What would his nephew do to him if he let it slip that he had sent a woman to him a month ago? And in front of his wife nonetheless.
He shuddered at the thought.
Leng Pan of course knew what he was going to say. She had read the book after all, and to emphasize the male lead's love for the second female lead, such details as relatives sending women to him and him kicking them out without mercy and falling out with said relatives were explained.
But she didn't think it was necessary to fuss over such trivial things.
"Hello Uncle Li. Lu Zhen and I got our marriage license yesterday, that's why he didn't go to work. But we came to pick the food you have prepared to deliver for celebration. Thank you for your hard work." Leng Pan interjected and saved the old man from embarrassment.
"Ah!! That's good to hear. You can use the food truck at the back to deliver the food. Take everything and come back for what I am making.
I made all the orders for three days. I wanted to rest tomorrow, but hearing your good news, I will spend tomorrow making desserts for you to distribute too. Something as significant as marriage needs us to give out sweets, not just food." Uncle Li was happy that the young girl had saved his skin and offered more things.
"Okay, thank you Uncle Li." Leng Pan replied and grabbed Lu Zhen's hand as she led him to the back of the restaurant to check the food truck.
"Make sure you add candied fruits in the sweets you make. They are Panpan's favorite." Lu Zhen said to his uncle as if he was giving orders to his subordinate.
"Okay okay, don't worry, I'll make whatever my little niece-in-law likes to eat." Funny enough, Uncle Li wasn't offended and even happily replied and ran back to the kitchen.
Leng Pan looked at this scene and laughed. It was funny to see an elder behave like a quail in front of a junior.
"Do you think there is a way we could warn your uncle to stock up on supplies before the day after tomorrow? Or maybe we can have his family move in with us. The apartments are so big anyway and having more family isn't too bad either." Leng Pan suggested.
"It's going to be difficult to warn people without raising suspicions, but I do have a way to have them move in with me. His family only has him and his wife.
They never had a child, which is why he treats my brother and I as his own children.
He is also devoted to my aunt and refused to listen to the relatives and society who urged him to divorce his wife and marry someone who could give birth or look for a woman outside to have a child with.
Despite all the challenges, he has lived a happy life with aunt, which is why even though he does some absurd things sometimes, I let it go. It's because I know he is just worried about me and wants me to find my own happiness." Lu Zhen explained.
He knew that even though his uncle always acts as if he is afraid of him, it's actually a way of indulging him. So, he was delighted when Leng Pan suggested having him move in with them
He would be happy to have more family members stay together because that way, he could ensure their safety.
Lu Zhen squeezed the hand holding his slightly.
"Thank you Panpan. It means a lot to have my uncle with us in such a disaster."
"Don't mention it. If they are your family, they are my family. Since he is someone you are willing to protect, then I will help you protect them. The only relatives I don't want to associate with are the troublesome ones." She replied to him as she squeezed back his hand.
"There are no other people I am interested in protecting. All the other relatives only treat me well on the surface because they have something to gain from me, not because they care about me. So let them be."
He was not a saint, nor was he stupid. He knew what his other relatives were like, and he would not bring disaster to his own home.
Having his wife, mother, brother, uncle, and aunt was enough.
"Alright, let's transfer the food into the truck and then go to the car dealership to get the RVS I ordered.
Now that the family is bigger, I don't know if that one RVS will be enough. I think it only has two bedrooms. We need two more bedrooms." Leng Pan said.
"You even bought an RVS? Looks like you really prepared well. Don't worry about the bedrooms. I will get another modified one from a friend who deals with car modifications.
I am sure he will have something good on short notice.
But I think getting one with three bedrooms will be better. That way, you and I can have the one you ordered to ourselves and don't have to share with others." Lu Zhen replied as he took out his phone to make a call to his friend.
When he hung up the call, he had already secured a modified RVS and Humvee with state of the art technology, three bedrooms, and galvanized coating.
It was designed for survival in harsh conditions and harsh weather. Perfect for the apocalypse.
They spent forty-five minutes loading the food truck and drove off. Reaching an alley that had no surveillance and traffic, they drove in and Leng Pan went into the back of the truck and transferred all the food in the space.
From there they headed to the car dealership where they found the RVS ready. Leng Pan paid the remaining money and drove in the RVS while Lu Zhen drove the food truck.
She had already collected the other Hummer two days prior.
The two then drove back to the villa and packed the cars in the garage before Leng Pan transferred the RVS into the space warehouse.
