The man apologized, and Gina clicked her tongue before she turned to the Gate and squeezed her hands into fists! She couldn't stay out here and do nothing! Jason was still alive! He had to be alive!
If there was one thing Gina knew about Jason, it was that he cared about his family more than anything in this world! He wouldn't leave his mother and sisters behind after working so hard to make sure they were taken care of! There was no way Jason would leave them behind like this!
Gina's guild was also sending out a request to enter the Gate, but Gina knew that there was no chance that they would win. Her guild was a D-rank guild that only got one or two Gate missions every two months. They got one last week, so they wouldn't be getting another one for four weeks at least!
Gina needed to get in there! She couldn't leave Jason alone!
"I'm going in."
"Ma'am, please stop. It's against the law for any superhuman to enter the Gate without permission from the government!"
"I don't need permission! I'll apologize later, so get out of my way! Don't make me hurt you!"
Gina's eyes started to shine with power as her mana came to life and a strong wind began to rise around her body! The policeman took even more steps back in fear! The military men around began turning their guns toward Gina as they prepared to attack her. They were there to prevent anyone from messing with the Gate, so they had every right to attack Gina if she tried to break through.
But before Gina could do anything, the reporters behind her suddenly went wild.
"It's the Hornet guild! The B-ranked Hornet Guild is here!"
"Madam Rose! Madam Rose, please look over here!"
"I'm your biggest fan, Madam Rose, please give me a moment for an interview!"
"Madam Rose, what do you plan to do in the Gate? What formation will you take?"
"Madam Rose! I'm from the YKTV channel! Please give a few words to those at home! How do you intend to handle the Gate!?"
"Madam Rose, who are you planning to bring with you inside the Gate!?"
A group of people started to walk through the crowd of journalists. There were more than ten of them, but the person leading them was a woman wearing a pair of black baggy jeans, a white crop top, and a red jacket over it. On her hands, she wore black fingerless gloves.
She was an exceptionally beautiful woman with a modest, athletic figure. She had blood-red hair that was cut short into a bob. Her eyes were a piercing black, and her face was set into a serious look that made it obvious she was not the sort of person you wanted to joke with!
She was Rose. One of the five B-rank superhumans in their city and the leader of the Hornet Guild.
She was a Brawler-type superhuman, with a fire-based ability that allowed her to channel explosions through her fists with each blow. They say her punches were strong enough to demolish houses without her even trying!
As she got close, her eyes landed on Gina, and she frowned at her before speaking up in disinterest.
"I didn't think low-class guilds were going to be in the area. What are you doing here? Did your guild master send you to stand in line in case he got the contract? What a waste of your time."
Gina didn't even bother rising to the bait. Gina already knew that Rose's personality was not something that anyone could get used to. Rose was pompous and extremely prideful. She was the sort of person who would rather see you under her feet than see you standing beside her.
And since she was also powerful, that only served to make her ego more inflated!
But Gina didn't have any choice right now! The Hornet Guild had obviously won the contract for this Gate, so she had to ask them for help.
Gina came over and pleaded with Rose.
"Please, Madam Rose, let me go inside the Gate with you."
Rose raised a brow in confusion before turning away in disinterest.
"If you're trying to make a move to join my guild, then you should apply like everyone else. I don't appreciate back-alley deals or traitors."
"No, that's not what I meant! Someone I love is inside there. He was taken in when the Gate opened. I want to go look for him. Just… please, I'm begging you to help me. I'll pay anything to help him. I'll give you all the money I have! My entire savings! Just let me come with you."
Madam Rose laughed before waving Gina away in annoyance.
"Your entire savings wouldn't even be enough to buy my toilet paper. Get the hell out of here. We both know that the people who are sucked in when Gates emerge always die. Your friend is definitely gone. You won't even find a body!"
Gina's hand tightened into a fist as she thought about swinging on Rose's smug face right then! How dare she say Jason was dead!? Even if everyone in the world says that Gina should accept reality, Gina refuses to accept that as her reality! She was already angry enough at the fact that Jason was trapped in the Gate, so being told he was dead was the last thing she wanted!
Madam Rose ignored the angry look on Gina's face and started to walk away. She didn't have time to handle emotional nonsense! But she was surprised when a hand grabbed her from behind and pulled her back! Gina had a desperate look in her eyes as she spoke angrily.
"I don't care what you say about me! I don't even care if you think I'm a fool! Or an idiot! But don't you dare say Jason is dead! I'm going in there with you whether you like it or not, and I'll find him! You don't have to help me, just take me inside, and I'll leave you to do whatever you want!"
Gina's face was twisted into a look of pure fury, and for a moment, Rose was actually thrown aback by the intensity of Gina's emotion! What in the world would prompt someone to throw away all the caution in their heart for the sake of such a foolish mission!? Is this what love could do to a person? How stupid!
Gina knew that Rose was far more powerful than her, so the fact that she was going this far against someone who could easily defeat her was shocking!
Rose's surprise lasted for a long moment, but then at the next moment, the surprise was replaced with pure fury, and she lashed out and grabbed Gina by the shirt!
The reporters in the back all yelled in shock once they saw smoke rising from Rose's fist, and their cameras clicked rapidly as Rose lifted Gina off her feet and into the air with only one hand!
Seeing a battle between superhumans was unheard of because the government had imposed sanctions on all the superhumans which prevented them from using their abilities outside the Gate! Using your abilities without permission was enough to make you a criminal immediately and the government would hunt you down! So right now, they were seeing something that was big enough to become an entire scandal!
Click! Click! Click! Click!
The light and shuttering of cameras filled the street, and even the policemen who were standing around began to take steps back as they felt pressure filling the area! Rose's mana was slowly leaking in her anger, and they knew they would only end up as collateral damage if these two superhumans fought there.
Rose glared up at Gina while tightening her hand against her shirt before she spoke angrily.
"You better watch yourself from here on. I tolerated you because I wanted to, so don't think for a moment that I can't ruin your life if you get on my nerves!"
Gina held onto Rose's hand desperately! Her feet were off the ground, but she was still glaring down at Rose! She wasn't going to let this go no matter what! If Rose wasn't going to look for Jason, then she was going to enter that Gate whether they liked it or not!
A man suddenly walked up to the two women and put his hand on Rose's shoulder.
"Rose, that's enough. You're causing a scene."
