Chapter 20 - chapter -20"silent storms"

Pov: Ram

The laughter faded.

But her words didn't.

"I don't have feelings for you. I never did."

I wasn't supposed to be there long. Just a casual pass-by.

But the second I saw her standing there — defiant, clear, and bold — something in me paused.

Like time chose to stop... just for her.

Max.

The girl who once named me Mike for reasons she never told.

The one who used to walk beside my cycle, barefoot sometimes, humming a random tune.

She always had a way with the wind — like it listened only to her.

And today?

She shut down Rithul's public crush like slicing through air.

Clean. Honest. No drama.

Everyone saw the rejection.

But I?

I saw something else.

A shadow in her voice. A flicker in her eyes.

Not anger.

Not arrogance.

Emptiness.

.....

Later, I sat alone in my room.

My phone buzzed with a meme from Rithul — something silly. I didn't even open it.

Instead, I stared at the corner of my desk, where a pen she'd once used still lay untouched.

Rithul.

He wasn't a bad guy.

But when he smiled at her earlier — all confident and casual — it twisted something inside me.

Frustration?

No.

Something worse.

Jealousy.....

And guilt.

So much guilt.

Was it me?

Was I the reason she had no interest in love anymore?

I didn't even confess to her back then.

Not a word. Not a hint.

I stood in the shadows while she glowed under every light.

I protected my love so carefully…

That I never gave it a chance to breathe.

And now… she doesn't even want to feel it again.

Because of me?

...

I leaned back, staring at the ceiling.

She's the loveliest girl I've ever known.

Kind. Chaotic. Bright.

Even when she's broken, she shines.

And yet, somehow…

she believes love isn't meant for her.

If only she knew...

If only I had the courage… then.

Now?

Maybe it's too late.

Maybe Rithul's waiting won't matter.

Because the version of her that once believed in love?

Maybe I ruined that.

Authors pov:

The real heartbreak isn't when love ends…

It's when someone stops believing in it —

because of you.
