Chapter 7 - New Family

It was one man and his two daughters—both still children.

Kai and Rose looked at them, noticing how ragged and exhausted they were. The man, who seemed to have been attacked by an animal, was struggling to carry his two daughters.

"We should help them, brother. That man looks seriously injured," Rose said, her voice filled with concern.

Kai set Rose down, but the man's vision was already blurring, and his body began to sway. Before he could collapse, Kai rushed over and caught him, preventing him from falling to the ground.

"You can rest now..." Kai said gently as the man fainted.

The two daughters, still children, were confused and scared. They clung to each other, their eyes wide with fear as they looked at their unconscious father.

Rose, seeing the two sisters in such a state, approached them slowly. The girls stepped back, afraid of the strangers.

Rose stopped in her tracks, not wanting to scare them further.

"Don't worry, I'm not a bad person. We'll save your father. Don't be afraid," she said softly.

But the two girls didn't seem to understand her language. They just hugged each other tightly, their eyes filled with fear.

"Shittt, they're just too cute. I wanna hug them," Rose thought to herself.

She tried to think of a way to comfort them. Suddenly, an idea came to her. She ran to the apple tree, picked two apples, and hurried back to the girls.

Rose took a bite of one apple, showing them how delicious it was with an exaggerated expression of enjoyment.

"Mmm, so good!" she said, holding out the apples to them.

The two girls, still hesitant, slowly reached out and took the apples. They took small bites, their faces lighting up as they tasted the sweet fruit.

Rose smiled, relieved that she had managed to ease their fear, even if just a little.

"See? We're friends now," she said softly, hoping they would understand her kindness even if they couldn't understand her words.

Rose held their hands and led them under the tree.

Meanwhile, Kai carried their father and carefully laid him down on the ground. The man's entire front was covered in wounds, likely from claw marks.

Kai performed a quick assessment, checking his pulse and breathing to ensure they were normal.

He noticed that the bleeding had mostly dried up, but he couldn't understand how the man had managed to survive while walking in such a condition.

"I'll get some water and clean his wounds," Kai said.

He grabbed the bowl from the garden area and filled it with clean water from the river. He then removed his shirt and gently washed the shirt with the river water to clean off any dirt .

Then, he poured more water over the man's body to rinse away the remaining dirt stuck to the wounds.

After cleaning, he covered the wounds with a his cloth to prevent infection. "It'll take time to heal, especially since we don't have honey (antibacterial) or betel leaves (natural antiseptic) to help the wounds heal faster. But for now, this should be okay. Let him rest first."

Rose and the two children watched intently as Kai cleaned the wounds. As usual, Rose started clapping her hands in admiration.

The two kids, who didn't understand what was happening, saw Rose clapping and joined in, mimicking her actions.

Kai and Rose, seeing the kids copying Rose's gestures, couldn't help but laugh.

"It's like we've got our own little fan club," Kai said, chuckling.

Rose grinned. "They're just too cute. I think they're starting to trust us."

The two girls, seeing Kai and Rose laugh, smiled shyly, their fear slowly fading away.

Rose went to take care of the two children. "They look tired. I'll take care of their father for tonight," Kai said.

Rose understood what her brother meant and took the two girls to wash their faces and feet at the river.

The children followed Rose obediently.

She scooped water with her hands and showed them how to wash their faces and feet before sleeping to avoid nightmares.

The two little ones, with their small hands, scooped water and wiped their faces.

"Muooahh... grr," they made cute reactions to the cold water.

Rose smiled at their adorable behavior.

After washing their hands and feet, Rose invited them to lie down with her.

They lay down beside Rose, each holding one of her thumbs with their tiny hands. Before long, they fell asleep.

Meanwhile, Kai continued to watch over the girls' father, making sure there was no further bleeding since his wounds hadn't fully healed.

He kept a close eye on the man, ensuring nothing bad happened.

By midnight, the man woke up coughing. Kai, who had been dozing off while sitting, quickly woke up upon hearing the sound.

The cloth covering the wounds had started to show signs of blood. Kai carefully removed the bandage and went to the river to wash it. He then cleaned the wounds again with fresh water.

The man winced in pain during the cleaning process.

"Sorry, it's a bit painful. Just hold on, and I'll rebandage your wounds," Kai said gently.

After finishing, the man began to calm down. Without any painkillers, he tried to endure the stinging sensation from the water.

Kai rebandaged the wounds carefully, making sure they were clean and secure.

"Rest now. You're safe here," Kai reassured him.

The man nodded weakly, gratitude in his eyes, before drifting back to sleep.

"Did he just understand my language? How could he nod like he knew what I was saying? Something's off here," Kai thought to himself, puzzled.

He sat back, keeping watch over the man and the sleeping children.

Before long, Kai also fell asleep. Finally, everyone was sleeping soundly.

In the quiet and beautiful night, the World Tree began to glow, releasing small orbs of light.

The orbs floated gently and entered the bodies of the sleeping group. The man, who had been sleeping in pain, began to rest peacefully. His open wounds started to close, leaving only faint scars behind.

A figure of a woman appeared, walking among them. She looked at Rose, who was sleeping soundly, and then walked over to Kai.

She touched his face, her expression filled with happiness.

"It's been a long time, my husband. I'm so happy to see you're still alive, even in another world. Your grave is still here...

We will meet again soon. I'm sorry for bringing you back to this world," she whispered softly before fading away.

The night remained still, the World Tree's glow dimming as the orbs disappeared. The group continued to sleep peacefully .
