. It seems like I would be able to Level Up after hunting for sometime on the fifth floor.

And the number of monsters I had killed was 305, cool, but time to grind more.

"War shadows, my exp points, here I come" exclaiming that I was about to close the system screen, when I felt something wrong, I immediately went back to my Status screen and looking at the skills section, the Anomaly which should have been False had become True, I immediately clicked on the skill, thinking it was changed due to me being in the dungeon,

[Anomaly (True): No rules/ laws of fate or destiny hold sway over you. / Not bound by any rules / fate / destiny, can do anything you want. You are free from fate, no thread of destiny can bind you.

Passive Skill]

It was not related to the dungeon, but my skill had somehow upgraded and become even more broken, should I celebrate or feel concerned? I was having a grave internal discussion on this matter, when I thought of checking the Notifications Tab and see if there were any notifications of the skill upgrade.

I immediately went to the main screen of the system.

--------------------------

[Notifications(100+)]

[Inventory]

------------------------------

I had left alone the notifications option as there would be a notification for each and every monster kill or use of my skill, so the 100+ next to it.

Clicking on the notifications option the notification screen popped up, and as I expected at the beginning there were the notifications of me killing the monsters in the dungeon today and after scrolling down for quite a while, I stumbled on something interesting,

---------------------------

Skill: Anomaly (False) has begun to passively influence the host's world at large

-------------------------

I stared at the notification with a confused face, it was saying that my Anomaly Passive skill had started to do some changes to the entire world, is it really such a powerful skill that it can influence the world? Anyway, at least I hope it is a positive one and not ramping up my current difficulty.

According to the next few notification, the skill was not successful and was repelled, so it tried to strike back and my other skill Miracle Maker did not activate the first or the second time.

Reading further, a total of three opposite forces were staked, maybe these forces are like the guardians of this world?

The next time Miracle Maker activated as Anomaly was almost repelled, upgrading it from False to True.

Seeing the next few notifications, I was once again shocked by the system and the skills it had given me, the upgraded Anomaly (True) Skill, to seek a way out way of the confrontation, had casually created a space and time distortion and a connection to another world.

'Hmm, but wait, I think I have heard the word "Root" somewhere before, but where is it? Ah, it's from the game Fate / Grand Order I had played for sometime on Earth.

My friend had recommended it, but I had stopped playing it after sometime. And 'Root', if I remember it correctly, it is the World's power center or something similar to it.

Ok, it successfully extracted a drop of mana directly from the 'Root', but was forced out, and finally using it as a backup.

No wait, not that, a variable also entered through the spatial distortion and was conveniently ignored? Don't ignore something like that, if some of the unsavory things from FGO come here, it'll be a disaster!

Also whether the variable, a living being or some artifact or anything else, any information on it would be useful. But the notification logs did not mention anything more about the variable as if it was not important.

And the actions were already done, I could do nothing to change it, only keep an eye open and see if I could find the variable.

...

*Crack* *Crack*

While digesting the huge information and thinking about the effect of the backdoor left by my skill, I heard the sound of the wall breaking in multiple places near me.

*swoosh*

Easily defeating the three frog shooters which had spawned by using a compressed air slash from my wooden sword, I made my way seeking out more monsters and to quickly level up.

Following along the passage I came across a group of five adventurers who were fighting against one war shadow and three frog shooters.

They were two humans at the front fighting the war shadow and a boar-kin and a dwarf who were fighting the three frog shooters with the help of the last person, a pallum who had a short bow in his hand, sometimes giving instructions to his team members.

This reminded me that most people who come down to adventure after 5th floor would form a party and then come here, because the number of monsters spawning increases and it is difficult to face of against multiple was shadows for a single person.

I too had to think of a party, but was not too sure whether to join or not, after all, I still do not have Falna, and I grow stronger at an exaggerated rate.

The main reason being I can still easily defeat the monsters here without any difficulty. And even if I wanted to join one, it had to be a party with high level adventurers or it wouldn't be meaningful for me, but a party with high level adventurers would not welcome me a normal person, without Falna.

After standing still for a minute and sensing that the party were not in any danger I went back the hallway to the turning which I had come through and dove into the adjacent corridor next to it.

I was greeted by a group of five frog shooters in the next room, swiftly grabbing the tongue of the first frog shooter which attacked me, thankfully I was wearing gloves, I pulled it towards me with while jumping towards my right to avoid attacks from the other four monsters.

*splat*

Using my sword to impale the monster being pulled towards me, and turning it into ash, I immediately used my accel to reach the nearest frog shooter directly in front of me, stabbing it through its eye and tried to dodge the attacks from the other frog shooters.

I was careless, I was able to dodge the first two attacks, but the last attack hit me in my left forearm and gave me a stinging pain. I was not wearing armor for my hand. It was very much painful but thankfully nothing else happened, no broken bone or anything that would make me unable to use my arm, making me think my constitution stat is really overpowered.

Shaking my head to get rid of the distracting thoughts, I took out a spare sword from my inventory and threw it towards the frog shooter which had struck me and accelerated towards the other two frogs and cut them down. Turning to look at the frog which I had thrown a sword to look at, I saw the sword stuck in the ground and a magic stone near it.

After putting my sword back into its sheath, I picked up the magic stones, stored the spare sword back into my inventory thinking that I needed to stock up some daggers, which were more convenient for throwing in smaller places or using it as a surprise attack in close combat, especially with my inventory's help.

After checking my left hand once more and making sure there was no injury by moving it up and down a few times, the next thing I did was opening the status screen and adding all the stat points which I had gotten by levelling up into the constitution stat. After all, the constitution stat would increase my reaction time, as it would be a waste that I am not able an attack even after sensing it.

I had been able to sense all the three attacks but as they were coming from three different directions and at the same time, I was not able to deflect or dodge them even when I tired my best, hence I wanted to increase my reaction time, which would help me to more efficiently use the acceleration skill.

After adding the points to the constitution stat, I left the room through the hallway opposite to the one from which I came in.
