Chapter 33 - Preparations

After finishing the discussion with Earl Dabyrie and instructing them to have the Ravenholdt Manor assassin squad meet him at the Scarlet Flame's outpost, Galen led Gandalf and Amor out of the council hall.

"Gandalf, teleport back to our territory and bring the main force over. Leave three hundred men at the outpost for guard duty."

Since Galen hadn't decided to publicly reveal the branch mine, he hadn't given it a name yet, simply referring to it as the outpost or the South District Mine.

The walls of the South District Mine had already been completed, all upgraded sentry towers, their defensive capabilities beyond question.

Defense Tower:

A defensive building upgraded from a sentry tower, effective against both ground and air targets.

Attack Weapon: Ballista

Attack Type: Piercing

Attack Range: 400 yards

Armor Type: Heavy Armor

Function: Magic Sentry Post (Unresearched, requires Arcane Sanctum)

Construction Requirements: Lumber Mill

Dozens of defense towers gave Galen a great deal of confidence, and there were also over a thousand farmers in the mines and lumber mill, who could be converted into militiamen at any time. Therefore, only three hundred combat troops needed to remain, with proper patrols arranged, to ensure safety.

Besides the base's troops, he also had Omar's three squads under his command.

Although he already had more than two thousand base soldiers under his command, Galen hadn't assigned anyone to Omar's teams.

Firstly, Galen felt that they still needed experience. Omar was alright, rational and calm, already capable of handling things independently, and could barely lead an army on his own. Varokal had more than enough strength and courage, but lacked strategic thinking, and Galen wasn't comfortable entrusting hundreds of men to his command.

Fadiel, Fral, and Kimir had only recently joined his team and lacked the seniority. Suddenly promoting them would easily cause dissatisfaction among his original guards, like Omar and Varokal, who had followed him for many years.

Secondly, Galen had a more suitable candidate, namely Amor behind him.

Amor, who had once served as King Thoras' captain of the guard, the adjutant of the former cavalry regiment, and a master expert.

Experienced, qualified, and powerful.

In the Kingdom of Stromgarde, under his command, who was more suitable to serve as a commander than Amor?

Him.

He only had a foundation of three thousand men, and Amor was a commander who had commanded tens of thousands of troops, more than enough.

The Scarlet Flame Army was stationed on a high slope between the Southern Mining District and the Northern Mining District. When Galen and his party arrived at the Scarlet Flame Army's camp, Omar and the others were conducting coordination training.

After instructing the guards to notify the squad leaders to gather at the command tent, Galen led Amor into the commander's tent.

Looking at Amor's strong physique seemed to give Galen even more confidence.

"Amor, I plan to entrust all the troops in my hands to your command. What do you think?"

Approaching forty, Amor had been leading troops under Thoras for nearly twenty years. From a charging soldier to the adjutant above ten thousand, he had undoubtedly experienced a lot, and could remain calm in the face of Galen's words.

Amor's expression was calm as he slowly said, "No problem, Your Highness."

Galen didn't find anything wrong with Amor's calm and concise answer. He had learned martial arts at the age of five, met Amor, who was the captain of the palace guard, at the age of six, and more than six years of interaction had taught Galen that he was a man of few words.

A ruthless man who doesn't talk much, that's probably the best way to describe Amor.

Before long, squad leaders Varokal, Omar, and Fadiel entered the camp one after another. The last to arrive was Karl Aurelius, a master level rogue from Ravenholdt Manor.

Scanning the crowd, seeing that everyone had arrived, Galen said, "This is Karl from Ravenholdt Manor. For the next period of time, the My Lord will cooperate with us."

As they entered the camp, they were curious about this unfamiliar face. After hearing Galen's introduction, everyone paid attention to the bald man in the crowd, then nodded to signal Karl.

Several of them were Galen's close guards, and Fadiel was even from a noble family. They had all heard the phrase: "If you have troubles, find us. Ravenholdt helps you solve the problem from the root."

The first time Galen heard this sentence from someone else, he felt like he had countless things to complain about. Your Assassin Alliance's GG slogan is quite smooth, and it's real, not fake GG. You physically destroy the people who create trouble, so the root of the problem disappears.

Glancing at Karl again, thick eyebrows, big eyes, and thick lips, an honest-looking face that didn't look like an assassin at all. That conspicuous bald head was also quite distinctive, the shiny bald head didn't even need a torch at night. Galen thought that he should cover his face when he went on missions, otherwise everyone would guess it was him.

Too bright.

Quickly turning his eyes away, Galen continued, "Guys, our work is here. Witherbark Village is gathering forces, and their target should be our mining area. Our task is to defeat this force."

The reactions varied among the people. Omar had a calm expression. Karl was the one who brought back the news from Witherbark Village, he was the first to know that Witherbark Village intended to invade, while Omar was naturally calm, and the news couldn't move him.

Varokal and Fadiel were the two most excited people in the camp.

Fadiel was excited because war meant opportunities to earn merit, for the sake of his future. Varokal was purely excited because there was a battle to fight. Galen knew him too well, this brute.

"I will appoint Amor as the adjutant of the Scarlet Flame Army, to command this operation in its entirety."

"Yes, Your Highness."

The three of them had no objection to this appointment. After all, Amor belonged to their father's generation, a very old qualification, belonging to their elders, and his strength was high. The few of them added together couldn't beat him, they didn't dare to move, didn't dare to move.

Looking at the three of them like quails, not daring to squeak, Galen expressed his satisfaction.

"Later, Archmage Gandalf will bring the recruited personnel from the south to join us. The team will reorganize tomorrow morning and depart at noon. Do you have any questions?"

"No problem, Your Highness."

"Very good. This time, our Scarlet Flame will send out two thousand seven hundred people, and General Danath of the militia will lead the army to support us."

Galen paused for a moment, his tone serious and solemn as he continued, "This is the first official military action of our Scarlet Flame Army. My requirement for you is to win, to win a beautiful victory. You pass it on, whoever screws up for me at that time, go be a transport soldier for me."

After saying the last word, Galen's face was gloomy, his lips curled up, revealing a sinister smile.

When Omar and Varokal saw Galen's expression, they seemed to think of something terrible, the fear of being dominated by the black-bellied Galen for many years.
