"What the heck?" This was Ye Wen's first thought.
He had only intended to invite Xue'er (Snow Empress) to become his companion, like a teacher or subordinate in the academy—no need for such formality.
Could it be that Xue'er's chuunibyou had flared up?
But once the offering began, there was no stopping it. Looking at the fifth soul ring on the Time Pearl, adorned with six golden stripes, Ye Wen scratched his head in frustration.
The soul of Xue'er clearly rested within his right arm bone, just like the Deep Sea Demon Whale King.
Due to the unique nature of the Ice Sky Snow Maiden spirit beast, Xue'er hadn't left behind an infant form.
Ye Wen clicked his tongue in disappointment. He had been quite fond of the idea of raising a little loli.
Still, he could now truly begin the inheritance of the Sea God's divine position.
"When I refine this into divine armor, I'll have to tell Poseidon not to harm the souls inside. These are my future subordinates. If he forcefully wipes them out like in the original story, that would be bad."
As if talking to himself, Ye Wen transformed into a streak of light and returned to Sea God Island.
Those Ye Wen had brought to participate in the trials were undoubtedly elites. The Sea God's trials weren't excessively brutal, designed specifically to kill people. At this point, everyone's progress was promising, with most having reached the third or fourth trial.
Back in the Sea God Palace, Ye Wen's eyes flickered with admiration as he looked at Bo Saixi, clad in the resplendent blue ceremonial robes of the High Priestess.
If one didn't know she was over a hundred years old, they might mistake her for a queen.
Bo Saixi gazed at Ye Wen with a complex expression.
"You've returned. Are you ready to begin the inheritance?"
"Mm. Let me record your physical condition first. After you offer yourself to open the inheritance realm, I'll resurrect you," Ye Wen said softly.
No intelligent, emotional being was unafraid of death, even when it was a fate they already knew awaited them.
"If you're not in a hurry, could you fulfill a wish of mine?" Bo Saixi suddenly asked gently.
Though Ye Wen didn't understand why Bo Saixi would suddenly say this, as someone who had received nine years of compulsory education, respecting the elderly and caring for the young was a basic virtue. He replied warmly,
"Senior Bo Saixi, feel free to speak. After all, opening the inheritance realm still requires your help. To be honest, if you selflessly sacrificed yourself for me, I'd feel guilty. Since you have a wish, fulfilling it is no problem. Consider it settled."
Truly noble and magnanimous, his heart as vast as the sea—it was no wonder he had been chosen by the Sea God. Bo Saixi sighed inwardly.
"Then, would you mind sharing dinner with me? Ever since becoming the High Priestess, I've always eaten alone. I'd like to experience what it's like to have someone join me."
It wasn't a bizarre request per se, but thinking about how she had spent a century alone on Sea God Island, Ye Wen understood.
Respecting the elderly and caring for the young—it wasn't a big deal to accompany an elder for dinner. Ye Wen happily agreed.
Since Sea God Island was located deep in the ocean, trade with the Douluo Continent was difficult. Vegetables were self-sufficient, but meat mainly came from marine fish.
The dinner was quite Western-style, consisting of a few sausages, a piece of fried fish fillet, and roasted vegetables. However, to Ye Wen's surprise, the sausage was made of fish meat—a rare delicacy.
The two sat on the balcony of the Sea God Palace, enjoying the gentle evening breeze and watching the sunset. It was a uniquely charming scene.
"Future Lord Sea God, would you care to share a drink with me?"
Bo Saixi suddenly picked up the bottle of red wine and offered it to Ye Wen.
Alcohol was something Ye Wen really didn't want to touch, primarily because he couldn't stand the smell. Many people in his previous life enjoyed drinking, but Ye Wen couldn't understand why—they could spend that money on juice or milk tea instead.
However, since Bo Saixi was an elder, he reluctantly accepted a small glass, forcing himself to endure it.
Gently clinking glasses with Bo Saixi, Ye Wen downed the drink in one gulp. As expected, it tasted terrible -_-||
The meal was brief, as there wasn't much food. Afterwards, Ye Wen and Bo Saixi chatted about everyday matters. Bo Saixi's gaze grew increasingly soft as she looked at him.
Gentle, humble, powerful, inclusive, decisive, principled.
Ye Wen's image gradually replaced the once-arrogant figure in Bo Saixi's mind.
But as they talked, Ye Wen suddenly realized something was wrong. His tongue began to stiffen, and even his body felt uncontrollable.
"Huh? Just one glass of wine? Is the aftereffect really this strong? Am I that weak? I'm practically a god!"
Ye Wen's vision began to blur, and he collapsed limply into his chair.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Bo Saixi quickly approach, pulling him into her arms and pressing him tightly against her.
'So soft… Wait, what?! What's happening to me? Why am I losing control of my thoughts?'
"Forgive this selfish old woman. Even if you don't resurrect me afterward, it's fine. I've lived for a hundred years—I want to live for myself just once."
Bo Saixi carried Ye Wen back to her bedroom, where the soft bed was filled with her fragrance. Ye Wen finally realized what was going on.
'Damn it!'
'You, a senior, have no martial ethics! You drugged me! What kind of drug is this? How did I not notice anything? It's too potent!'
Never did he expect that someone who had played with drugs for so long would end up falling victim themselves. Truly, a lifetime of hunting geese only to be pecked blind by one.
Wait, that's not the point! Bo Saixi, you're lusting after my body!
Though it was her first time, Bo Saixi's technique was surprisingly rough. She pinned Ye Wen to the bed and ruthlessly ravaged him.
After ten minutes, Ye Wen regained control of his body.
Glaring at the once dignified and noble High Priestess, Ye Wen launched a counterattack, utterly dominating Bo Saixi, leaving her completely defeated.
Don't underestimate the endurance and skill honed by years of being tormented by Ah Yin.
Both were beings who had stepped into the realm of gods, their physical strength naturally unmatched. The slight pain quickly faded, and the battle raged on until late into the night.
Looking at the beauty in his arms, untouched by the passage of time, Ye Wen murmured,
"I'm sorry, Tang Chen, Tang Hao, Tang San.
Your future wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother—she's mine now."
Suddenly, a slightly timid voice came from his arms.
"I'm sorry."
"Sigh…" Ye Wen looked at Bo Saixi with pity.
"I'll take responsibility. Though it wasn't my initiative, I do have some feelings for you. I just never imagined it would escalate to this point.
But since you've broken through this barrier, from now on, you're my family, my wife. Tomorrow, I'll introduce you to the others.
Ah Yin is a reasonable person; she won't reject you. Trust me," Ye Wen said sincerely.
