A Road of Trials
Kael and his companions pressed on, their journey taking them deeper into the forgotten ruins of an ancient civilization. The land bore scars of battles long past—crumbling towers, shattered bridges, and statues worn down by time. Despite the destruction, an eerie energy pulsed beneath their feet, as if the earth itself remembered the past.
Elyra tightened her grip on her weapon. "The hunters won't stop. That leader knew you, Kael. We need answers."
Kael nodded. "And we'll find them in the Temple of the Forgotten. If it still stands."

The Guardian of the Gate
After hours of travel, they reached a massive canyon. Spanning its width was an ancient stone bridge, leading to a colossal gate embedded into the mountainside. Strange runes pulsed faintly along its surface.
Before they could cross, a deep growl echoed through the canyon. A towering beast emerged from the shadows, its form shifting like smoke and steel. It had three pairs of glowing eyes, each fixated on Kael.
"Another trial," Elyra muttered.
The beast spoke, its voice like grinding stone. "Only the worthy may pass. Prove your strength."
Kael didn't hesitate. Drawing his blade, he stepped forward. "Then let's begin."

Clash of Titans
The battle was ferocious. The guardian moved with unnatural speed, each strike of its massive claws sending shockwaves through the air. Kael dodged, his instincts sharper than ever. His sword met the beast's talons, sparks flying with every impact.
The guardian roared, unleashing a surge of dark energy. Kael countered with a burst of his own power—golden light clashing against abyssal darkness. The force of their collision cracked the very ground beneath them.
As the dust settled, Kael stood firm while the beast staggered. Its form flickered, then solidified once more. It let out a low rumble, almost… approvingly.
"You are stronger than before," it said. "But strength alone is not enough. Prove your resolve."

A Choice of Fate
The guardian raised a single claw, pointing toward Elyra and the old man. "Sacrifice one, and you may enter."
Kael's blood ran cold. "What?"
"This temple does not welcome the weak. Choose. Or be denied."
Elyra's eyes darkened. "This is a test, Kael. Don't play its game."
Kael tightened his grip on his sword. He had gained power, but what was power if it meant betraying those who stood by him?
"I refuse," he declared. "If strength means casting aside my allies, then I'll find another way."
The guardian let out a deep laugh. Then, with a single swipe, it struck the gate behind it. The runes ignited, and the colossal doors groaned open.
"A wise choice. You may pass."

The Path Within
Kael exchanged a look with Elyra and the old man before stepping forward. The temple's dark entrance loomed before them, whispering promises of knowledge and danger alike.
Elyra smirked. "No turning back now."
Kael exhaled, then took the first step inside.
The Temple of the Forgotten had finally opened its secrets to him.
