On the other side, in Liora's villa, everything was peaceful.
Most of them had found a good spot to lie down. Their eyes could barely stay open after the endless wave of battles they had just survived. Mei had already fallen asleep not long after she finished healing everyone's injuries. Her breathing was calm, her face pale but peaceful.
Everyone else was curled up in their own corner, quiet and drained.
Even Liora managed to find herself a slightly dusty couch near the corner of the room. It wasn't comfortable, but it was dry and quiet, and that was enough.
Outside, the rain carried on. A slow, rhythmic sound that hit the windows and the broken tiles above them like a lullaby. It felt like the world was mourning with them, weeping endlessly for all that had been lost, albeit reality was far from it.
They had sealed the doors well. Nothing would come through.
