He smiled at his sister and patted her head and assured her. Things would change but would it be for the better or worse only time would tell. He placed her down and looked at the crowd.
"I thank you for worrying about my well being, but fret not. The goddess has healed me from my suffering. She has healed me so that I may live another day. This is probably our reward from the heavens. Praise the Goddess." He shouted
Seth had remembered that the people here seemed to be highly faithful. Well a small village like this had to have faith if the concept of gods and goddess was here.
The crowd's eyes shone. They all chanted 'Praise the Goddess' after him. No one would believe him if he maid any other excuses. After all, he was on the verge of death. The crowd believed him when a god was added to the equation.
The crowd left chatting excitedly about the miracle that just happened. Seth held Sarah's hand and made his way to the house. He saw Caspera outside the main door.
"Do you know how much problem I had to face because of you. You stupid orphan." She shouted. She picked a stick on the side and walked towards his side.
"Today I am gonna skin you alive you little wench." She shrieked.
People came outside from their houses and looked from their windows. Many were looking but no one intervened. Some were enjoying the drama that was unfolding.
Sten looked at the scene unfolding, pushing his shivering sister behind him. He stayed calm as Caspera stomped towards him. She shouted and raised the stick in an intent to kill him.
The stick came down and Sarah shrieked in fear and closed her eyes. Suddenly, some gasps were heard. She opened her eyes and was shocked at the scene.
Sten was standing over the stick's end, his hands behind his back looking calmly at Caspera. Caspera had fallen on the ground beside her, dazed. Sarah was shocked by this scene.
Sten had side stepped at the last moment but the momentum kept Caspera moving. He used his small figure to his advantage and stepped beside her and kicked the back of her knee.
This movement successfully disbalanced her making her fall humiliating herself. She suddenly realized what had happened and her face reddened. She quickly stood up and huffed. She tried to talk but was unable to do so.
She was utterly humiliated and by whom a 3 year old. She who was destined for greatness. She gasped for air. Some people snickered fanning the flames in her heart.
"Y- You chose this path. Now be doomed" She shrieked.
She started to do some weird hand signs and hand movements while mumbling. A small green circle full of weird runes appeared in front of him. Her eyes glowed a light green. Light breeze started to flow around her.
Seth had a very weird feeling. It was like his 6th sense was screaming. He quickly held the hand of Sarah and rushed back to make some distance between them and Caspera.
"Somebody stop her! She is gonna kill the kids!" A voice from the crowd emerged. Few people also started to quickly do the same movements as her but it was slower.
"HAHAHAHAHAH- YOU CHOSE THIS! YOU CANNOT STOP ME NOW! WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!" She shouted laughing manically.
The color had faded from the faces of the spectators. All of them could use minor and common magic spells and mostly they were harmless. But she was Caspera, she had practiced it a lot more.
She was from the family of the Woodsman, who were proficient in hunting. They thus had more powerful fighting spells. If they were hit they may be slightly injured but here they were talking about two 3 year old kids.
"Light Wind Blade" She shouted and pushed her hands forward. The runic circle broke and a beam of light shot out from its center. It was a gust of wind. Do not think it as harmless, it was a concentrated gust and it had remarkable sharpness.
Time seemed to slow down as adrenaline rushed. Seth looked at the blade nearing him. He sighed. He did not think that he would have to use his powers so early. It was like playing a long game but showing your cards in the first round. But survival matters right.
He could see the creepy smile plastered on Caspera's face. He would beat the shit out of her if even a single hair was harmed. He sighed internally as the rush was ending.
"Asu-" he invoked mentally when suddenly the spell died mid air.
Seth looked confused but he found the situation in his favor. He quickly grabbed Sarah's arm and rushed towards the now prepared people seeing protection.
He looked at the people around him. Some heaved a sigh of relief and some were confused. Caspera was standing there, her hands in front of her as if shooting a spell.
The scene that she had imaged did not happen. She was prepared to see two dead bodies but her spell had died? How? How did it die. She grabbed her hair and looked around. Her eyes were bloodshot. She screamed,
"WHO DARED TO OBSTRUCT ME! FACE ME! YOU DARE TO STOP A SPELL OF MINE. A SPELL OF CASPERA. SHOW YOURSELF" She screamed at the top of her voice.
"It was me. Do you dare to face me?" A mocking voice boomed in everyone's ears.
Caspera in her state could not recognize the voice. She screamed and shot her glance towards the source of the voice. Suddenly she felt as if a cold bucket of water was dunked on her.
She took a few steps back but tripped and fell down, still not taking her gaze away from the person. The villagers were also scared looking at the person who spoke the words.
Caspera stammered but was unable to speak anything. Suddenly a gust of wind flew beside her. Her hand suddenly flew up in the sky, blood flowing everywhere. She was dazed for a moment but suddenly her screamed ringed in everyone's ears...
