Chapter 23 - Chapter 23:Evil Power

Within these menacing black mists, Garon sensed an extremely evil, eerie, chaotic, and insane aura.

His heart jolted, and not daring to be careless, he activated the Time Manipulation at its maximum triple speed. His body instantly turned into a white blur, and with remaining strength, he grabbed Ugga Bonecrusher, dodging the spreading black mist.

As for the Thread of Time Steal he had just spat out, there was no feedback indicating it had hit its target.

This breath's power was peculiar, but it greatly required age to amplify its effect. Garon, a hatchling less than two years old, found it somewhat difficult to unleash the true power of the Thread of Time Steal.

"This doesn't seem like any proper magic..."

Garon stared at the black mist that enveloped a space about ten meters in diameter, a trace of apprehension flashing in his dragon eyes.

He keenly felt that this thing was extremely dangerous, definitely not a product of ordinary magic.

Because in Garon's elemental perception as a dragon, at the moment the black mist appeared, the elements of various attributes in the air actually avoided it like snakes and scorpions, unwilling to touch it even a little.

Any elemental energy that didn't manage to dodge in time was absorbed and assimilated by the black mist, becoming a part of it.

Did the two-headed ogre have this ability? How could it feel so evil, like chaotic power from the abyss or hell?

Garon's mind shook.

The bottomless abyss and the nine layers of hell were two outer planes ruled by demons and devils respectively. Countless worlds in the prime material plane had legends about them. Of course, for these existences dedicated to destruction, the records were almost entirely negative warnings and reminders.

Even with the arrogance of dragons, the Dragon Inheritance contained warnings not to easily provoke demons and devils.

Sensing the ominous and evil aura in the black mist, a strong doubt arose in Garon's heart, and he turned his head to look at Ugga Bonecrusher.

Ugga Bonecrusher stared blankly at the changes before him, completely bewildered. It seemed he was completely unaware of the two-headed ogre's black mist ability. After regaining his senses, he jolted, turned his legs, and ran away from Garon and the two-headed ogre, even carrying away the two-headed ogre's dark black spiked club.

Thump!

A muffled sound suddenly rang out from the black mist, like the powerful heartbeat of a giant beast.

The black mist contracted slightly.

Thump thump thump!

After the first heartbeat, strong heartbeats rang out one after another, and the black mist rhythmically contracted non-stop, about to converge into a ball.

Unwilling to sit idly by and watch the opponent change, Garon opened his mouth and spat out frost dragon breath again, but the black mist flickered like a living thing, shifted horizontally to avoid the frost dragon breath, and contracted again at the same time.

Trying to use the Thread of Time Steal again, it was similarly sensed by the opponent and dodged in advance.

Seeing this scene, Garon became even more cautious in his heart.

He spread his dragon wings, already having the thought of immediately flying away if the situation turned bad.

But the two-headed ogre in the black mist seemed to see through Garon's thoughts.

Boom!

A white pillar of magical light shot up through the black mist, soaring into the sky and finally spreading rapidly in all directions at a height of dozens of feet, instantly covering the sky in a region.

At the same time, Garon only felt his body sink, as if he was bound by something.

He sensed a bad omen, flapped his dragon wings wanting to take off, but apart from stirring up a gust of wind, his heavy dragon body didn't show any tendency to fly.

[Seal Sky], an ability to suppress the flying abilities of creatures.

One of the most popular dragon-slaying spells.

Because Garon hadn't learned systematic magic knowledge and didn't master the means to dispel magic, he was somewhat passive for a moment, but he didn't panic, because it was just that he couldn't use his flying ability.

Garon's strength wasn't mainly displayed in flying.

"Creator of all things, great and noble Sun God, your humble believer Serra Bonecrusher will offer you the dragon's heart as a tribute."

"Please grant your believer the power of the Sun God, help your believer slaughter the dragon in blood, and spread your immortal mighty name to the world."

A low, devout, yet bloodthirsty prayer came from the black mist. When the last syllable fell, the several times contracting black mist finally completely disappeared. To be precise, it all submerged into the two-headed ogre's body.

Because the two-headed ogre spoke in Common during its prayer, Garon understood its words.

He was shocked internally, completely unexpected that this fellow would use divine magic.

Divine magic was a spell cast by devout believers of gods, who established a trace of connection with the gods in the outer planes through day and night prayers, using the unique power bestowed by the gods. It had various bizarre and powerful effects.

A two-headed ogre who knew divine magic was not even recorded in the Dragon Inheritance.

"But, how can the divine magic bestowed by the Sun God have such an evil and chaotic feeling?"

Speaking of the Sun God, almost ninety-nine percent of intelligent beings' first impression was vitality, heat, light, life... Garon was no exception, but no matter how he looked at it, he couldn't connect the divine magic cast by the two-headed ogre with the Sun God.

Everything about this matter revealed a strange feeling, but Garon no longer had time to think too much.

Because in his vision, the two-headed ogre, kneeling on both knees and covered in black patterns like wriggling blood vessels, was releasing its clasped hands and slowly standing up. Its two heads and four eyes were all staring at Garon with fanaticism and bloodthirst, sizing him up.

The black blood vessels on its body, upon closer inspection, could be seen as patterns formed by condensed black mist, wriggling non-stop like living things.

The wounds previously caused by Garon's frost dragon breath had already healed under the power of this strange black mist.

In addition to this, behind the two-headed ogre, there were four thick, black fleshy tentacles, stretching out menacingly, densely covered with ominous-looking eyeballs that were constantly rolling in all directions.

It looked creepy.

"What the hell is this?"

Garon had already determined that the god the two-headed ogre believed in was definitely not a proper existence.

He took a deep breath, and with a dragon roar, a torrent of icy blue frost dragon breath erupted.

While spewing dragon breath, Garon activated the highest level of time acceleration he could currently achieve, triple speed.

Consuming a considerable amount of time essence, he extended the effect of triple speed to his dragon breath. The speed of the frost dragon breath was unbelievably fast, just like when he ambushed the two-headed ogre before, making it difficult to dodge.

But the two-headed ogre had almost died once from the ambush and was obviously prepared for the dragon's most famous attack method.

It waved its staff, one large head chanting obscure incantations, while the other small head opened its foul-smelling large mouth. A fiery red pentagram magic circle engraved with complex runes appeared in front of this mouth.

Whoosh!

Surging fire elements were sucked into the small head's mouth like homing birds, turning into a magma-like crimson light, even igniting flames in its oral cavity, causing the temperature around the two-headed ogre to rise steadily.

[Dragon Breath Imitation Spell - Red Dragon Breath]

In an instant, a not-weak stream of fire dragon breath spewed out from the small head's mouth, rapidly magnified by the magic circle, and finally directly collided with Garon's icy blue frost breath.
