Christopher's voice came from inside.
Janice paused for a moment. Then she turned around to fetch a bath towel from the wardrobe and handed it over.
A few moments later, the door opened again, and Christopher walked out with a bath towel around his waist.
His upper body was naked.
Janice turned around subconsciously.
Christopher saw Janice's embarrassment and couldn't help teasing her.
He hugged Janice from behind and rubbed his chin against Janice's ear.
Suddenly, Janice was surrounded by a warm body.
She immediately froze and stood there, not knowing how to react.
Especially at this moment when her relationship with Christopher was still quite awkward.
"Christopher... let go of me first."
She said with her face flushed.
Christopher stared at her reddened ears and then let go of her.
Janice immediately heaved a sigh of relief.
She didn't dare to look back at Christopher and said weakly, "I'll wait outside. Put on your clothes and I want to talk to you."
She hurriedly ran out of his room.
Staring at her figure, Christopher chuckled. Then he turned around to the wardrobe and changed his clothes.
When he came out, he saw Janice nervously sitting on the sofa.
The moment she saw him, Janice deliberately moved aside.
Christopher noticed her uneasiness and sat down beside her.
Janice's heart was in her mouth again when Christopher sat right next to her. She could feel his gaze on her, even without looking at him.
Then, she said, "Christopher, what do you think about what I said last night?"
"What words?"
Christopher frowned.
Janice bit her lip, then said, "I mean the situation of my family. If... if you think it's
too much..."
"It's not."
Christopher interrupted her.
Janice confusedly stared at him, waiting for him to continue.
Now Christopher understood why she acted so weird earlier. He couldn't help rubbing the top of her head in resignation.
"I told you not to overthink things. You're doing it again."
"I..."
Janice was about to explain that she just wanted to know his real thoughts. However, Christopher's phone suddenly rang. He got up and went to answer it.
Janice could only swallow her words.
"Well, I'll ask him later." Janice thought.
As soon as she went to the bedroom, the doorbell rang.
Janice glanced at Christopher who was answering the phone. She hesitated for a moment and went to open the door.
She opened the door and saw a strange man standing outside with a food bag in his hand. She asked confusedly, "Who are you?"
Rob was surprised when he saw Janice. Mr. Bateman had called him to send something over.
He did not expect to see Janice open the door.
As he was thinking about how to explain, Janice remarked, "You're the delivery man, right? Leave it to me. Thank you."
Janice reached for the bag.
Rob Hanson hesitated for a moment then he handed over the takeout. Just as he was about to say something, Janice closed the door.
Rob stood there speechlessly.
Janice placed the bag on the dining table and opened it. She found it was quite sumptuous, she felt warm in her heart. "Christopher is quite considerate."
Before she could unpack the takeout, the doorbell rang again.
She went to open the door and found that it was still the person who had just delivered the takeout. Confused, she asked, "Did I miss something?"
...
"And this one."
Rob handed over the clothing bag in his hand.
Janice took it in confusion. When she saw that it was a women's clothing inside, she became even more confused. "Even the clothing store provides a delivery service?"
"Thank you."
Since there was also underwear in the bag, Janice felt embarrassed so she didn't say anything more and closed the door.
"..." Rob was once again locked outside the door.
Janice came in with the clothes in her hands and asked Christopher who finished his phone call, "You ordered food and bought clothes for me?"
Christopher nodded.
"Thank you, but how do you know my clothing size?"
Thinking that he had bought such a private thing for her, her face couldn't help blushing.
Christopher narrowed his eyes, then said, "I have my ways."
He cast a meaningful glance at Janice's body.
Janice felt even more embarrassed.
After breakfast, they went out and saw Rob who was still standing in the doorway.
Janice was bewildered.
"Why haven't you left yet?"
Rob, "..."
Christopher glanced at Rob, "He's here for me."
"Oh, he's your friend. I'm sorry, I just got the wrong person."
Janice felt so embarrassed.
Christopher continued to say, "This house belongs to him. We'll move in later."
Hearing Christopher's words, Janice was surprised, and asked, "Is that okay?"
"It's okay. It was empty."
Christopher made eye contact with Rob as he spoke.
Rob received Christopher's hint and quickly helped to cover up the lie.
"That's right. Anyway... the house is empty all year round. If you move in, you can
help maintain it."
