Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: The Council That Lied, and the Flame That Refused to Die

Every legacy begins with the lie someone tried to bury.

Sakamoto's Age: 4.5Location: Harrow's Reach — 1 week after the crowningCurrent Status: Watched. Feared. Used.Atmosphere: Silence before the scream

Opening Line:

Some cities remember you with songs. This one remembers you like a wound it never asked for.

Ravian Confronts Cavell

Ravian cornered him in the Black Archive.

Cavell stood over a burning map.

"You knew she was here," Ravian said.

"Lyssia? Of course."

"You signed her into the city yourself."

"And I'd do it again."

He smiled.

"Aevum's past needs to bleed into the present. It's the only way he'll awaken."

"You're trying to awaken a curse, not a savior."

"What's the difference when the world is dying?"

Sakamoto Feels the Shift

That night, I felt it.

Like something inside me was… waiting. Not ready. Not kind.

Niris didn't speak.

She screamed.

"They're trying to force you back into a war," she said.

"I was never in one."

"Yes, you were. You just don't remember the bodies you left behind."

Aelira Reaches Her Limit

She collapsed mid-meal. Glyphs seared her ribs.

Magic flared from her spine now.

Not through her core.

Through her soul.

"I'm burning inside," she gasped."Every spell feels like it's trying to kill me."

I held her hand.

"Then I'll burn with you."

She smiled weakly.

"You idiot."

The Council Votes

Far in the capital, twelve robed figures sat around a burning basin.

They had no names. Only voices.

"The boy has awakened."

"His sword still sleeps."

"Then kill the blade."

"No. Bury the city."

"A single child?"

"Not a child. Not anymore. A Relic-Class Threat."

The vote passed.

Harrow's Reach had been marked.

Final Scene – Lyssia Watches the Fire

From a rooftop, Lyssia watched Aelira get carried inside.

Watched Sakamoto break beneath the weight of names he never asked for.

She whispered:

"You once told me no kingdom should rise from corpses."

"Then why are you building yours on top of mine?"

She opened her palm.

A single spell rune glowed.

And the sky over Harrow's Reach… cracked red.
