After Makima reached an agreement with the Yamai sisters, Hayakawa Aki took them to complete their registration procedures.
As Wind Spirits and high-ranking Devils in the eyes of humans, the procedures they needed to go through should, in theory, have been much more complicated than those of regular humans.
However, with Makima's green light all the way, within less than a day, they had obtained their official identities.
They had officially transitioned from enemies of humanity to its allies.
This news spread across much of the world the moment the Yamai sisters entered the Public Security Department.
Their bounties were also naturally rescinded.
Though the news of the Wind Devils being recruited by the Devil of Control would certainly cause a stir internationally, there was little other countries could do about it.
After all, Makima's move, in a sense, had greatly benefited other countries.
Two Wind Devils under control were far better than two out-of-control Wind Devils.
Even if Makima couldn't fully control the Yamai sisters, it didn't bring much harm to other countries.
Because now that they had joined Japan's Public Security, if they caused trouble, it would be in Japan, and the damages and impact would be greatly reduced. The consequences would fall entirely on Japan.
More importantly, if the Yamai sisters, now under Japan's official identity, caused damage to the property of other countries in the future, those countries would have legitimate reasons to request compensation from Japan and apply pressure on the international stage.
In any case, Makima's move of accepting the Wind Devils into Japan's ranks was beneficial for other governments.
Time quickly passed, and soon it was deep into the night.
Outside a private villa in Tokyo, Hayakawa Aki walked out after parking the car.
Looking at the villa in front of him, he suddenly felt a sense of relief.
"Although Makima forced two Devils on me, it doesn't seem entirely like a bad thing," he thought.
Previously, as an official Devil hunter, he had lived in a cramped staff dormitory with Denji and Power, one Devil and one human.
Though three people could manage to live in such a small space, the condition was that his two roommates had to be normal people.
Unfortunately, neither Denji nor Power could be considered "normal."
Because of this, living in the staff dormitory had been nothing short of torment.
Just thinking about the various things that had happened before, he couldn't help but grit his teeth in frustration.
"What's wrong? You look like you want to kill someone," Kaguya Yamai asked as she walked out of the car and patted his left shoulder. "From now on, we're roommates too. If you need anything, just let me know."
Then, she leaned in quickly and whispered in his ear, "When it comes to killing Devils, I can cover for you. As long as you speak a few good words for me in front of Makima during the scoring, how about it?"
"Opposition, Kaguya, what you're doing now is outright bribery."
The last one to exit the car was Yuzuru Yamai, who sharply overheard Kaguya's whisper. She immediately struck Kaguya's back of the head with a chop, "I didn't expect Kaguya to be aware of her weakness compared to me and resort to such despicable means to influence the scoring. I won't accept it."
"I—I don't think I'm weaker than you!"
Having her scheme exposed, Kaguya Yamai quickly argued, "Makima also said earlier that maintaining good relations with the humans around us is also a part of the scoring criteria! I'm just getting a head start on earning points!"
"Smirk, Kaguya, you know the difference between maintaining good relationships and bribery. There's no need to argue with me," Yuzuru Yamai retorted.
"Cough cough!"
As the Yamai sisters began their usual verbal sparring, Hayakawa Aki coughed loudly twice.
After spending most of the day with them, he had slowly realized that these two Devils were unexpectedly easy to get along with.
They didn't carry the usual arrogance that many Devils had, nor did they have the habit of using force to dominate others.
If he didn't already know their Devil identities, he probably would have just thought of them as a couple of quirky sisters.
After getting a better grasp of their personalities and how to interact with them, Hayakawa Aki's wariness had decreased somewhat.
"As for the scoring, I'll follow Makima-sama's instructions and score objectively and fairly," Hayakawa Aki said seriously. "As long as you two can regulate your behavior and follow the rules, I'll give Makima-sama a positive evaluation."
Hearing this, the Yamai sisters proudly patted their chests and assured him that they would follow the rules.
Just as they were about to enter the villa to check out their new place, another black Public Security car pulled up.
The car stopped, and the door opened.
Soon, Denji and Power appeared, carrying bags and bundles.
"Oh, this is our new place? It looks fancy!" Denji exclaimed.
"The biggest room is mine! You all better move aside!" Power said excitedly, rushing into the villa.
"The two from just now, the guy is Denji, the girl is Power," Hayakawa Aki said briefly. "Later, you two should go meet them. After all, you'll be working together from now on, and it's better to get to know each other so you can have more chemistry."
"Alright, let's have a fight with them!" Kaguya Yamai said, cracking her knuckles.
"Agreed, fighting is the best way to understand each other," Yuzuru Yamai nodded.
"Uh..."
Looking at the Yamai sisters completely misunderstanding his words, Hayakawa Aki broke out in a cold sweat.
"There's no need to go that far..."
Meanwhile, in Japan's Cabinet Office.
Every important official in the Japanese government, including the Prime Minister, sat with solemn expressions in their respective positions.
In front of them stood Makima, head of the Anti-Devil Action Section Four.
After listening to Makima's report, the group began to murmur among themselves, their gazes betraying some dissatisfaction.
"At such a critical time, how could you take it upon yourself to recruit those dangerous individuals without Cabinet approval?" the Prime Minister asked in a deep voice. "Your control power cannot manage them. How can you ensure they won't pose a threat to Japan?"
"Recruiting them is the best option," Makima answered calmly. "Japan is just an island nation. If we don't control them quickly, future disasters may exceed our ability to cope."
"But that's not the reason for giving them official status!"
"Rest assured, Mr. Prime Minister. I can guarantee they are harmless."
At that moment, everyone's phones suddenly rang.
The Prime Minister looked at the message that had come in, and his gaze immediately sharpened.
"The two Devils you recruited are fighting with your subordinates. The residence allocated to them was destroyed, and they are requesting a new one."
The Prime Minister took a deep breath, tapping his fingers on the desk.
"Can you really guarantee they are harmless?"
"Yes, Mr. Prime Minister."
Makima answered coolly.
"Because if they truly are harmful, it won't just be one house destroyed."
