Me, Frisk and Caeli were chasing after the weird guys while in total obscurity. To make up for the lack of light I casted some fireballs that guided our path and led us closer to the kidnapers.
"Hey! what's going on". Caeli, who didn't know why we were running. still had no idea of what was happening. She got no answer as we ventured towards empty streets and alleys.
We were dangerously close to them as their speed was reduced by holding an unconscious Whimsun between their arms.
When they realized that we almost caught up to them, one of the cloaked figures threw a dagger towards me. It almost took me by surprise as I narrowly dodged it.
"Watch out the daggers!". I warned them as we had to slow down. 'Damn it, I can't attack them as long as they have a hostage. They kept throwing daggers at us, but thanks to Caeli's telekinesis we could safely follow them.
It seemed that they finally reached their destination as another cloaked figure charged at me with the intention of stabbing me. Before he could reach me he was hit by my fireball, pushing him away.
It seemed they were preparing to escape as they had a car and around seven cloaked figures guarding it.
I ran straight for the car while Frisk and Caeli held them off, they had already put the kidnaped monster inside the car and now they were getting ready to flee. I almost reached the car but I was suddenly grabbed from behind.
I swiftly took out my twin blades and pierced his stomach, freeing myself. I got up and tried to reach the car, but I was too slow and it had already started speeding.
'F*ck'. I internally cursed as the car got away. But suddenly it stopped and was surrounded by a bluish hue.
"Do something asshole!". I heard Caeli's scream and thanked her. I immediately threw one of my blades to one of the car's tires rendering it useless. The driver, realizing that the car was no longer usable, got out of it and angrily stared at me.
"Get them". The cloaked figure that emerged from the car seemed different than the rest, it commanded the others with a certain authority.
A pair of cloaked figures rushed at Caeli and Frisk, but before they could reach them, they were easily subdued by Caeli's telekinesis.
The Leader clicked her tongue as now our numbers equaled hers. The tension could be felt at the air as no side made a move. 'The monster is safe and their numbers are reduced, It seems very likely that we will win, but still, why do I feel uneasy?'.
While Frisk and I patiently waited for them to make a move, Caeli was different. She confidently took a step forward and stretched her hand.
"Let's end this quickly". She once again used her Telekinesis at one of the cloaked guys. But she made a mistake, the three remaining cultists weren't fodder like the other, and as she kept trying to send one of them flying, they stood unflinched.
'They've got a mage'. The best counter to an offensive mage was a defensive one, thus Caeli couldn't directly damage them. As I glanced at them they seemed to be stubbornly trying to brute force their way through the mage's defense.
"Stop it". At this rate it seemed that she would pass out from the effort. They were surrounded by a faint magic barrier, while one of them who was holding a sword stared at us with killing intent, before they could do anything the leader patted their shoulder stopping them.
'Damn it'. They seemed to be waiting for something or someone. I still couldn't use my fire magic because of the monster trapped inside a car and attacking recklessly would be suicidal.
I made a glance at Frisk asking what to do and she seemed to understand. She took a step forward and I was filled with anticipation as to what would the anomaly do.
"We don't need to keep fighting, hand us the car and we will just retreat". She tried deescalating the situation with pacifism. I was expecting something more 'impactful', but still, talking to them wasn't that bad of an idea.
"You should be grateful for this opportunity to collaborate with the rebirth of-".
"Shut up". The leader stopped the swordsman from spewing more information.
"Forgive me priest". The swordsman obediently shut up as the standstill continued.
Caeli, who had been quietly watching the mage, raised her hand. As I looked at her she winked telling me to prepare. As she started channeling her magic, the mage prepared his defenses.
The mage stood still as it seemed that her attack was unsuccessful. But a few moments after the whole car floated with a cyan glow and it was thrown at the mage. The weight of the entire vehicle completely overwhelmed the mage and he was swiftly knocked out.
"I did my part so don't mess this up". Caeli's expression was one of sheer exhaustion, she immediately lost consciousness after using up all of her magic.
I caught her before she fell and glanced at the cloaked figures. At the command of the priest, the swordsman rushed at me. With Caeli on one hand and a short blade on the other it seemed that I couldn't defend myself.
