She hadn't been entirely sure on what to expect from Hogwarts- Though the castle, the classes, and the people truthfully passed each one with flying colors. Whether it was the magical forest that apparently had all kinds of magical creatures, from centers and unicorns to very large talking spiders!
There was even a rumor of a giant serpent!
All of their classes were wonderfully whimsical- Whether it was the fact they had to use quill and ink, to the wand-waving, and not to mention the idea of potions! Hogwarts seemed to have a bit of every magical idea she'd read about in fairy tales!
And that wasn't even mentioning the food! The salivation-worthy feasts that everyone was served in the hall- Gods her parents would throw a hissy fit at the idea of so much of it going to waste- Presumably anyway, she wasn't sure what happened to the leftovers.
The castle was, well, just amazing- Even the students, her housemates anyway we're all people she could get along with really well! Even if that part wasn't something she'd been too worried about at the start considering Sev was studying here with her.
Well.
Almost all of her housemates.
The only really confusing thing about the castle was the student outside. The one she was spying- Watching- She grimaced at the word, it wasn't exactly better.
She shook her head.
The only confusing, and rather irritating part of her experience so far was a certain git who went by Sirius Black.
The same git outside, standing just before the large river in front of the castle-
It wasn't the usual view one got outside the window in the common room, but rather one she'd asked the fat lady for the previous day.
Evidently, most of the years above hadn't actually known they could change it. Though considering it was Hogwarts, none of them had been surprised, or particularly interested in the changing window.
Personally, she thought the river was much more pleasing to look at than the courtyard.
At least until now...
She watched as Sirius Black pointed his finger at the large bed of water, probably to insult the fishes or something. The boy was standing on the edge of it- Why a light push would have him fall in!
And no she wasn't worried about that at all, even if she knew a handful of Slytherins who'd be more than happy to do it.
She frowned as she-
"Whatchu' doing Lily?" A blonde head quickly appeared beside her, bemusement filling her gaze.
It took her a moment to remember the girl's name.
"Nothin' just watching the git outside." She crossed her arms.
Mary raised an eyebrow at her the moment she noticed which git she was talking about- Even if there was only onein their house as far as she was concerned.
A grimace quickly took over her dormmates face.
"Oh, what's he up to now..?" She questioned warily. "You don't think he's thrown someone into the river, do you?"
She shook her head.
"I've been here for a while," She shrugged. "Woulda' noticed that."
"Hmm, a while huh?" Mary snorted beside her. "I wonder why."
She gave her friend a frown. "I just want to make sure he doesn't cost us any more points."
"Uh-huh." Mary nodded. "I believe ya." A single beat passed. "Still it's a great view- The river I mean, how'd you know how to change it?"
"I asked the fat lady."
"Yeah, but like how'd ya know ya could do that?"
Lily shrugged.
"I heard Sirius talk to himself about the lady and how she might be able to control things in the tower." She frowned again. "The big black dog part was a little confusing though."
For some reason, that made Mary giggle even more.
"Poor guy," Mary shook her head. "Who woulda' thought someone so crazy would hide under all that pretty hair."
Lily's frown kept to her face.
"It's not that pretty."
"It's prettier than mine!" Mary remarked, affronted at the idea for some reason.
"'sides, I don't think he's crazy."
"He talks to himself."
Lily shrugged again. "Just thinks out loud I think- Doesn't make him crazy, just..." She pursed her lips as she thought of the word. "Confident? Or really obnoxious."
Mary blinked a few times at her, turning her attention away from the view briefly.
"What? Imagine if everyone could hear your thoughts! I'd be terrified!" She admitted, her gaze turning back outside. "It doesn't bother him at all!"
"Huh." Mary deadpanned. "Didn't think of it that way."
And before either of them could say anything they watched as a brief red light, startling them, was suddenly shot out of the boy in question's finger! The light moved a few feet away before, to their shock and horror, it exploded! The explosion was big enough to cover the boy and more!
The two of them stood there briefly frozen, before to more of their surprise, they watched as the smoke faded away and Sirius Black showed up completely unharmed, a shimmering blue globe surrounding him-
Lily twitched at the sight of the verydisappointed Black.
What was he expecting to happen!?
"...He's... Really something..." Mary choked out, an uneasy laugh coming out. "Not even using a bloody wand!"
She frowned at the other's language, though kept herself from saying anything about it.
Mostly because Sirius Black had promptly dropped on the floor, in a seated position and started magically drawing on the ground.
"...That's vandalism." Lily deadpanned. "Yup. He's vandalizing the castle."
"...We're going to lose more points aren't we?"
Lily let out a long sigh in agreement. "Honestly, why do we even bother?"
Needless to say, it was made worse at that moment as Professor McGonagall showed up as well, the older woman walking towards the ignorant git.
The two girls could practically feel the world slow down as they watched said professor not stop the vandalizing idiot- And presumably start coaching him on it! The woman pointed around with her own wand as she did so with a smile on her face!
"Oh my god, Professor McGonagall's going to cost us points!"
Needless to say, her outburst quickly drew their housemate's attention.
