Chapter 41 - Not Getting Divorced Anymore

The umbrella completely blocked Ava's view.

She couldn't see the road ahead, only felt the ribs of the umbrella tilt entirely toward her side. Liam's coat was already soaked through by the rain.

She lifted her hand and gently pushed the umbrella handle, trying to tilt it toward him.

Liam instinctively glanced in the direction of the broken bridge.

Ethan was gone—vanished like a ghost, leaving only a fleeting shadow before disappearing without a trace.

Liam silently let out a sigh of relief and gently pulled Ava into his arms.

Only then did he realize—he was actually afraid. Afraid of losing her.

It was a feeling he had never experienced before, even he didn't see it coming.

By the time they returned to her grandfather's house, it was already noon.

They hastily ate a silent lunch.

Ava was so exhausted she could barely stand. She entered the bedroom, undressed, and collapsed onto the bed. Ever since the funeral arrangements began, she hadn't had a good night's sleep.
