Chapter 6 - [6] Shockwaves at Marine Headquarters

Pffft!

Sengoku spat out a mouthful of senbei crumbs the moment he heard the news, staring at Brannew in disbelief.

"You're saying… a Celestial Dragon was killed?!"

"Hey, Sengoku! It's just two pieces of trash who died. Why the hell did you spit all over me?"

Garp grumbled, wiping senbei debris off his clothes.

What?! Celestial Dragons are trash?!

Brannew stared at Garp in total shock.

Only after speaking did Garp realize his slip-up. He glanced at the pale-faced Sengoku and the stunned Brannew.

"Ah… I misspoke. Just forget I said that."

Sengoku's eye twitched. He snapped angrily,

"Garp! Watch your damn mouth!"

"Even if you think the Celestial Dragons are trash, you can't go around saying it out loud!"

Even the Fleet Admiral thinks that way…

Brannew's worldview shattered once again.

"Now talk. What the hell happened?"

After scolding Garp, Sengoku turned back to Brannew, ready to hear the full report.

"Fleet Admiral Sengoku, the criminal's name is…"

A few minutes later, after finishing his report, Brannew was dismissed with a wave. Sengoku sat in silence, his face dark and troubled.

"The Godslayer—Sora. Wields both Armament and Observation Haki. His swordsmanship is terrifying. Suspected to be a top-tier swordsman."

"He slaughtered the guards and CP0 agents protecting the Celestial Dragons, killed Saint Rosward and Saint Charlos, and abducted Shalria as well as Princess Anna of the Kachinov Kingdom."

"He's suspected to have the ability to operate a ship entirely alone."

"The North Blue division recommends an initial bounty of 100 million."

Recalling Brannew's briefing made Sengoku's head throb.

He killed CP0 agents in a single strike…

This guy's supposed to be a rookie?

Or are today's rookies just monsters now?

tsk tsk tsk

Garp whistled beside him, reading over the intel.

"To wipe out CP0 instantly… Sengoku, you've got a real headache now."

Two "pieces of trash" were dead, and now the Five Elders were bound to make things difficult for Sengoku.

"What do you think the bounty should be?"

Sengoku asked, ignoring Garp's gloating.

"Well, since two trash got killed, slap five hundred million on him."

Garp nonchalantly picked his nose.

Just the feat of instantly killing CP0 was worth that amount.

"Five hundred million?!"

"First bounty and you're already suggesting that? That's way too much."

Sengoku shook his head repeatedly.

Bang!

Suddenly, Brannew burst through the door again, clearly panicked.

"Fleet Admiral Sengoku! We've got an emergency!"

"According to CP0 intel, the King of the Kachinov Kingdom has also been killed by the Godslayer Sora. Even the royal palace has been burned down. Heavy casualties among the soldiers."

What?! He killed the King of Kachinov too?!

Sengoku was floored.

The Kachinov Kingdom was a World Government affiliate. If their king had been assassinated, the Marines absolutely could not stand by idly. They'd have to respond with urgency and force.

Otherwise, other allied nations might start getting ideas—a dangerous shift for the World Government's authority.

Bloop bloop~ bloop bloop~

Just then, the Den Den Mushi on Sengoku's desk rang. He walked over and picked up the receiver.

Clack!

"Hello?"

"SENGOKU, YOU DAMNED FOOL! Catch that bastard Sora immediately! How the hell am I supposed to answer to the Five Elders otherwise?!"

It was Kong, the Supreme Commander of all the military forces, screaming through the line.

Clearly, the massacre of the Celestial Dragons in the North Blue had him boiling with stress.

"I got it," Sengoku replied calmly, picking his ear with his finger as he hung up the call. He had no intention of letting Kong babble on—he talked too damn much.

Bloop bloop~~ bloop bloop~~

The Den Den Mushi rang again just as he set it down.

Sengoku sighed and rubbed his temples. He picked it up again while Garp grinned nearby, enjoying the show.

Clack!

"Sengoku."

"You've heard about the incident in the North Blue, haven't you?"

"In the name of the Five Elders, I order you to apprehend the criminal immediately and hand him over to the World Government!"

Sengoku had barely picked up before the Five Elders' rage poured from the line.

He furrowed his brows but kept a steady voice.

"I understand."

The Elder roared again:

"This bastard not only killed Celestial Dragons, he murdered the King of an allied nation!"

"You must capture him and show the world we take this seriously."

"And the disgrace to the Celestial Dragons—must be avenged in blood!"

Click.

The line went dead.

Sengoku looked at the phone and shook his head, then turned to Brannew.

"Organize a high-level meeting. Every officer ranked Rear Admiral and above is to attend."

"You have thirty minutes."

The moment Brannew—nicknamed the 'Meeting King'—heard that, his spirit surged. He saluted with energy and yelled,

"Yes, Fleet Admiral Sengoku!"

Then he darted off to prepare.

Off to the side, Garp tried to slip away after hearing the word "meeting." No way was he wasting time in another boring conference.

"Karp!"

"You're not going anywhere!"

Sengoku grabbed his arm before he could escape.

"Let me go, Sengoku! I'm not wasting my time on this crap!"

"Shut it."

Thirty minutes later.

Sengoku arrived right on time to the meeting room.

All the top brass were present—Akainu, Aokiji, Garp, Tsuru, and others from Marine Headquarters.

Sengoku scanned the room and asked in a low voice:

"Where's Kizaru?"

He was certain Kizaru was supposed to be at HQ today.

Brannew quickly stepped forward and explained,

"Admiral Kizaru just left for Sabaody Archipelago."

Sengoku's mouth twitched.

That damn slacker…

He must've caught wind of the Celestial Dragon incident and bailed. Messing up meant punishment, and success earned no reward. So Kizaru, as always, chose to disappear—truly a master of doing the bare minimum.

Clearing his throat, Sengoku addressed the room.

"Not long ago…"

"A Celestial Dragon family—House Rosward—was attacked in the North Blue. Two members are dead, one is missing."

"Their ship, the Saint Rosward, was stolen."

The Saint Rosward was a remodeled battleship, boasting top-tier speed and handling.

Rosward had further upgraded it personally, pushing its cost to over 3 billion berries.

Gasps spread across the room.

No one had expected the Celestial Dragons themselves to be attacked.

A young Rear Admiral couldn't help but ask,

"Fleet Admiral Sengoku, who was it that attacked the Celestial Dragons?"
