Crassus ended the long call with Caspian and Elliott, rubbing his temple as silence settled over his study, but as the line disconnected, his thoughts drifted toward one person—Estella.
He glanced at the clock. The night was deep, still, the desire to see her tugged at him like a persistent ache. He considered it. Sneaking into her room, just to hold her. Maybe he could lie beside her for a while, listen to her breathing, and pretend everything was fine.
But he stopped himself.
Estella was furious with him.If she caught him beside her in bed come morning, he might just make everything worse. And the last thing he wanted was to push her further away.
So, the man who had just gotten married today—the Alpha of the Northern Pack, proud and strong—dragged himself to his room alone. He stared at the empty bed, feeling every inch of it. Sleep did not come easy.

The next morning, before the first rays of sunlight could brush the treetops, Estella was already up.
