After Wouter parked his car and they walked down the long path past many tents, Celeste eventually found herself stopping in front of a restaurant specialising in noodles. Wouter, standing right next to her, looked at it sceptically.
"It doesn't look that good," he commented.
What he meant was that it didn't look appetising. The tent covering the entrance looked like it hadn't been washed in years, the floor outside stained by old oil, and the fan blowing was shaking as it produced minimal air. But she knew places like this had something unique to their dishes. And if they didn't try it, they'd be missing a lot.
She could smell the sweet aroma of soy sauce and the crisp smell of fried garlic. Everything mixed together beautifully among the elderly customers.
"You've been dodging bullets for how long now? You'll survive this."
Celeste went ahead and entered the stall, leaving Wouter laughing outside.
