The Boss had only been twice as large as a Rank II monster, but Jason could tell that its power was at least three times higher! The Rank II wolves would at least two C Ranks to be defeated, but the Boss would need more than Five C Ranks or a B Rank before it could be defeated! It was a beast on a whole other level.
Jason was only a C Rank himself, so if not for the fact that he had so many subordinates in his Legion, then he could never have won this fight.
Jason looked at what he received as a reward and read the description for the [Book of the Apocalypse]. For a long moment, it almost seemed like a sick joke to him. A mage wrote the book about a Primordial Being trying to conquer Earth? Was that something he could even accept as reality?
But once more, Jason thought about all the things that had happened in the world over the last ten years, and he realized that this wasn't so far-fetched. The possibility of an invading Primordial Being was something he couldn't just overlook.
Jason put the tab aside and decided that he would look through it properly when he had more time.
Some of the wolves came over to Jason once they were done with the fight. Most of them had scratches or tears in their skin, but Jason could see all their scratches healing up right in front of his eyes without him having to do anything.
'Is it cause they're already dead that they don't get seriously injured?'
Jason was curious about this, and he concluded that this had to be the reason. It was a good thing that the wolves were self-healing, so he didn't have to worry about buying healing items or hiring a healer.
The wolves came close, and many of them prodded him with their noses and licked him playfully. Jason smiled at them and petted the heads of the ones that were very close. He watched as they all sat down around him in a protective semicircle, like a pack sitting around their alpha.
Jason didn't bother himself with their actions any more than that as he turned to look at the tab that opened in front of him when that one wolf was killed.
Jason had no idea what would happen to a member of his Legion if it died, but he was surprised when he saw what was written in the message.
——
A Pawn Rank II [Moonlight Wolf] has been killed.
Revival Cost: 40MP
Revive: Yes/No
——
A Pawn Rank I [Moonlight Wolf] has been killed.
Revival Cost: 10MP
Revive: Yes/No
——
'So I can just revive them!?'
Jason was shocked! He thought that the wolves were lost forever after it died, but now he was seeing that he could just sacrifice some MP to revive the beast after it died! Jason looked at the amount of MP he needed and then remembered that the Rank II wolves all had two hundred units of MP while the Rank I's all had fifty units of MP. Does that mean he only needs to sacrifice one-fifth of the subordinate's MP to revive them after death?
[Yes, that is correct. In order to revive a dead subordinate, the user must sacrifice one-fifth of the subordinate's MP.]
[Will the user like to automate this action? This will allow the system to carry out revivals without the user's confirmation. Yes/No]
Jason read through the message and was about to press yes, but he stopped when he thought about it again. Automating the action sounded good in theory. It would save him a lot of time and he wouldn't need to run out of subordinates when he was in a fight.
But what would happen if he was low on mana and the system just kept taking it to revive dying subordinates? That could spell trouble if he was in a bad situation and needed to preserve mana. Jason knew he was going to get a lot more subordinates in the future and he would need a lot more mana to handle them all. If he ever faced off against a very dangerous beast that killed many subordinates at once, he wouldn't want to revive them all and drain his mana too quickly.
'Can you semi-automate it? Automate the revival until my mana reaches 50%. Afterward, you need to ask before reviving any subordinate.'
[Command accepted. The system has set [Subordinate Revival] to Semi-automated.]
A bright purple light shone in front of Jason, and he watched as the Rank II and Rank I wolves that had been killed were suddenly reconstructed from the ground up into their full form again. 50MP left Jason, but he didn't really care since he had a lot of MP from resurrecting the other wolves.
The revived wolves came over to Jason and nuzzled again his face happily in thanks, and Jason petted them on the head and told them that they were welcome.
'Go stay with the others.'
Jason commanded the wolf, and they trudged over to where the others were lying on the ground before joining them.
Jason looked around and he saw that he had a lot more subordinates now.
After reviving the fifteen regular wolves and the one subordinate of the Boss that was killed, Jason gained sixteen new subordinates.
The subordinate of the Boss ended up having the same stats as the Pawn Rank II wolves when Jason looked at the screen above its head.
——
[Moonlight Wolf]
[Pawn Class Rank II]
[Upgrade Points [0/5]]
[Upgrade Limit: Bishop Class Rank I]
——
But unlike the other Pawn Rank II's that had an upgrade limit of Rook Class Rank III, these wolves had an upgrade limit of Bishop Class Rank I. That meant they could be upgraded once more than the others and they could also be stronger.
Also, unlike the regular wolves that only gave 30 kill points for each kill, these wolves gave Jason 70 kill points, bringing his total number up to [330] kill points.
Jason decided that he would use some of the Kill points to upgrade the Rank II wolves to Rank III. Since he got a thousand free kill points from killing the Boss, he could upgrade two Rank II wolves.
Jason turned to look through his stats.
——
STATISTICS
Strength: A
Stamina: B
Agility: B
Durability: C
——
Jason's stats had also seen a massive boost after he got the new subordinates. His strength was now at A Rank, with his stamina and agility being at B rank. The only thing in C was his durability, but he knew that it was because the wolves weren't very durable, so he didn't mind.
Jason reached out to a wolf that was nuzzling his leg with its nose and he pet its head gently while still looking through his system.
Jason didn't really know how to gauge the strength of the other superhumans since he hadn't met many of them before, but he remembered Gina's strength from all the times she would put him in a headlock, and with what he had now, he knew that he would be able to overpower her easily.
His entire body felt like it was overflowing with power.
If he was this much stronger than her, then didn't that mean he would easily overpower any B Rank?
Jason laughed at the realization that hit him. He just completed an entire Red Gate on his own and he was talking about being as strong as a B Rank.
Even A ranks find it hard to clear out a Red Gate alone! He had to be the most powerful B Rank superhuman in the world!
Jason shook his head and he finally turned to look at the last two dead wolves. The subordinate of the Boss, and the Boss itself.
There was a strange feeling that came over Jason when he looked at the dead body of the Boss, like he would have to face another challenge very soon.
But Jason had never allowed fear to stop him from doing anything before, and he spoke up with confidence.
"Resurrect."
The clearing pulsed with his mana as the soul of the Boss' subordinate was pulled out of its body! The wolf howled into the air before stalking over to Jason and greeting him kindly. It then went to sit with its brothers.
Jason glared at the body of the Boss when he didn't see it resurrecting and he stood.
The system did say that he would have to possess a stronger will than the beast before he could make it his subordinate, and Jason realized that the Boss was actively rejecting his summons.
[Predator's Gaze] has been activated!
Jason's eyes bled to red as an aura of domination descended on the entire clearing and all the wolves whined and bowed their heads once they felt it.
Jason poured his mana forward with a heavy glare on his face as he spoke.
"You fought well against me army, but you lost, so you have no say in this matter! You will obey me, whether you like it or not! I said RESURRECT!"
Boom!
The entire clearing suddenly pulsed with pure power as Jason's mana tore into the body of the Boss and grabbed its soul before pulling it out forcefully!
The Boss slammed its massive paw into the ground and released a low growl before raising its head and howling into the full moon.
