I got a call from my mother later in the evening after school.
"Hi mother". I grumbled as I picked the call.
"So you moved out of the dorm? To live with Willem?" She scoffed. I rolled my eyes, happy she couldn't see me.
"You want us to get married right? We might as well get on with it. I'm sure you already got a call from King Darion about our decision".
"Don't get too cocky now, Soraya. I hope you made your decision in a right state of mind".
I let out a dry laugh, " Funny mother, I didn't get the impression that you cared at all if I got married of my own volition or not. I'm sorry but I have to go now. I'm still a student ".
I didn't feel bad as I cut the call and tucked my phone into my bag.
What was wrong with her these days? My heart tightened in my chest. The hatred I felt these days was suffocating.
I squinted as I spotted Willem standing at the park. What was he doing here?
He spotted me too and waved at me, gesturing for me to come.
I walked over to him. "What are you doing on this campus?".
He smiled. "I figured you would need a ride. Unless you have somewhere to be?".
It's funny how I liked this. Him coming to pick me up and we going home together.
"I don't mind, actually. Thank you." I said and opened the door to the front seat.
"Do you want to get something to eat first?" I asked as he dropped into his seat next to mine?".
He glanced at me then reached over to my seatbelt and put it over me. My breath hitched.
Him being so close made me so self conscious.
I held my breath till he buckled the belt.
"Yeah, let's do that" he said and started the car.
The car ride to Gander's was quiet. The only sound was in the car was the sound of the radio.
"I'll save a booth for us". I said when he pulled over in front of the diner. He had to park the car first.
When I entered, I ordered a drink for the both of us and took it to the booth waiting for Willem to come so we could both order our meal. Just then,I felt a shadow above me and looked up.
"Henry?" This was not the right time for him to show up. Not when Willem could walk in at any time.
He smirked. "Well,well".
I glanced towards the door." Are you stalking me now?".
He sat down in front of me and reached for the drink. I grabbed it off the table and shot him a disgusted look.
So ill-mannered!
He raised his hands up in surrender mockingly.
"Are you on a date?".
"What the hell are you doing here, Henry?" My voice, controlled. I didn't want to get attention.
"You've being ignoring my messages. Why?" He gave a thin smile. The type that made him look crazy.
"I'm sure you don't have amnesia because we broke up, remember?" I ground. This guy was pissing me off.
"It's just been what? Three weeks? And now you're getting married? How am I supposed to feel?".
I rolled my eyes. It's hasn't been three weeks.
"Get over yourself, Henry. I'm getting married to another man since we broke up. I'm pretty sure that's a sane thing to do".
He reached to touch my hand but stopped after seeing the look on my face.
"Henry, can you get up and leave?" I asked, trying so hard to level my voice.
Just then, I spotted Willem entering the diner. His eyes found me and he began walking towards me but his steps faltered when he saw Henry. He probably recognized him from my pinstagram.
His eyes hardened as he walked towards us. Oh no!
Henry looked up and smiled.
The fool actually smiled at him.
Willem stared down at him. "Get up!".
Henry's smile faltered and he glanced at me but I gestured for him to leave.
He stood up and Willem took a seat the table.
"You must be Willem then?". Henry scowled.
"I am Willem. Whoever you are, it's best you left". His voice was cold.
"Henry, please leave". I said, trying to make him see reason but he was too strong headed to see that.
"You can't force me away"
Flash!
Willem took a picture.
"What are you doing? How can you just take my picture?". Henry protested.
"Your picture? Oh, I just thought the King of Darkey who also happens to be my father, would like to know the threat to his son's life, wouldn't he?" He arched a brow, questioningly.
Henry flushed.
Then turned to leave.
After he left, I let out a breath.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know he would come here".
"The only thing you should be sorry for is the asshole you dated. Are losers your type, princess?" I could hear the smile in his voice.
When our eyes met, I rolled my eyes.
"Of course, it's you" I scoffed.
"Are you disappointed it's me?". He smirked.
"Kinda. It's hard to find your personality appealing".
"If by unappealing, do you mean, not boring?". He took a sip from the drink and winced.
"If you didn't notice, you're rude and inconsiderate of people's feelings".
He nodded and shrugged. " I guess I can be quite unbearable. Too bad I'm here".
"Whatever. Thank you, though. For dealing with Henry ".
He looked up at me. "Trust me. If it was up to me, I would've punched his lights out. But Willem would rather die than let me use violence".
Really?
Willem doesn't let him use violence?
"How?"
"You're asking how he controls me?".
I shook my head. "I'm just trying to understand you two".
He stared at me, his eyes bored holes into mine.
"Willem and I are like two sides of a coin".
Well, they were two sides of a coin.
"It's like whenever Willem's in distress, I show up. If I do something he doesn't like, he forces his way back out.".
Oh!
"So you didn't hit Henry because of-" I trailed off, realizing what this meant.
"For you, princess ".
No!
