"You stinky fucker, you dare point at my man?" Jack said, pointing a finger at the server.
"I didn't know you swing that way, sir. But I wasn't pointing to the burly man. The one who ordered me is behind him."
Barco turned and saw Cindy's former boss beelining for the exit. Jack's eyes went down to the man's hands, and he had the rings which he saw in the footage.
No wonder he looked at me like he wanted to kill me.
Guilt was written all over his face. Especially because while everyone was there, the man and his associates were heading towards the exit. If the server didn't spot them, they would have left the building by now.
The man must have harbored some serious ill-intentions towards Cindy. Still, it was too much of a coincidence. The guy paid the server, that much was certain, but the server only handed the glasses to James. It was James who gave the glass to Cindy.
Something isn't adding up…
Just then, the man clapped before pointing at Cindy.
"So this is your plan to humiliate me, Myers?" he said. "I never thought you would go as far as harming Mr. Oshineda just to frame me. Your plans are just as useless as your heart behind all that makeup."
"Mr. Schwartz, mind your words! Do I need to remind you of what happened during my entrance? One of your underlings tried to ruin my—"
Cindy tried fighting back, but she was clearly out of her depth. Even though she wasn't being as soft-spoken as before, she wasn't someone used to such public spectacles. Fortunately for her, she knew someone who was great at turning public opinions in his favor.
"Mr. Schwartz, was it?" Jack intervened. "Why don't we hold our accusations till the cops arrive? I'm sure your innocence would be proven once they check the kitchen's surveillance footage."
"And who are you to tell me what to do?" Schwartz scoffed. "Just because you have two brutes by your side doesn't mean you can say whatever you want. For all we know, this server could be colluding with you."
They were in the middle of throwing accusations on one another when the hotel manager appeared there. He looked flustered, and his late arrival was also suspicious.
There was such a big incident in his hotel, and he is only showing up now? The manager should have been the first one there, not the last.
Jack didn't point it out, but he scrutinized the manager's smallest actions, and the not he gave to Schwartz didn't go unnoticed by him.
Erasing evidence, huh? No wonder Schwartz was acting so confidently.
The manager had the authority to delete any footage from the archive. It was possible Schwartz had bought the manager as well, and made him do the dirty work.
How deep are this guy's pockets?
Since Schwartz owned one of the leading talent and entertainment agencies, he was loaded. It was obvious he would use that money to cover his tracks.
"Leave the server with Barco and get that tablet from the rooftop."
Takeshi rolled his eyes before shoving the server aside and leaving. Schwartz nodded towards him, and the manager immediately ran an interference.
"Hey, this is a crime scene. No one is permitted to leave before the investigation is over!" he said.
Immediately, half a dozen guards surrounded Takeshi, their hands resting on their batons. Takeshi looked at Jack, as if asking for permission to engage. As much as Jack wanted a showdown, it wasn't his style.
"Fine, let's wait for the cops to get here."
Schwartz smiled when Jack said that. Obviously, he must have some connections to them as well, but he wasn't the only one who did.
>> Come to the Oriental Bliss. I need your help.
Jack sent a message to Angela. Although she had been demoted, she could at least stir up trouble, because she was trouble incarnate.
Meanwhile, Anna's secretary leaned into her ears.
"Ma'am, should we help him?"
"No need," Anna replied.
She was too disappointed to help Jack. She handed him the one thing that could have solved all the drama by itself, and he forgot to bring it with him?
This problem was Jack's own creation and he would have to get out of it by himself.
But luck had other plans.
Just then, the manager's phone rang. No one knew what happened, but suddenly, he didn't want any cops inside the premises.
"I think this is all a big misunderstanding," the manager said after getting off a phone call. "The server mixed up a gentleman's medical prescription. I deeply apologize for this."
No one bought that excuse, not even the negative IQ get-ready-with-me influencers. The manager had been on Schwartz's side all along and suddenly he went against him?
Jack thought it was Anna's doing. It made sense, considering she held much more influence than Schwartz. However, she thought the opposite, wondering if it was Jack's doing.
"What do you mean, there was a mixup?" Mira questioned. "Who takes there sleeping pills with alcohol?"
"Ma'am, I know you're angry, and rightfully so. But it was a home-remedy med belonging to one of our guest staying here. I suggest you let things go—"
He had barely said it when Schwartz grabbed the manager by the collar. Clearly he was angry since this wasn't the plan, but it seemed the manager had more things to worry about and immediately pushed Schwartz back.
"Sir, please keep your hands to yourself," he said, before hurrying to Mira's and Cindy's side. "Ladies, the mentioned guest has offered to compensate you for trouble. I request you to settle this matter for now."
"You think money can fix everything?" Cindy asked, shaking her head in disbelief.
"Yes. Who do you think we are? No amount of money can buy my morals."
"Five million dollars, each."
"Deal."
Jack was surprised at their shamelessness. Their so-called morals didn't even last a minute against the offer.
I get it in Cindy's case. She needed a job, now she got money instead, but Mira, too?
