Chapter 14 - The Demonic Dragon(2)

"What about you? Aren't you going to introduce yourself?" Liris asked, her tone laced with mild irritation.

I blinked, realizing I had been so caught up in my thoughts that I hadn't even given her my name.

"Ah, yes… Me? I'm Damian Falkenrath, a spy agent for the New Order, as you know. But in the human world, I took over a body Of a Student Name Victor Von Hendrick."

Her abyssal black eyes narrowed slightly, scanning me as if trying to peel away my very existence. Then she spoke.

"Earlier, when I pulled you from the stream, your demonic energy surged into an Overlord state for a brief moment. But your core... It contains light energy. Did a knight strike you with a holy sword?"

My eyes widened slightly.

"Wait… how do you know there's light energy in my core?"

She merely smirked and raised two fingers, pointing at her eyes.

"These are the answer to your question. "

"For someone who claims to be a high-ranking member of a secret organization, sent on such an important mission, you seem rather oblivious."

I clenched my jaw but stayed silent.

She sighed, shaking her head in disappointment.

"Most demons would already know the answer. It's no secret that every Redgrave bloodline member possesses these eyes even the lesser ones."

'Damn… I didn't know that. There was no mention of 'Dragon Eyes' when Lexser party fought against the Redgrave family in the game. Even their status screens never listed such a blessing…'

That only meant one thing this ability was even more powerful than I had thought.

But before I could dwell on the implications, her voice cut through my thoughts. "That aside, answer my question. Stop dodging it with useless distractions."

I took a moment to compose myself before responding.

"I fought a mage in Idok, killed him, and then got ambushed by a rogue demon faction. I was thrown into the stream and left for dead." I said, feigning sadness.

She hummed in acknowledgment.

"That makes sense. Considering I found you in Idok's water system, the timing lines up."

I frowned slightly.

"Why do you even care?"

Most high-ranking demons were arrogant, viewing lower-ranking ones as nothing more than disposable pawns.

This kind of concern didn't match the noble demons I had encountered in my playthrough.

Liris scoffed, flipping her dark hair over her shoulder.

"Normally, I wouldn't waste a single thought on an impure, low born demon like you."

"But when I pulled you from the water, your demonic energy… It was laced with a power so intense, for a moment, I thought I was going to die."

I kept my face neutral, but inside, my mind was racing.

'I must've activated The demon aura while unconscious… but How Do I do it Again?'

She stepped closer, looking me dead in the eyes.

"We have the same destination Lumina Academy of Hero Arts, Since we're going to be in the same place, why not establish a mutually beneficial relationship?"

The moment she mentioned the Academy, a chill ran down my spine, I stared Sweating.

'No. No, no, no, WHY? WHY am I getting the hard route?!'

'GOD WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME???'

If I could see my luck stat right now, it would probably be negative.

I took a deep breath, forcing my mind to calm.

'Okay, Think, She thinks I'm powerful. I don't know why, but I can use this as leverage.'

Liris tilted her head slightly, watching me with amusement.

"What are you thinking so hard about? This relationship would benefit us both, wouldn't it?"

I met her gaze, keeping my expression unreadable.

"How exactly would this benefit me? And what kind of relationship are we talking about? What are the terms For me?"

Her lips curled into a smirk.

"Isn't it obvious? You'd have the support of a direct bloodline member of the Redgrave family, In return, we help each other both inside and outside the Academy."

Then, without warning, she leaned in close enough that I could see the golden flecks hidden in the darkness of her eyes.

"And to make things more interesting… how about you be my boyfriend?"

My brain short-circuited.

"Hah! You actually thought I was serious?" She burst into laughter, her wings twitching slightly in amusement.

'Wait… WHAT?! BOYFRIEND?!'

I repeated the word over and over in my head, trying to process the sheer absurdity of the situation.

'Calm down, Victor. There's no way someone like her would seriously ask me to be her boyfriend after knowing me for less than an hour. Even if it's fake, it's just… illogical.'

I narrowed my eyes. "That explanation is vague. Don't you think?"

Liris crossed her arms. "Fine. I help you to the best of my ability without risking my life. You do the same for me. Do you agree?"

I didn't answer immediately. Instead, I took a moment to analyze the offer.

"Normally, I wouldn't even consider a lowly demon like you for something like this," she continued, smirking.

"But this is a special case. I need your help to achieve my goal, And let's be honest wouldn't having a Redgrave by your side give you a lot of influence?"

I exhaled sharply.

"So, this is basically a contract where we use each other?"

"Exactly."

I thought about it. In truth, I had no choice, I needed allies, and she was offering me a powerful one at That.

"...Fine, Deal."

Her smile widened.

"I'm glad you made the right choice, darling."

For a brief moment, as the dim light of the underground water system reflected off her eyes, she looked otherworldly a fallen goddess, a demon of unfathomable beauty.

And that's when I realized I had just stepped onto a dangerous path For Myself.
