"Busy with something...." Daphne completed her sentence in a speechless tone after seeing who her date was. It was someone that she least expected.
It was her boss.
Daphne didn't expect to see her boss of all people.She could not have guessed that her boss was looking for love. Maybe he was branching out from spreadsheets to spreads of affection.
But she still didn't fully accept it. She didn't see her boss as someone who would willingly go on a date. Or anything that didn't involve making money.
" Sir, well I didn't expect it to be-."
" It's fine Daphne, sit." Daphne sat down on the chair and crossed her legs.
Then there was silence for a minute or so. She didn't want to start the conversation because she didn't even want a conversation. She wanted to pick up her bag, get a cab and run along to her house to watch her favorite sitcom.
" Daphne, I take it that you aren't Vanessa Hudgens." Daphne's boss; Dante said, making Daphne to give him a neutral look. Of course her boss did findings on who he was going on a blind date with.
" Yes sir....."
" Dante, call me by my name since we are outside work."
Daphne nodded and started looking at her surroundings more, trying to show that she just wanted the date to end. It was something simple. They would simply exchange goodbyes and they would go home and resume work tomorrow as if nothing ever happened.
" This is what is going to happen Daphne, we will carry on as if this meeting never happened. "
"Yes si-, Dante," Daphne said, feeling relieved that she could avoid any awkwardness about going on a date with her boss.
"Another thing,I have a task that requires your assistance. I would like you to help me conduct an interview with someone tomorrow." Dante said raising an eyebrow.
"An interview? I am not sure that is within my department's purview. Typically, our team does not handle interviews."Daphne explained
"I understand your concerns, but this is a special case. I would like to collaborate with this person, and your input would be valuable. Would you be willing to consider it?"
"Alright, I will do it." Daphne said.
"Okay, Daphne. But at least I've confirmed one thing today" Dante replied
"What is that?" Daphne asked
" That you were actually going on a date.''
Daphne got to her apartment and was welcomed with a gift. A mess, that was the gift. Daphne sighed and called for a brother.
" Lucas! Come to the living room." She called out in an annoyed tone ready to scold but held her words when she saw who came forward.
" Mother, good evening." Daphne said and bowed her head in respect.
" Evening Daphne, listen I know you were about to scold your brother but let him be. He is just being a boy."
" But being a boy doesn't mean he has to behave like an uncultured swine."
" No Daphne I won't let you talk about my son in that manner. It is something that is normal, that is how boys normally behave."
" No it is not, I have male friends who I would even say practice better hygiene than me. So it is not about gender but the individual. Your son is a dirty person."
" Daphne!" Daphne's mother exclaimed in an angry tone, upset that Daphne had insulted her dear son.
" Daphne! Why would you talk about me that way." Lucas came to the living room running, provoked that his sister had said that about him.
Daphne sighed and left the living room for the bathroom. She was already used to her mom's naggings and her brother's annoying behaviors so she easily ignored them. After all, Daphne was not the type of person that easily got angry. She was good at controlling her emotions.
She got to the bathroom that her she and her brother shared and saw another mess. He didn't flush the toilet. Daphne sighed again, cleaned the toilet and took a hot shower to clear her head.
Night had already come since she got home late so,by the time she was done changing into her pyjamas,everyone had already settled themselves in the living room.
Her brother was busy looking for more chaos to ensue, her mom doing her routine skincare and her dad desperately calculating things on the kitchen counter.
" Dad, you are back." Daphne said with a tinge of happiness and walked to her dad.
" Good evening Daphne how was work today?" Daphne' s father asked looking at his daughter with a loving gaze.
" Everything was fine today dad, how was your day?."
" It was the same old usually bustle." Daphne's dad replied while looking back down at his calculations about the household expenses. Daphne looked at the table and saw her father's cv "Charles Windsor". It seems her dad went for an Interview today, and with how her dad was desperate with the calculations, she could tell that it didn't go well. Daphne sighed, she felt bad for her dad, he was doing everything he could do support their family. Daphne didn't ask him about it so he would not feel bad.
" How did the toilet paper finish this fast!? Didn't I buy six rolls three weeks ago!?." Daphne's father said in an annoyed tone.
" Lucas!"
" Woah Dad it's ok, I'm here now." Lucas said with fear.
" Why did you finish the rolls?"
" What rolls?."
" The toilet paper rolls." Daphne entered the conversation of interrogating her brother.
" Your opinion is not needed here!." Lucas told Daphne rolling his eyes.
" It is, now answer I and your sister!"
" O o okay, d dad, r really priotize my hygiene s so, anytime I use the t toilet I c clean well." Lucas replying cowering down in fear.
" Lucas!"
After solving the toilet paper issue with her brother and father, after a while everyone retired for bed. With everyone gone, Daphne arranged the sofa to a bed. It was a sofa bed. Daphne slept in the living room because her dad and mum occupied one room and she could never sleep with that swine that was supposed to be her brother so the living room it is. After all, it was close to the kitchen.

Vee, I have settled down

Oh thank heavens I was scared for a minute

Well, I am okay

So, Daphne how was the date?
Daphne
It would have been totally great if the date was not my boss
Vanessa
Okay
Wait what!?
Daphne
Exactly Vanessa it was so embarrassing
Daphne said recalling the situation.
