The Beast's Challenge
The creature towered over Kael, its monstrous form blending muscle and shadow, pulsating with unnatural energy. It moved with an eerie grace, as if each motion was calculated, deliberate.
Kael stood firm, his blade humming with power. He had faced countless horrors since the apocalypse began, but this one… this was different. This thing was watching him, measuring him.
"Why do you hesitate?" the beast rumbled. "You have power beyond mortals. Show me! Prove you are worthy of your throne."
Kael's eyes narrowed. Throne? He had heard such words before. In dreams. In visions. In whispers carried by the wind. But there was no time to dwell on it.
The beast lunged.

A Battle Beyond Mortals
Their clash shattered the ground. Shockwaves rippled outward, tearing through stone and debris. Kael met the beast's charge head-on, his blade colliding against claws that could rend steel like paper.
The impact sent him skidding back, his boots carving trenches into the earth. The beast barely moved. It grinned, revealing rows of jagged teeth. "You are strong. But not yet complete."
Kael tightened his grip. "Then let's see what 'complete' looks like."
He vanished.
In a blur of motion, he appeared behind the creature, his blade already descending. But the beast anticipated it. With impossible speed, it spun, catching the blade in its clawed hand. Sparks flew as raw energy crackled between them.
Kael felt it then—a pull. A strange familiarity in the beast's power. Like something deep within him recognized it.
"Who are you?" he growled.
The beast chuckled. "Your shadow."
Then, with an explosion of force, it hurled him backward.

The Unraveling Seal
Kael crashed through the remnants of a ruined building, dust and rubble cascading around him. Pain flared through his body, but he ignored it. He had endured worse. He pushed himself up, only to feel something shift inside him.
Memories. Faint, fleeting. A throne beneath a dark sky. A sword wreathed in divine fire. A battle that spanned the cosmos. And a name—his true name—just beyond reach.
The beast advanced, slow and deliberate. "You are not ready," it said. "But soon… you will be."
Before Kael could react, the creature's form dissolved, vanishing into the wind like smoke.
Elyra rushed to his side, her weapon still raised. "What the hell was that?"
Kael exhaled, gripping his head as the echoes of forgotten memories faded. "A warning."
The old man frowned. "Or a promise."

The Next Step
They couldn't stay here. Not now. Kael glanced at the ruins around them. This city had given them answers, but also raised more questions. If he wanted the truth, he needed to keep moving.
"We find the next temple," he said. "Before they find us."
The journey was far from over.
