YEARS LATER
" Kevin, I have good news for you "
Maxwell said happily. He had his usual smile on his face which had seemed to aged a bit over the years. He sat on his luxurious chair and across him was a young man. The young man had a very handsome face with mixed features. It was somehow difficult to determine if he was a male or a female. He had a face that made both male and female drool over him. People had to give him more than 10 glances whenever they saw him whether it was the first time or not. Even in his youthful age, he was an epitome of beauty. He explained the meaning of God's work and his lazy expression made him more handsome.
Kevin rolled his eyes upon hearing Maxwell word's. What ' good news ' does he have today. He knew that Maxwell's good news were only good for himself. He said lazily
" Mmh, what is it Spirit"
Maxwell furrowed his brows in displeasure and rather said
" After several years, you still haven't cultivated the habit of calling me dad. Let me repeat it to you, you have to call me dad whether we are in the house or outside. "
But even after hearing this Kevin wasn't fazed at all and instead said with a questioning brow
" Spirit did you cal mel hear to lecture me on this or you have something else to tell me "
Upon hearing this, Maxwell became annoyed and said
" it is either you call me dad or you are not going to hear any news "
Maxwell said thinking this could make Kevin yeild but to his uttermost surprise, Kevin only pretended to yawn and said lazily
" Mmh, ok since you are not willing to talk about it I will take my leave. I'm already tired and needs some rest. Besides I can hear the news sooner or later, even if its not from you"
Then he stood up and was about to go. Maxwell was do infuriated. Sometimes, he thought he had made a mistake by adopting him. Since Kevin became more matured, he was consistently getting out of control. It was sometimes really difficult to control him. Maxwell had been having his blood rising always when it came to Kevin. Moreover, Kevin wasn't following his plot for him. From his arrangement, Kevin should have been more obedient and submissive all the time but the Kevin infront of him did exactly the opposite. But that didn't meant he was completely out of control. He would soon find a way to cut his wings down. But now he needed to tell him this. Swallowing his pride, he said
"Listen to the news before you go "
Kevin turned and smirked at him. He went and sat down and said devilishly
" what's with the fuss of me calling you dad. Do you really like it when I call you dad? You should have said so earlier and I would have politely called you dad. Ok so.... dad, what do want to tell me "
Maxwell sneered inwardly at Kevin's words. He knew clearly that Kevin was trying to rely a message to him through his actions. He wanted to say " I hate been controlled " . But how could he accepts that. He on the other hand loved the thought of been in control.
He gritted his teeth and said
" we are having some new international partnership, but they don't really trust us and need some of our men. They need them to explain more about our dealings to them "
Clearly knowing what Maxwell was trying to imply, Kevin still asked nonchalantly
" ok,....so what does that have to do with me"
Maxwell answered
" you are going to lead those people to go to Ring County. You are the only reliable person I can think of "
Kevin smiled and said
" thanks for your trust in me but what are we going to tell mom and the rest "
Maxwell said calmly as if he had everything under control
" I've taken care of that. You would be given a scholarship in school and you would have yo travel to Ring County because of it. That won't arouse suspicion. In the outside, you are going to learn there but you are actually going to represent the whole black circle. "
Kevin nodded in understanding and said
" okay, if that is all then I'm going. Bye "
Maxwell only nodded and Kevin went out. This was what he liked about that guy. He was sometimes so so easy to manipulate. Unlike his younger self, he mostly carried out task without questions but at the same time he could be extremely difficult to handle. Maxwell sometimes wondered what was going on in his mind. Kevin was like a complicated puzzle, very difficult to solve. He seems to be hot sometimes and simultaneously cold. This made Maxwell very restless. He seemed to control him but he didn't feel like he was really controlling him. That was why he made that move. He needed Kevin out of the way for the mean time and then think of a way to make him more useful. Kevin was indeed reliable at these things. He had to think things through fast because his great plans for Kevin was just a step away. But he couldn't help but think, he had really taking a liking into the boy. He even considered him as his son.
Meanwhile, Kevin who was walking lazily yo his room met Ron on the way. Ron was the only closest person to Kevin in the group. He had grew by his side and considered him as his big brother. He could be considered as Kevin reliable ally. He was also the only one in the group who knew about Kevin's disease. As for how he knew is a long story. After thier usual pleasantries, Ron said
" Spirit has talked to you about the upcoming event right. "
Kevin lazily nodded
" well I am also part of the team, going to Ring County, I just want to warn you,be weary of your dad, it seems he has sat a plan for you out there. "
Kevin placed both of his hands in his pockets and playfully winked at him, saying
" I'm good at playing this you know "
Ron smiled and silently went. He has grown a strong trust for Kevin and sometimes pitied him. He always wished nothing but the best for Kevin.
Kevin on the other hand entered his room with a serious face. In the headquarters of the black circle, he had his personal room where he normally rest when he is tired. He sat down with thoughtful expression. Defeating Maxwell was much more difficult than he had ever thought of. Maxwell was really secretive and even though, he trusted you,he wouldn't foolishly reveal things to you. Kevin was now 19 years old and he had that thought by this age he should have long gotten his revenge but he was wrong. Now he just had to play along with Maxwell. Even if the door is closed, that doesn't mean it can't be opened. There is always a way. But know he would have to think of a way to completely stop Maxwell from his madness. Kevin was now one of the youngest pharmaceutical scientist in the world. Although he's still not done with his studies, he had several underground pharmaceutical companies and Maxwell had been pressuring his men to produce more and more illegal drugs to his benefits. Now he had yo think s of a way to stop him before.
