Chapter 1 - The Rivalry Never Fades

The harsh rays of the sun bathed the land of Selvayra in a golden glow, casting long shadows that danced between the thick dark forest trees. The wind carried the scent of pine, wet soil , and something else, something far more lethal , it is tension, hatred.

Two rival packs stood face to face , at a border between lunarion and moonveil.

Zyra Valdris ,The True Blood Alpha And Leader Of Lunarion stood, her silver eyes gleaming like polished steel. The scars on her arms told stories of countless victories, battles she had fought and won in the name of vengeance. The hatred she carried for the Moonveil wolves was carved into her very soul. Their kind had murdered her parents, ripped away her family And for that, they would never be forgiven.

Liora Veylan, The True Blood Omega And Leader Of Moonveil faced the Alpha with an expression unreadable, her ethereal blue eyes gazing at the Alpha . Where Zyra was all sharp edges and hardened fury, Liora was calm, calculating—like the stillness before a storm. Her long, white hair flowed in the wind, giving her fragile yet strong aura.

Between them, a weak line of control threatened to Cut into two.

"You've crossed into my territory," Zyra's voice was a low growl, a dangerous warning.

Liora tilted her head slightly, unbothered. "The border is not yours to claim, Alpha Valdris. It belongs to neither of us." Her voice was quiet but powerful, carrying the aura of someone who doesn't bow easily.

Zyra's jaw tightened. "You're trespassing."

"You call it trespassing. I call it ensuring the safety of my pack." Liora's fingers twitched at her sides with the slightest hint of self control. "Lunarion wolves have been attacking my scouts. I won't allow it to go on."

Zyra smirked, but there was no humor intended with that smirk. "Perhaps if your pack weren't so weak and frail , like you, they wouldn't fall so easily."

A flicker of something dark passed through Liora's gaze, but it was gone in an instant. "Strength is not measured by wickedness and being brutal alone, Alpha."

Zyra's hands clenched into fists. She hated the way Liora spoke—so composed, so unaffected. It reminded her of the way Moonveil wolves had stared down at her when she was a child, bloodied and broken, watching her parents die.

"You have five seconds to leave, Omega," Zyra snarled, her voice barely human.

Liora didn't flinch. Instead, she took a single step forward. Her wolves bristled behind her, sensing the challenge, but she didn't stop. "Or what will happen?"

The Alpha rushed her, attacking her with her sword.

Their swords met in a violent clash, the force of it sending a shockwave through their arms. Sparks flew as steel struck against steel, both refusing to leave any gaps between them. Liora gritted her teeth, her muscles burning as she pushed against Zyra with everything she had.

But Zyra was a ruthless beast in battle.

She fought like a predator playing with its prey, so quick, unyielding, relentless. Every strike from her was meant to tear Liora down, to humiliate her, to prove that she was unworthy of standing against a True Blood Alpha.

But Liora was no rat being chased around by a cat.

With a fierce growl, she slide , dodging Zyra's next attack, and slammed her shoulder into Zyra's ribs. The Lunarion Alpha staggered back, but only for a second before striking back with a brutal kick to Liora's side.

Pain spread through Liora's ribs, but she barely breathe through it before she was moving again. She launched forward, striking fast, her blade was blurry with the speed as she forced Zyra into going defensive. For every step back Zyra took, Liora pressed harder, her attacks fueled by years of rage.

Then she saw her opening.

Liora skipped to the left then twisted right, slamming the hilt of her sword into Zyra's wrist. The force knocked the Alpha's weapon from her hand, sending it to the ground.

Without hesitation, Liora kicked the sword farther and kicked Zyra in the chest.

Zyra hit the ground hard, her breath leaving her. Liora was on her instantly, pressing her sword against Zyra's throat, towering over her, breathing in the moment she had waited for.

"You talk too much," Liora hissed, her voice laced with venom.

But Zyra only smirked up at her, unbothered, as if she wasn't the one on the ground, as if Liora's blade wasn't at her throat. "And yet, here I am, still breathing."

The words barely left her mouth before she twisted her body, hooking her legs around Liora's waist and yanking hard.

Liora lost her balance, her blade slipped from her hand and the next thing she knew, ZYRA had her on the ground, the weight of the Alpha's knee pressing into her stomach. She groaned In pain.

The ruthless alpha's fist cracked across Liora's jaw. Another followed, bursting her lip, the taste of blood flooding her mouth and some blood dripped down her chin.

Zyra grabbed her by the collar, lifting her slightly before slamming her back onto the dirt. "You thought you could beat me huh?" she snarled, silver eyes blazing with nothing but hatred, "think again Omega tsk".

Liora spat blood onto the ground between them, glaring up at Zyra with fiery rage. "I still can. If you let me go I will show you what I am capable of" she looked up at zyra smirking.

