Estella and Crassus barely waited for the car to come to a complete stop before they stepped out. The towering doors of the grand hall loomed ahead, casting shadows over the stone steps that led to the entrance. Without a word, they began walking side by side, the tension in the air thick as mist. The soft thud of their boots echoed between the tall stone walls flanking the hall's entryway.
Before they even neared the doors, Crassus's sharp hearing caught the unmistakable voice of Alpha Ajax ringing out through the partially open windows.
"What is this nonsense with Crassus calling all of us here for a packs' meeting and then having the nerve to show up late to a meeting held in his own pack? Is he doing this on purpose? Acting arrogant in front of the rest of us?"
Estella glanced at Crassus immediately, her brows furrowed in concern. She didn't need to say anything. Her expression was clear enough—they're already angry.