Swiftly launching my blade towards their feet. pained groans echoed thorough the dark city. This wasn't enough to stop them as they again rushed at me. I stretched my hand, preparing my attack, the sense of dread and fear I felt were completely burned down by my resolve, my determination. As I casted a fireball the swordsman was pushed back by my attack, but it still wasn't enough.
Putting Caeli on the floor I confronted the swordsman.
Swish!
swoosh!
Weaponless, the only thing I could do was evade his blade. While we were at it I started reminiscing about my first years at this world.
Thud
Thud
My tense heartbeat continued as I dodged the attacks.
Swish!
Firstly, I thought that I would be completely in love with magic because that wasn't present on my original world. But who would have thought that my biggest hobby would be something that my own world already had, martial Arts.
Clang!
As the swordsman weapon hit a wall, I saw an opening-
In Earth, Martial Arts had a limit, no matter how much you trained you couldn't just become invincible. But In this new world I wondered, 'what if'.
Zen's finishing moves
3rd: Spinning back kick
With one swift kick the swordsman was dropped to its knees as they grumbled in pain. Before they could retaliate I finished it with my favorite move. With my outstretched hand facing the swordsman's solar plexus I delivered the final blow.
1st: One-inch punch
As my fist powered by magic reached the cultist, he was completely knocked out. With that, the only one remaining was the priest. which was entangled with a fierce battle against Frisk. That was until something changed.
Suddenly Frisk's closed eyes became crimson red and in the next moment the priest arm was cleanly cut.
"Serves you right, cult maniac".
The killing intent could be clearly felt but 'Frisk' just knocked them out without resorting to murder. The anomaly's gaze fell on me as my heart stopped for an instant.
"Damn, I got a little too exited". It stared at me for a couple seconds probably thinking what to do with me. It seems that 'Frisk' reached a conclusion as she got closer to me with a wide grin.
"Greetings, I'm Chara".
|Frisk's P.O.V|
I never expected things to go that wrong. Thankfully, alongside Caeli and Asriel 2 we were able to almost entirely defeat the cultists. When only two of them remained, I've got to fight the so-called priest.

I swiftly checked the stats of the priest, it was undoubtedly the biggest threat from all the cultists, but still it I was confident that I would defeat it.
With a dark expression, the priest started throwing me magic attacks. Evading them easily I sent a sword slash towards the priest, which they blocked with magic.
"You kids have bothered me enough, defeating my men and screwing my mission up. But still, I will tolerate this much".
I ran and tried to stab them with my dagger, my attack was blocked with their own blade. A throbbing headache hit me, a side effect of me trying to maintain control.
'Chara, what are you doing?'.
My hands kept trembling as I kept clashing with the priest barrage of attacks.
"You are special, aren't you? With a soul that powerful your sacrifice alone would make us able to resurrect our fallen God".
I still was internally fighting for control with Chara while the priest kept rambling about their cult.
"But still, you're far too special to be used as mere fuel". The priest easily swayed a bunch of blood-red daggers that I summoned.
"Frisk Dreemurr, with that soul of yours you would be able to comprehend the worlds outside ours, join me and your friends will be spared".
The priest was utterly trashing me as I kept getting hit, I couldn't even properly concentrate as Chara spoke to me.
'Let this one to me, I won't kill them'.
I could feel Chara's hatred as my own as I slowly let her control.
The last thing I could feel before losing connection to my body was my dagger severing the priest's arm.
"You religious fanatics are all the same". Chara's tone was dark, and her malice could be felt.
"All that talk about the truth and salvation to only harvest souls like madmen". She then pierced the priest's chest.
"Serves you right, cult maniac".
As the priest had finally lost their consciousness Chara's gaze fell on Asriel's doppelganger.
'That's a problem, should I threaten them?'
'Just let him know about you, he helped us after all'.
That guy had already taken care of the swordsman and was now looking cautiously at Chara, then I decided to

He was quite strong for his age and it seemed that he also was a boss monster. Chara then approached him and presented herself.