Rob murmured to himself, "What's Mr. Bateman doing? It's his own house, but why does he say it's mine? I really don't understand."
Although Rob said so, Janice still couldn't accept it. After all, it was his house. How could they be freeloaders?
However, she realized that the apartment she rented was too small and it was unsuitable to ask Christopher to sleep on the sofa every night.
After Rob left, Janice gritted her teeth and said, "Remember to ask your friend how much rent we need to pay for this house. It would be cool if we could get a discount."
After all, she couldn't be a freeloader.
Christopher stared at Janice in resignation. She really didn't want to take advantage of others.
He said, "I'll take care of it."
Hearing his words, Janice did not say anything more.
After the two decided to move at night, Janice went to the TV station while Christopher went to Daniel Pattinson's Club.
In a private room, Daniel glanced at Christopher who was sitting opposite him.
Thinking of what happened last night, he really wanted to gossip with Christopher.
"What happened last night? Tell me who that woman is."
Seeing Daniel's curious eyes, Christopher frowned.
"I need your help."
Hearing those words, Daniel stopped gossiping and frowned.
"Christopher, when did you become so polite to me? Tell me, of course I will help you."
Daniel had always been straightforward, so Christopher said directly, "Do you know about the Gladwell Group?"
"Gladwell Group?"
Daniel was puzzled.
Christopher said, "Malcolm Gladwell."
Daniel thought for a while and remembered. "I've heard of him. Why do you ask?"
Christopher said.
"I want to invest in his company through your name."
...
"Invest? It's a small company. I've heard that it's been doing poorly recently."
Daniel was in disbelief.
Christopher replied, "It doesn't matter."
"It doesn't matter?"
Daniel couldn't understand him now.
"Christopher, you might be an investment expert, but this is a lost cause. At least tell me the reason."
Christopher dispassionately answered, "When the time comes, I'll let you know."
"So, now is not the right time for me to know?" Daniel thought.
"Okay, I'll do that."
Daniel readily agreed.
When Janice arrived at the TV station, she was still a little nervous. Although she had the video, she didn't know whether Wilson Roger had complained to the station yet.
Wilson had a certain standing in the business circles. If he really wanted to deal with her, she, as a reporter, would be in deep trouble.
Thinking of this, Janice felt even more anxious.
Walking into the department, she saw her colleague, Lucy sleeping on the table. She was a little confused, "Why did she work that late yesterday?"
She immediately realized there must have been some breaking news yesterday.
Then she gently sat down in her seat, but the noise still woke Lucy up.
Lucy got up from the table and stretched herself. When she saw Janice, she was quite surprised and asked, "How come you're in so early?"
Janice frowned and said, "It's getting late. It's already past eight o'clock. Didn't you go home last night?"
Lucy complained, "Go home? Because of Wilson Roger, I spent the whole night writing here."
Hearing that name, Janice's heart tightened. "Really? What... happened to him?"
Lucy looked around and whispered, "You don't know yet? Wilson was arrested after an anonymous tip-off last night."
"Tip-off?"
Janice was even more curious.
"Yeah, dozens of cases of sexual assault charges. All the witnesses and material
evidence were gathered. This time, the Roger Group is finished."
Lucy got up to use the bathroom.
Janice stared at the press release with rapt attention.
"What a coincidence!"
She had just started a feud with Wilson last night. She didn't expect any of this to happen.
Was this what poetic justice felt like?
Knowing that this had nothing to do with her, Janice tried to focus on her work.
During lunch.
Janice received a call from her father.
"Janice, I have good news for you. Our company has just received substantial investment and our financial predicament has been resolved."
Malcolm's voice indicated his jubilant mood.
"Really?" Janice was also very happy. "That's great!"
On the other side, Malcolm got confused, "What? Didn't you know?"
Janice didn't understand her father's words. She had indeed tried to be helpful yesterday, but she failed.
"Dad, I don't know what you're talking about."
Malcolm finally told her, "Janice, I didn't expect that you would know Daniel Pattinson."
"Daniel Pattinson?"
Janice had no idea who this person was.
Could there be a mistake?
But when she thought that her father's problem had finally been solved, she felt relief. It did not matter whose contribution it was.
Janice received Christopher's call before she got off work.
