Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: IMA FIRIN MAH LAZER!

January 31, 2011

Location: Star City

POV: Bane

"Boss, that is the last of his men! informed one of my men. However, I did not care for these small fish. I wanted my prize.

"Where is he? Where is Lex!" I bellowed. That fucking rat escaped somehow! That is when my men and I saw an object fall from the sky and crash down about four miles away. I quickly hopped on top of my vehicle and yelled, "Go there!" pointing toward where the object had landed. I felt that whatever that was, it would lead me to Lex.

I sounded like the brute people thought of me as due to the venom running through my veins. That was due to its side effects, pero joder! It felt amazing! No other drug in the world could come close to the way venom made me feel. The rewards were more significant than the consequences. Yes, it made me dumber, but it was only temporary. In exchange, I become godlike! I could punch through steel, run at high speeds, and even resist bullets.

Feeling the thrill of the hunt, I laughed boisterously, for I will get Luthor today, dead or alive.

As my men and I reached the dilapidated warehouse where the object had landed, I saw its rolling steel door open. We could all see the metal tube in the middle of the dark room that had landed with light coming from it. As I got closer, my instincts kicked in, warning me that something was wrong. I looked at my men and commanded the two closest to me, "You and you! Go in now!"

They looked like they were about to argue against me, but I flashed them a predatory smile, and immediately, the fight in them went away out of fear. That is why it is best to be feared rather than loved.

As my two men slowly entered the building, they approached the metal object and said over their headsets, "Boss. It looks like it's a casket or something, but it looks very high-tech. I think it could sell for a good amount."

I ignored what they said and focused on my gut feeling. " Is anything wrong inside?" I questioned, having increased difficulty with my speech.

"Hmmm, nothing seems out of place. I think it will be fine to go inside."

Still feeling that something was wrong, I ordered five more of my men to go inside while I had the rest search the perimeter of the building. As the five mercenaries went inside, the metal casket exploded. The shockwave was so intense that if it were not for the venom, I would have probably been sent back.

I boiled with rage and let out a guttural roar to help release my pent-up anger. As my rage gradually dissipated, that is when a figure came at me fast like a miniature fighter jet. I could hardly react and threw a sloppy jab out of pure instinct at whatever was heading towards me. However, it went under my fist, and I felt two metal-like pincers wrap around my waist. No, it was arms? Before I could fully comprehend what I was facing, it miraculously lifted me even with my current weight and then slammed me to the ground, cracking the earth beneath me. It straddled, and that is when I felt punches repeatedly striking my face.

Rage once again fueled me. I quickly grabbed whatever was on top of me and applied pressure, squeezing as if I had a Coke can in my hand. I lifted whatever I had in my hand up to the sky as I began to get up. That is when something struck my face that I had never felt before. The sensation was as if I got blasted by something more substantial than a high-pressure power hose, but instead of feeling wet and cold, I was beginning to get burned!

I let go of whatever I held and shielded my face with both hands. Whatever was hitting me continued, and I felt myself unconsciously back up! Me, Bane retreat! Never! Rage filled me. How could I who "Broke the Bat" retreat?

"Rrrrrraaahhhh!" I roared! Bane was not going to lose! I charged at what was attacking me while shielding my face and rammed into it with my shoulder, sending whoever it was flying. When I noticed the constant heat-like pressure go away, I looked at the general direction of where I might have sent them. I saw the dust where it landed and got ready to dodge if any more of those blasts were to come at me.

"Come out, bug, and die!" I yelled

"Bug, huh? Please, was it not you and your men who went up to the transporter because it was lit up like flies?" the voice said condescendingly.

Hearing the voice, I was surprised. Before I go after my targets, I constantly research them like any first-rate assassin. So, after studying my target for quite some time, I knew right away that the voice could only mean the person I had been fighting this entire time was Lex Luthor.

My POV:

What a fucking monster. Not only did Bane tank being punched repeatedly in the face with my Iron Man suit on, but he also lifted me in the air with one hand, took two repulsor blasts to the face, and shrugged it off! As I got up, I slowly exited the rubble and approached Bane.

