Chapter 39 - Hopeless

The dust from the shockwave settled, and Amor, still in a defensive stance, realized he had been tricked when he didn't see the troll's figure.

He immediately became alert, looking around for Rak'zan's location.

What met his eyes was the sight of the high-ranking troll warrior Rak'zan frozen in ice, blasted away by an oncoming ice lance, ice shards flying everywhere, falling backward, crashing to the ground, lifeless.

What a move, ass-backward, wild goose landing!

Galen couldn't help but cheer in his heart, then offered a eulogy to the Beastmaster Rak'zan: "Once, the Witherbark warrior, Beastmaster Rak'zan, rode his beloved white raptor, carving a bloody path through the Arathi Highlands. Today, he didn't ride his mount, but fell on the walls of Stromgarde."

The surrounding soldiers all felt reverence for Archmage Gandalf. Stromgarde had too few mages, and the mages of Dalaran rarely ventured out, leading most of the highlanders to not understand mages very well. Most of the time, they only heard about the deeds of mages from stories or traveling caravans, feeling that mages were extremely mysterious.

Today, seeing Gandalf fearless in the face of danger, his aura erupting, his blue robes and white beard flying, a set of flowing spells killing a troll who was evenly matched with General Amor, they felt that mages were indeed as mysterious and powerful as in the stories.

The most surprised was Amor. As a fellow master tier, he understood best how difficult it was to kill Rak'zan. Although his berserk time had passed and he had entered a vulnerable phase, he was confident in taking down this troll, but it would still take some time.

He had worked with Gandalf for more than a month, knowing that he was a learned high-ranking mage. This could be seen from the remote video communication he invented. Who would have thought that Rak'zan, the famous Beastmaster of the Witherbark tribe, would die at the hands of this mage?

Rak'zan died too quickly, his breakout failed, and he didn't even have a chance to warn the tribesmen below the city before his body became cold.

Seeing that the battle on the city wall was over, Galen walked over and said to Gandalf: "Gandalf, signal Danath, the next phase of the plan begins, prepare to encircle them."

"Boom."

Gandalf was a man of few words. After killing a ninth-tier troll master, he looked calm and serene, as if he had slaughtered a weak chicken, and then casually shot out a magic bullet, which exploded into a red firework in the sky.

Not far from the west side of the mine, behind a high slope, an army was ambushed. Danath arrived here when the trolls began to attack the city, hiding according to the original plan. Seeing the red signal flashing in the sky above the mine, he immediately issued an order.

"Go."

This three-thousand-man team immediately set off, marching rapidly towards the canyon entrance, preparing to seal off the canyon and catch the trolls in a jar, annihilating this troll force.

Below the city.

An older troll witch doctor was the first to notice that the sounds of fighting on the city wall had stopped, followed by a soaring magic flame illuminating half the sky, also reflected on his face.

His pupils shrank, as if he had figured something out. Rak'zan was dead, more than a thousand tribesmen were dead. Then, with a terrified expression, he screamed loudly: "Retreat! Retreat quickly!"

The fear in his heart made his voice like a rooster with its neck pinched, shrill and piercing, causing a commotion in the troll army.

The troll army's deputy commander couldn't wait to beat the witch doctor to death. What a pig teammate! Your shout almost caused the army to collapse. He resisted the urge to beat the witch doctor to death. Who told the witch doctor's status in the tribe to be relatively high? The top priority is to retreat safely and return to the Witherbark village.

The humans have obviously set a trap waiting for the trolls to enter. Whether they can retreat is not certain. Do your best and leave the rest to fate!

The deputy's military literacy was obviously higher than Rak'zan's, but his strength was not as good as his former troll master. In the troll tribe, where strength is above all else, if you can't beat others, you have to stand aside.

The deputy exhaled the stuffy air in his chest. Rak'zan couldn't go back according to the situation. He had to solve the mess left by this dead fool. He died, and he became the acting warlord. The tribesmen still had to rely on his command, and they had to survive.

"Troll brothers, follow my command, the rear team becomes the front team, the rear team raises shields to cover, retreat."

Although he was only a deputy, he had a good reputation in the army. Everyone trusted him and was willing to obey his orders. The large team of headhunters slowly retreated, and the warriors raised their shields high, protecting their whole bodies, walking at the very back.

Galen looked at the trolls trying to run on the city wall, sneering in his heart. You've entered my pocket formation, and you still want to get out?

Dream on!

He had prepared for this battle for a long time, and he had also simply applied some military strategies from his past, in order to make the Scarlet Flame Legion famous.

This is what he will continue to do in the future, building an invincible, unconquerable Red Flame Legion that is famous and makes enemies tremble.

"Gandalf, Omar, assemble the infantry, prepare to teleport."

The two sentry towers built before came in handy, and were used as Gandalf's teleportation beacons.

The eighth-tier Gandalf was able to bring two hundred and forty units of people for group teleportation. According to him, when his strength is further improved, he will be able to bring more people.

One hundred and eighty infantrymen and sixty musketeers quickly assembled, standing next to the Archmage. A flash of white light passed, and these two hundred or so people disappeared.

"Varokal, wait for the opportunity to leave the city, and lead the cavalry to charge the troll's formation."

At the canyon entrance, on top of one of the two sentry towers, a magic circle flashing with white light appeared, and then human-sized light and shadows appeared below. Archmage Gandalf arrived with two hundred and forty people.

"The first squad defends relying on this sentry tower, the second squad follows me to the opposite side, quickly, quickly, quickly!"

Omar quickly issued orders, and then took the lead to run towards the opposite sentry tower.

The sentry tower is a high tower built of white stone blocks. The tower body is about four meters in diameter and about seven meters high. There is a circle of walls at the bottom. The overall area covers a circle of about seven meters, which can accommodate about thirty soldiers.

A group of musketeers quickly went to the platform on the top of the tower, found a good shooting position, and the rest relied on the cover of the wall, and also quickly found a good position.

The infantrymen surrounded the sentry tower in a circle, raised their shields, and formed a shield wall.

The two airborne squads only need to rely on the two sentry towers to block the trolls for ten minutes, and Danath will be able to lead his troops to arrive, attacking from both sides, and taking down the remaining troll troops in one fell swoop.

Just after forming the formation, the front team of the trolls had already approached the shooting range of the musketeers.

The trolls were very strange when they saw the well-prepared human army. Before entering the canyon, under the insistence of the deputy commander, they had explored the surrounding area of the canyon and confirmed that there should be no ambush in this area.

Moreover, there were witch doctors setting up sentry guards at the canyon entrance. The witch doctors did not find any enemies approaching. What's going on?

"Musketeers, free fire."

Without giving the trolls time to react, Omar roared, and billowing smoke began to emerge from the two sentry towers. The front row of the troll army was headhunters without shields, and they were directly shot by the musketeers, falling on their backs.

Seeing this situation, the troll deputy commander could only bite the bullet and roar: "Witch doctors, magic support, quickly!"
