He made the call.
"Hello, is this the police? I want to turn myself in."
The silence on the other end felt eternal. Then—click. Line transferred. Connected.
"You've already turned yourself in," the voice said. Not the dispatcher.
"Who is this?"
"The part of you you've been chasing."
The 'I'.
"You're in the phone now?"
Laughter. "I'm in everything. I'm in you."
"What do you want?"
"To finish what we started."
Ji-hoon stared at the wall. At the cracks that looked like veins. Like they pulsed.
He hung up.
Then—another call. From the guard.
"DNA results came in. The woman who visited you... not Su-yeon. Not exactly."
"Then who?"
"A match. But only 94%."
Clone? Sister? Reflection?
Ji-hoon stood. "I need to find my real father. The one in the records."
"Why?" the guard asked.
"Because this didn't start with me. And it won't end with me either."
Ji-hoon looked into the mirror of his cell. For once, the reflection matched.
He smiled. His own.