I needed a new game plan since my usual shock-and-awe tactic didn't work this time. I was really betting that all of them would get inside the building, well, at least Bane, and then blow them all up. I could then handle Deadshot easily since he currently did not have anything that could damage me, and his previous attempts at headshotting me had been unsuccessful.

To make sure, I asked S.E.B.A.S., "How much damage did we just sustain just now, and how much energy do we have left?"

"You have taken about 15% damage total and have about 85% of energy left. Sir, I suggest you not use the repulsor beams. In their current state, they are using too much energy and causing little damage. Instead, get in close and use both outboxing and infighting tactics. Due to the use of venom, his size has dramatically increased. You can use that to your advantage. We can also put that energy into your thrusters instead. This way, it would help you outmaneuver him and improve your damage by increasing the velocity of your attacks, sir."

I contemplated his suggestion while slowly studying Bane. Although his assessment was correct, I still hesitated to implement it. Though I have experienced fighting like this in both of my lives, those were in competitions and training. Doing it in a life-and-death scenario against Bane was tricky. I had to ensure I did not get grabbed once because if I did, it was over.

As I thought of how to do this, Bane shouted with his venom-influenced vocabulary, "If you do not come to me! I come to you!". He charged at me with his hands up. Bane's speed did not match how he looked, which surprised me. Thankfully, I could react when he launched a straight punch towards me. I dropped my level, and my suit accelerated me forward. It seemed as if Bane chose for me. Infighting it is. I landed a quick three-hit combo to the body: A left hook, a right uppercut, and then a left uppercut. I then sidestepped and landed a straight and cross to his right ribs, feeling something crack.

"Fuck you, pendejo!" Bane bellowed and tried to backhand me. However, I was already way out of his reach, using my suit again to push me back five feet away. This routine continued for the next three minutes. I would use my suit to propel me close to Bane once he threw an attack. I would then quickly land a few attacks. Once Bane tried to reposition himself, I would back off four to five feet so he could not reach me. Besides my fighting experience, this reminded me of the Dark Souls games where I would throw a few quick attacks and then roll away, and then once the boss threw a big attack, I would start landing a few attacks once again. The biggest thing about both of these things was not to get greedy!

I could see that he was getting worn out by my continuous assault. I could win this! I was actually going to beat a supervillain! However, the moment I was once again going to get out of Bane's reach, something struck me behind my back, and then an explosion occurred that launched me forward. Bane, noticing this opportunity, quickly wrapped me in a bear hug and began to squeeze.

"How annoying you were, Lex, but now this is where you die!" he proudly declared.

"Sir, critical damage sustained; if you do not escape this predicament, the armor will be destroyed within one minute."

"Reroute all energy to the repulsor canon now, S.E.B.A.S, and fire using all the remaining energy!"

"Sir, only the repulsor canons on your gauntlets are operational. The chest piece is still not fully functioning; it is unsure if it can even pull it off.

"Not now, S.E.B.A.S! I'm dead within a minute, so ignore all safety measures and just do it!"

Energy gathered towards my chest, and the arc reactor on it shined brightly.

"What are you doing, Lex!" demanded a Bane, but all I said in return was, "Ima firin mah lazer." Light, heat, and force exploded out of my chest, launching me out of his grasp while simultaneously enveloping Bane. I was launched against a building while my repulsor canon continued firing.

"Turn it off, S.E.B.A.S!"

"I can not. The firing system on your chest was not finished, and all the safety measures were disabled. I am currently unable to stop firing until all the energy is completely spent, sir."

Great. I had a runaway laser on my hands. A whole 15 seconds passed until my suit ran out of energy and stopped firing. Once it died, the suit dropped to the ground. I struggled to escape my armor since it could no longer automatically let me out. However, once it did, I inspected the damage I caused.

The scene in front of me was complete destruction. When I got launched, my aim was nonexistent, so my laser fired wildly. Buildings, cars, and roads were destroyed. That is when I spotted Bane. I approached him and saw that his top half from the stomach up had suffered major third-degree burns and that he was missing his left arm. He was not bleeding out, though, for it seemed like my repulsor blast had also cauterized his injury.

With this, it was evident. I had defeated Bane, the man that had broken the bat.
