Chapter 12 - Chapter 13 – The Art of Combat Evolution

Oliver Queen had always believed that adaptability was the key to survival. Back in Star City, his battles had never been won through brute force alone—he had relied on strategy, speed, and an understanding of his enemies' weaknesses. But here, in this world of chakra and ninjutsu, he was beginning to realize something crucial: if he wanted to survive, he couldn't just be fast or strong. He had to evolve.

And to do that, he needed to think beyond just taijutsu and archery.

Training with the Beast of Konoha

The sun burned high in the sky as Oliver once again faced Might Guy in the training grounds. His muscles ached from their previous sessions, and sweat clung to his skin, but he refused to stop.

"YOUTH KNOWS NO LIMITS!" Guy shouted, launching a spinning kick toward Oliver's chest.

Oliver barely managed to block with his tonfa, the force of the blow sending him skidding backward. His feet dug into the dirt as he righted himself, already preparing for the next attack.

Guy didn't stop. He dashed forward, fists blurring as he unleashed a flurry of attacks. Oliver tried to keep up, blocking with his tonfa and dodging where he could, but Guy's movements were overwhelming. Every time Oliver thought he saw an opening, Guy would shift his stance, his attacks flowing seamlessly from one technique to the next.

A straight punch came at Oliver's face. He twisted to the side, but Guy was already pivoting into a spinning back kick. Oliver had no time to dodge.

Think!

Instead of fighting the force, Oliver raised his tonfa, angling it to deflect the kick. Rather than just blocking, he used Guy's momentum against him, letting the force slide off his weapon as he spun away, creating an opening.

For the first time, Guy grinned.

"GOOD! You're starting to understand the flow of combat!"

Oliver exhaled, lowering his tonfa. "Yeah, but it's not enough. If I rely only on reacting, I'll never keep up with someone as fast as you."

Guy gave him a thumbs-up. "Then we'll train until you can keep up!"

Oliver shook his head. "No… I need to do more than that. I need to create something new."

Thinking Beyond the Ninja World

That night, as Oliver rested under the stars, he thought about everything he had seen so far. The way ninjas moved, the way they combined techniques. Then his mind drifted back to his past life—not just to his own skills, but to the things he had seen in comics, movies, and other worlds.

He had always adapted, always borrowed techniques when necessary. So why not now?

His mind raced.

Grappling arrows gave me mobility in Star City. Could I replicate that here?

Ninjas in this world use speed and chakra control to enhance their movements. But what if I combined that with something like… the way martial artists in other stories use footwork?

What if I combined archery with taijutsu in a way they'd never seen before?

The idea began to take shape.

He thought of anime characters who used momentum-based fighting styles, warriors who used weapons fluidly in combination with their own bodies. If I can't match their speed, I'll use their momentum against them.

He remembered fighters who struck with precision, targeting pressure points. I don't need chakra to hit a vital spot.

He recalled legends of archers who could fire arrows with impossible angles. If I can curve my shots, predict movements, then I don't need direct speed—I just need to be where they will be.

Oliver sat up suddenly, his mind racing.

He needed to test this.

The Birth of a New Style

The next day, Oliver returned to the training grounds. He still had bruises from the previous fight, but that didn't matter.

"Alright, Guy. One more round."

Guy's grin widened. "EXCELLENT! SHOW ME YOUR FLAMES OF YOUTH!"

Oliver tightened his grip on his tonfa, but this time, he had a plan.

Guy lunged. Instead of blocking, Oliver angled his tonfa differently—redirecting the attack rather than stopping it. He moved with Guy, sidestepping at the last second and striking at an exposed joint.

Not hard enough to injure—but enough to stagger.

Guy's eyes gleamed. "OH? YOU'RE ADAPTING!"

Oliver didn't stop. He flipped back, reaching for his bow—then used it like a staff, spinning it in tandem with his tonfa, creating a shifting defense that kept Guy at bay while allowing him to counterattack.

Then he did something different. He fired an arrow mid-motion.

Guy dodged, but the arrow wasn't aimed directly at him. Instead, it struck a tree behind him, ricocheting back—forcing Guy to move into Oliver's range.

That's when Oliver struck, using the tonfa to sweep his legs out.

Guy flipped away at the last second, laughing. "INCREDIBLE! YOU'RE TURNING YOUR ARCHERY INTO A STYLE OF HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT!"

Oliver breathed heavily but smirked. "Told you. I'm not just learning. I'm evolving."

A Style Unlike Any Other

For the next few days, Oliver refined this new method. He combined archery with taijutsu, tonfa strikes with precision-based attacks, and evasive maneuvers with well-placed shots.

He studied footwork techniques from martial arts he remembered, incorporating fluid movements to avoid damage while preparing counters. He even experimented with grappling techniques, using his arrows to control an enemy's movement rather than just attacking outright.

By the end of the week, even Guy was impressed.

"You, my friend, are truly something else," he said, clapping Oliver on the back. "Your fighting style is still in its infancy, but it's yours."

Oliver nodded. "Yeah. And I'm just getting started."

The Anbu's Decision

Unbeknownst to Oliver, from the shadows, the Anbu had been watching.

"He's growing stronger," one of them whispered.

"Too strong," another replied. "If he continues like this, we'll have no choice but to intervene."

"But is he a threat?"

Silence.

For now, they would watch. But soon, the village would have to decide what to do with the outsider who was becoming more powerful by the day.

Because Oliver Queen wasn't just adapting to their world.

He was changing it.
