Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Overpower Background

Nexus Galaxy – Planet Nexus – Xiao's Villa

Xiao sat alone in the spacious living room of his luxurious villa, a crystal glass of wine in his hand. The night sky outside stretched endlessly, stars glittering like diamonds scattered across a canvas of eternal black. Though the scene was peaceful, his heart wasn't. A faint frown tugged at his lips.

'My background is ridiculous,' he thought, leaning back into the soft couch as his gaze fixed on the stars.

He wasn't just some lucky transmigrator. No—he was Xiao, the Cardinal Prince of the Cardinal Royal Family—the absolute apex of humanity's power, wealth, and influence.

His grandfather, the Cardinal Emperor, wasn't just a ruler—he was the first awakened, a godlike figure who had unified humanity and forged the Cosmic Human Civilization with an iron will and divine strength. He was a myth walking among mortals, an entity whose power defied comprehension. In an era where cultivation and cosmic technology intertwined, he stood untouchable, peerless across the stars.

Xiao's identity carried weight beyond measure. The royal blood in his veins was the legacy of the Emperor himself. And that legacy came with unimaginable expectations—and unimaginable danger.

The Cardinal Royal Family had only five members, each one a terrifying existence in their own right:

The Cardinal Emperor, supreme patriarch and the first awakened

The three Cardinal Princesses, unmatched in beauty, intelligence, and cultivation

And Xiao himself—the youngest, but the one rumored to have the greatest potential

He exhaled slowly, his voice soft.

"I'm the youngest… but I must be careful not to be outmaneuvered."

The Imperial Navy, the military colossus of human civilization, answered to his family alone. No force dared defy them. Their rule was law, their words sacred. But Xiao knew power like theirs always attracted shadows. Hidden ambition, betrayal, manipulation—they were inevitable.

And his sisters?

Each of them was beautiful, intelligent, and terrifying. They loved him. That much was certain. But their love ran dangerously deep—obsession, possessiveness, madness. Beneath their smiles, he saw the madness in their eyes. And strangely… he didn't dislike it.

In a world where affection was rare and motives always masked, their twisted obsession felt real. Raw. Honest. Comforting, even. He didn't fully understand why—but he didn't care. He accepted them as they were, madness and all.

Yet none of that compared to the one thing that unsettled him most: the Void Record.

That mysterious artifact…

It was the reason he was here in this world.

Its origins were unknown. Its power, sealed. Its presence, dangerous.

'This thing… it could be a blessing or a curse.'

The Void Record granted him one known ability—Status Profile—but its full potential remained locked. From what he understood, it would awaken more as his cultivation progressed. But what if it wasn't just a tool?

What if it was a trap?

'What if this artifact is part of some ancient bastard's revival plan?' Xiao thought darkly.

He could already imagine it: breaking seals, gaining power… only to realize he was feeding some hidden soul waiting to possess him.

'I have to keep my guard up. I can't trust it blindly.'

Still, that concern was for later. For now, one thing mattered above all—

The Awakening Ceremony.

It was happening tomorrow.

A sacred ritual. A direct communion with the Heaven's Will—the consciousness of the universe itself. From this ritual, one's Talent would be revealed—be it a passive gift, an active power, or both.

Some awakened monstrous abilities. Some awakened trash. Some awakened nothing at all.

Everything depended on fate.

Everything depended on the Heaven's Will.

His thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock.

Knock knock.

"Come in," Xiao said calmly, setting the glass aside.

The door opened quietly, and Elizabeth stepped in—one of his sisters. Her black hair flowed like silk, and her golden eyes gleamed with an unnatural light. She moved with quiet grace, every step echoing confidence and control.

"Still awake?" she asked gently, though her eyes were already scanning him with sharp intensity.

Xiao nodded. "I couldn't sleep. Too much on my mind."

"The ceremony tomorrow," she said, stepping closer, her eyes never leaving his. "It'll change everything."

He met her gaze and gave a faint smile. "I know."

She paused, then leaned down slightly, her hand brushing his cheek. "No matter what happens… we'll protect you. I'll protect you."

There was a pause. A soft silence.

That obsession again. It always lingered behind her words. But he didn't mind.

"Thanks," Xiao replied. "I know I can count on you."

With a soft smile, Elizabeth turned and walked away, her silhouette vanishing behind the door.

Alone again, Xiao leaned back in his chair, gazing once more at the stars.

Tomorrow… everything would begin.

The Void Record. His Talent. The eyes of the universe.

He wasn't just a transmigrator.

He was the heir of the most powerful bloodline in existence.

And whatever fate had in store for him—

He would not be underestimated.
