Chapter 1 - Rebirth Before the Apocalypse

"Ah!"

A sharp pain shot through her wrist, and Annan collapsed to the ground in an instant.

At that moment, her two most trusted friends had ruthlessly severed both of her hands.

The jade bracelet on her wrist fell heavily to the ground, yet remained unscathed.

Wei Wenbin, as though it were a priceless treasure, eagerly picked up the bracelet, a greedy smile spreading across his face.

"Nan Nan, since you still refuse to be my woman, you can no longer live."

The woman beside him clung to his arm. "Cousin, she brought this upon herself. She deserves to die!"

"If we had known her father was so heartless, refusing even a loaf of bread, we should have acted sooner. We wouldn't have had to starve for so long."

Annan lay on the ground, staring at them in disbelief.

— These were the two people who had fought alongside her in the apocalypse, struggling to survive.

"What are you looking at?" Qian Ying'er released her hold on Wei Wenbin and stalked toward Annan, a bone knife in hand, her voice dripping with venom.

"From the first moment I saw you, I wanted to ruin that pretty face of yours!"

With that, she struck.

Annan, weakened by blood loss, could no longer resist. All she felt was her life slipping away in excruciating pain...

As her consciousness faded, she heard Qian Ying'er's sweet voice.

"Brother, we'll have meat tonight!"

In that moment, Annan was filled with regret.

How had she been so foolish, unable to see the true nature of these two wolves in sheep's clothing?

After surviving for four long years in the apocalypse, she had met her end at the hands of those she called friends!

How unjust...

If only she had another chance, she would not spare them!

...

"Ah!"

Another scream, and Annan jolted awake, sitting up on her bed.

Looking around in shock, she was stunned by the scene before her.

This... this was the house she had lived in before the apocalypse!

Hadn't she been killed by the Wei siblings? How was she back here?

The temperature around her was warm and comfortable.

It had been four long years since the disaster struck, and she hadn't felt such comfort in all that time.

In disbelief, she grabbed her phone. July 8, 2039.

Wasn't this just three days before the apocalypse?!

What was happening? Hadn't she died in 2043?

On July 11, 2039, a devastating rainstorm would sweep the globe.

In a few days, the city would become a vast ocean, and countless lives would be lost.

At first, people thought it was just a flood, but it was only the prologue to the end of the world.

Heavy rain, floods, extreme heat, acid rain, thick fog, earthquakes, and intense cold... one after another, these catastrophic events would turn the world into a living hell.

For four long years, she had struggled to survive, and even at the moment of her death, the disasters had not ceased.

Had she... been reborn? Reborn three days before the apocalypse?!

A surge of joy coursed through Annan, and she quickly looked down at the jade bracelet on her wrist.

— If it hadn't been for this bracelet, she might not have survived the first year of the apocalypse.

She bit her finger, letting her blood drip onto the jade.

In the next instant, a flash of white light appeared, and Annan's mind was filled with a vision of a space roughly 800 square feet in size.

One side was an expanse of white emptiness, while the other side was a small house of about 60 square meters.

Annan breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, the space had been reborn with her.

In her previous life, she had been injured and bled after a robbery by a neighbor, inadvertently unlocking the space with the blood that dripped onto the bracelet.

Anything she touched could be stored within this space.

The small house within the space had water, electricity, and gas. In emergencies, she could hide there, but only for one hour a day—exceeding that limit would eject her from the space.

The rest of the space was inaccessible to living creatures; she could only store objects there with her mind.

This part of the space was frozen in time, preserving the food she stored.

In her previous life, whenever danger loomed, she and the Wei siblings would hide in the small house within the space, allowing her to survive the apocalypse for four years.

This space had been a godsend for survival.

Unfortunately, by the time she unlocked it, the apocalypse had already begun.

Not only did she have little in terms of supplies, but almost everyone else had already run out of food and resources, leaving little to store.

She had no choice but to search for resources with the Wei siblings, storing everything she could in the space to avoid the greed of others, allowing them to survive.

Qian Ying'er had been her university classmate, and after graduation, they happened to live in the same neighborhood.

Wei Wenbin, her cousin, had pursued Annan relentlessly after meeting her, despite her clear rejections.

After the disaster, the three of them, familiar with each other and living in the same neighborhood, naturally banded together for survival.

Slowly, Annan had come to view them as comrades.

Who would have thought that they were only interested in her because they had heard of her family's wealth and wanted to exploit her to obtain survival resources from her father?

But her father, An Xingye, was not the loving father he appeared to be; he was a ruthless man with no compassion.

When Annan's mother passed away suddenly from heart disease during her senior year of college, her father inherited her mother's billions and their company, and his true nature emerged.

Not only did he bring a woman home, but they also had an illegitimate daughter around Annan's age.

Her grandmother, who had been bedridden with grief over the loss of her daughter, died of shock upon hearing the news.

Her father then severed ties with Annan, casting her out of their mountain villa.

Thankfully, before her mother passed, she had bought Annan a small apartment in the Fenglin Yijing complex, providing her with a place to stay.

Yet, as she was still reeling from her family's sudden collapse, the apocalypse struck.

Her father's villa was situated in a high area, and during the initial rains, the wealthy residents had airlifted supplies, enabling them to fare reasonably well during the end of the world.

After struggling for so long with dwindling resources, Annan and the Wei siblings fought their way to her father's villa, seeking help.

But her father, as always, showed no mercy, hoarding his food with his new wife and daughter, refusing to give Annan even a piece of bread.

He didn't care whether she lived or died.

Seeing that she had no further value to them, Wei Wenbin and Qian Ying'er revealed their true selves, attempting to seize the space within her bracelet.

They even went as far as to dismantle her...

Little did they know, once the bracelet was bound to her with blood, it was irrevocably hers. Even if they took the bracelet, they would never obtain her space.

This time, she would watch as they struggled without her space.

Annan felt a surge of hatred.

Though she longed to exact her revenge immediately, there were more pressing matters—she needed to gather survival supplies.

The disaster would arrive in three days, and there was much to prepare.

As for the Wei siblings, she would let them suffer in the coming apocalypse.

That would be far more entertaining than simply killing them!

And her father?

In her past life, she had died tragically at his hands, with no further debt of life.

Annan's heart turned cold. This time, she would not warn him about the coming apocalypse.

Let him cling to his villa resources and see if they could survive it.

This time, she would focus on herself, cherishing the opportunity to start anew, and live freely in the end of the world!

Annan opened her phone to check her bank balance.

Exactly one million.

Thankfully, her father had not seized all her pocket money when he cast her out.

In her past life, this money had become meaningless data and useless paper in the face of the apocalypse.

This time, she would turn it all into resources and make the most of it!