"Greetings, I'm Chara". The tense ambient could easily be felt as Chara smiled creepily.
"Think of me as Frisk's split personality, you should keep my identity as a secret, would you?".
I could feel the cringe deep within me as Chara kept talking. Zen seemed to relax as Chara stopped pointing him with a dagger.
"Think of this dagger as a gift for your cooperation". As Chara gave Zen my dagger he stared and him dead in the eyes as she talked.
"You're quite an interesting fellow, aren't you?". Her crimson stare illuminated the dark night.
"Let's get to know each other next time".
With that remark I regained control of the body and could feel the embarrassment right away.
Still feeling embarrassed, I freed the Whimsun captive on the car.
"We still haven't presented ourselves, what's your name?".
"The name's Zen". With a broad smile, I thanked him for his help against those cultists.
Soon enough some royal guardsmen arrived. Soon enough, the city lights returned and we soon came back to where the event should have been held.
***
After some hours the whole matter was resolved as Undyne told me about everything that happened. A group of cultists attacked the event to try and kidnap both humans and monsters for unknown purposes.
Although they were many injured, there were no Casualties, also around 64 members of the cult were captured, 3 of them holding the status of 'priest'.
Even though it was a catastrophe, the combined effort of the royal guards and the human knight and mage divisions proved to be an incredible force.
After me Zen and Caeli were interrogated about what happened, Caeli excitedly took out her phone and asked for a photo. Struggling against some cultists made us quite close and we decided to share our contact info.
"I hope seeing you two at New Gen Academy". With that remark our paths once again diverged as the whole event came to a close.
|Zen's P.O.V|
After the whole incident was over, I found myself on the bus going back to the orphanage and Lyanna scolding me for being reckless. I gained a bit of popularity as the photo of me, Frisk and Caeli became popular.
This whole incident gave me a lot new insights. Firstly Frisk and Chara were present in the same body. Although Frisk seemed to be a pacifist Chara seemed quite dangerous. I still needed more knowledge about what happened on this timeline.
Then there's the cult, I would normally take them as just lunatics but the whole soul harvesting thing made me more wary of them. From what I knew even the weakest could become invincible with enough souls.
Being inspired by the cultists, I decided to give nicknames to measure one's threat level to the world.
Threat level 0: Sinners.
Everyone without any knowledge of the world's secrets and timelines. In Christianity, those who did not believe in God, would be fated to remain in limbo after death.
Threat level 1: Prophets.
Those with a bit knowledge about the world's true nature and fate but without retaining memories of resets. One could possibly be humanity's greatest prophet.
Threat level 2: Angels.
Those with knowledge of timelines or even directly knowing the anomaly and retaining some faint memories after a reset. Ones that could be called Angels would be the king and queen themselves, Sans, Papyrus, Undyne and Alphys.
Also, I theorize that the possession of determination, A high LOVE and a human or boss monster soul absorption could artificially put you on this category.
Threat level 3: Archangels.
Beings which have a certain power on the timeline and fully remember resets. Asriel would be one.
Once again, a high LOVE, a lot of dt, or a couple of human souls could put you in this category.
Threat level 4: Gods.
Beings with great power capable of destroying entire timelines, influencing greatly their reality or performing resets letting them overcome fate. These beings Are Frisk, Chara, and possibly Gaster?
The only way I can think of one becoming a God is absorbing 7 human souls just like Asriel.
Up to the 3rd level I could somehow manage them, but the last level was the real challenge. If Frisk just started a genocide, what I would be able to do against them?
Before finally closing my diary, I added a final level, only to cross them out, after are I have no proof of the existence of those. And I eagerly prayed for them to not exist.
After that crazy day I finally succumbed to exhaustion and fell asleep.
***
Watching him was quite entertaining, but if that final level really existed then this world was far from safe. I just hope that we can live peacefully for a long time.
Threat level 5: Outer Gods
Beings originated outside our world, anomalies above causality that unlike me could very well have the power to annihilate this world beyond resets.
Theoretical example: Programmer, if this world is a game, then someone must have coded it.
Possible Outer God: The Player???
