Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Prepare for Trouble and Make it Double

Janurary 5th, 2011

"That fucking bald-headed motherfucker!" yelled a man in a three-piece suit as he threw his computer to the ground destroying it. Ever since LexCorp revealed the arc reactor, his company's stock prices have been steadily declining. Everywhere he looked, the internet, television, even his phone, he was constantly told that the use of oil may be obsolete.

Samuel Cabot owned Cabot Energy, an oil and gas company. His family had owned this company since the late 1800s and it became extremely influential in the world. However, Lex Luthor was now a threat to him and his family's company. Many other oil barrens shared the same sentiment as him. Though Luthour's device was barely three weeks old, if it truly worked, the use of oil would cease to exist and so too would their fortunes.

Samuel Cabot looked at his secretary and screamed at her, "Call these 14 people right now! Tell them that we need to have a meeting as soon as possible!"

His secretary immediately left to do the task assigned to her, not saying anything for fear of enraging her employer.

January 10th 2011

It had been five days since Samuel Cabot had sent his secretary to message these 14 other individuals. These 14 people that he had contacted were the most influential and richest people who would have been affected by the arc reactor if they let things continue like this. He needed to make sure that reliance on oil did not end.

"Thank you all for making the time in your busy schedules to make this meeting. The reason why I have called you all here is because we are all being affected by the creation of the arc reactor. If we do not put a stop to this now, we will suffer tremendous losses much worse some of us may even become bankrupt," declared Samuel.

"Let's hurry this up, I have a plane to catch soon, you are lucky I even made time for this meeting," complained a Middle Eastern man.

"He is right. Why are we even here? I already hired some professionals to handle the situation," an older English gentleman casually said.

Samuel looked at the Englishman with surprise on his face. The older gentleman was Ashton Ford from Ford Enterprises. They created motorized vehicles from family minivans to military tanks. He would greatly be affected by the loss of oil-based vehicles. He was an older man in his late 50s and was known for his quick temper and ruthless business practices.

Surprise was easily replaced with wrath, and with suppressed anger and gritted teeth, Samuel questioned, "You hired someone to kill him? Are you out of your mind, what happens if it gets traced back to you?"

"Don't tell me the great Cabot family is afraid of some young upstart, I understand if you were cautious with his father, but Lex Luthor is no different than a defanged, declawed kitten," stated the older man nonchalantly. This earned him a few laughs from those around him.

Samuel easily regretted holding this meeting. He had met Lex once. At first glance, all anyone could see was a quiet and introverted lanky kid who was incredibly smart, but there was a reason why LexCorp was now solely owned by Lex himself even when so many affluential people coveted it. After meeting Lex that one time, he understood that he was not an enemy he would like to face. The only reason why he even decided to go against him is because if he foresaw that he would go bankrupt within a few years if he did not have another form of business. He held this meeting thinking with the combined might of the 14 of them that they could easily take down Lex Luthor. However, now, he could not help but think that they were eventually going to drag him down to hell instead.

He sighed, feeling defeated since no matter what he does now they will drag him down as an accomplice. They even have the proof to back it up because it was him who came to them first and it was him who decided to host it. At this point, Samuel decided he will have to fully contribute to the assassination of Lex because he was damned either way.

"At least tell us all then who you decided to hire. If it is some third-rate, then we might as well just turn ourselves in," Samuel said tiredly.

"Of course not, I hired someone who gave the famous Dark Knight of Gotham a run for his money, Dead Shot!" the old man proudly declared.

As if per cue, a man in a white mask with a red eye lens on the right side walked into the meeting room. He stood at 6' 1", had some unusual gauntlets attached to both his arms, and wore body armor over his red clothes.

"I also hired some muscle as well just in case. He calls himself 'Bane'." The old man stated snapping his fingers.

A giant of a man walked into the conference room. He stood at 6'5", wore a black and white Luchador mask, and had two green tubes connected to his arms originating from his back.

"You do not have to worry about your problems. Lex Luthor will be no more!" the Luchador proudly exclaimed chuckling.

Deadshot coldly stated, "Just make sure that you send the half as soon as this is over, as per our contract, or else the deals off."

Samuel was surprised when he saw the two of them. For one, this was supposed to be a secret meeting, which he had explicitly told them. So seeing these two people infuriated him because this was an obvious disrespect towards him since Ashton Ford brought murders into his home. Secondly, these two were famous mercenaries because they had both nearly killed Batman. So hiring them was no easy feat, much less contacting them.

Samuel was very reluctant to admit it, but maybe they did have a chance of assassinating Lex Luthor. The other 14 members seemed to agree as well. He just hoped that this was not going to end up regretting his decision. He originally did not want to kill Lex, not that he was above killing a competitor, but he was just wary of him. However, he could not come up with another solution. If he was still around, even if the device were to disappear, the creator could just recreate it. Not used to being a follower, he reluctantly agreed with Ashton Ford stating, "Alright then, let us kill Lex Luthor."