Zyra scoffed. "Not today, Omega. I am in a good mood and satisfied seeing you bleed, you are lucky we are not allowed to kill each other, yet. I would love to torture you more ,but i am bored of you."

Then, Zyra released her grip and stood. She turned from liora and commanded her warriors.

"Let them be, i have had enough fun today"

Liora coughed, her body aching, but she forced herself up with her elbows, watching as Zyra walked away. Every fiber of her being screamed at her to chase after the Alpha, to finish what they started, to wipe that victory look off her face permanently.

But she couldn't move.

Not yet.

Liora barely had a moment to gather herself before a familiar voice cut in on her silent moment.

"ohh crap .. that was quite an interesting show."

She groaned realizing It was her Beta.

Sera Vael stepped into the clearing, arms crossed over her chest, her emerald green eyes gleaming with amusement. The Moonveil Beta was dressed in her usual leather armor, her twin daggers strapped to her thighs, but there was no urgency in her stance ,just that damn smirk and smart mouth that always irritated Liora.

Liora exhaled sharply, spitting out another mouthful of blood as she wiped her bruised lip with the back of her hand. "Don't start, Sera, I am warning you ."

Sera chuckled, crouching beside her Alpha with infuriating ease. "Oh, but I must, by the way , what can you do to me? Hmm? You just got your ass handed to you by the True Blood Alpha, and in front of both packs, no less. That has to sting, Ouch."

Liora shot her a glare, but it lacked its usual force. "I was winning. I handed Alpha her ass too on my own."

Sera tilted her head, examining Liora's split lip and the forming bruise on her cheek. "Mmm… sure. If by 'handing ass to the alpha too' you mean getting pinned to the ground and repeatedly punched in the face, then yes, you did amazing." Sera laughed at her so hard.

Liora groaned, running a hand through her tangled white hair. "I hate you, I wonder why you are my Beta, you only mock me every single time Sera."

Sera grinned. "Nah, you love me. And I am the only one who tells you the truth. I am in a position deserving of me , your beta And speaking of position..." She leaned in closer, lowering her voice conspiratorially. "Zyra didn't scar you more? Judging from the position she has put you in , she had the chance. Interesting, don't you think?"

Liora scoffed, pushing herself up with a wince. "Do you love me at all, sera? , well, She wants me to suffer first."

"Uh-huh." Sera's smirk widened. "Or maybe, just maybe, the infamous ruthless Zyra Valdris is being merciful for a change."

Liora shot her a look. "Drop it."

Sera threw her hands up in mock surrender. "Fine, fine. But you have to admit, that fight had a certain energy to it." She wiggled her eyebrows.

Liora looked up at her , " you've been watching? All along?, damn you sera."

Liora groaned shoving herself onto her feet despite the dull ache in her ribs. "Let's just get out of here before I regret not throwing you into a tree."

Sera chuckled, falling into step beside her. "Whatever you say, My enchanting Omega."

Liora didn't respond . But as she walked away from the field, the weight of Zyra's words still burned into her skin.

"I wish i could kill her" liora Stated angry at the way the Alpha had spited her

"You know you can't do that", Sera warned her.

They fight from time to time due to borders ,resources and hunting grounds though they had sealed a sacred pact 20 years ago which prevented them from killing each other's leaders. The penalty for going against that sacred pact is death but the pact didn't say they can't disfigure each other's faces.

Liora exhaled, shaking off the thoughts. She turned to the Moonveil scouts who stood at the edge of the fields, their eyes flickering between her and the fading figures of the Lunarion wolves.

"Keep guarding this border," she commanded, her voice steady despite the pain coursing through her body. "I don't want any more surprises from Zyra's pack. If they step out of line, report to me immediately and no unnecessary fights unless provoked."

The scouts nodded in unison.

Liora turned back toward the direction of Moonveil territory, her mind still replaying the fight, the way Zyra had looked at her, the way she smirks.

Sera stepped in front of liora, hands tucked behind her head. "You know, for someone who just got her face rearranged, you still act like you're in charge."

Liora didn't even look at her. "That's because I am incharge."

Sera snorted. "Hmm Fair enough. But next time, maybe try not letting the crazy Alpha pin you to the ground, it was embarrassing to watch" Sera said, faking tears of humiliation.

Liora clenched her jaw, refusing to take the bait. But as she walked deeper into the forest, her fingers curled into fists , pained by sera's taunts which she had to prepare for whenever she lost to zyra, but It still hits every single time.

As Liora and Sera made their way back, the wind carried a strange scent—one that didn't belong to Moonveil or Lunarion. It was faint, almost weak, but the scent cannot be mistaken.

Blood.
