CHAPTER 56: MISSING HUBBY IV
Diana sank back into her chair, a whirlwind of thoughts swirling in her head, a mix of excitement and apprehension bubbled within her. Could she pull off this surprise party and finally connect with her enigmatic husband? The pressure was on, but a spark of excitement flickered beneath the surface.
James remained a man who craved solitude despite having close friends. Planning a party for him would be a challenge, but Diana was determined to make it a success, a way to bridge the gap between him and the people who cared about him.
As Henry left, her mind buzzed with plans. But a dull throb behind her eyes signaled a coming headache. With a sigh, she straightened her shoulders and headed to her next meeting.

On Wednesday, the meeting with the guys wives went as planned. Diana arrived at the designated venue, a mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling within her.
Spotting four elegant women huddled in a corner, who barely spoke to each other, she recognized them from Henry's photo and approached with a smile.
"Hello ladies, I'm Diana."
They returned her greeting, their faces brightening as they introduced themselves one after the other - Grace Faraday, Monica Bridge stone, Valerie Stevens, and Sandra Lockwood.
"Wow!" Diana commented after they were done introducing themselves.
A comfortable silence settled as they studied each other, an unspoken understanding passing between them.
"Welcome to the family, Diana," Monica said warmly.
"Thank you," Diana replied, genuine appreciation softening her voice feeling a wave of relief. "I truly appreciate it."
Clearing her throat, she continued, "I actually requested this meeting because I noticed the strong bond between our husbands. It struck me that we, the women behind them, could benefit from similar support."
Heads nodded in agreement.
A thoughtful silence fell before Valerie spoke. "You're absolutely right, Diana. While we have our own lives and friends, no one quite understands the unique challenges of being married to men like ours."
"My thoughts exactly", Diana said and continued. "In a world where men like our husbands are the rulers of the economy, making us feel a tad....bit left out, we need to be there for and with each other through trying times in our marriages. Now i don't know for how long you have been married to them but am guessing it must not have been easy going through some major parts of your marriage alone. Am sure you all have friends that you can talk to, but none that will really understand unlike all of us here. You know coming here, i realized we all have one thing in common; we are tall, beautiful, kind, strong and almost married to the same kind of men, although most times i feel like mine is worse. But then, the essence is that we are always there for each other through thick and thin. I need us to create a space where one of us will whine, complain and act coquettish at the kind of man she's married to".
They all giggled at the last part.
By the time Diana was done with her speech, there was a resounding round of applause from the women and a chorus of "yays!" erupted.
A wave of agreement rippled through the group. Sandra chuckled. "Especially when they seem to rule the economic world, leaving us feeling superfluous. I agree with your earlier statement Diana"
The others laughed, the tension dissolving. Diana continued, "We're all intelligent, beautiful women, right? Yet, our husbands share a certain type of personality. Maybe not the easiest to handle at times."
"You could say that again," Monica admitted with a playful eye roll. "But that's where we come in, to support each other through thick and thin, right?"
"The world of men like our husbands..." Diana began, then paused, searching for the right words. "It can be isolating sometimes."
"Absolutely," Grace chimed in, her voice laced with a hint of wryness. "Which is why having each other is so important."
"Finally!" Monica exclaimed, throwing her arms in the air. "Where do I sign up?" And they all laughed.
"Ladies you have no idea how long I've been waiting for this kind of connection" Sandra said.
"Yeah me too" Valerie chorused. "Seriously Dana, i really think you're a godsend".
The girls laughed as Diana said to her "Dana huh, that's a new one, i love it. Well as long as its you ladies that are calling me the name"..
The ladies laughed as conversation flowed freely.
A wave of conversation washed over them.
They shared stories about their marriages, the joys and challenges of balancing careers with family life, and navigating the complexities of their husbands' personalities.
Diana learned that while the men seemed like a monolithic force, their wives knew them as individuals, each with their own quirks and vulnerabilities.
"It's funny, you know," Sandra remarked, a thoughtful glint in her eyes. "Coming here, I realized we have a lot in common. We're all strong, independent women, yet somehow drawn to these… enigmatic men."
A ripple of laughter filled the room. Enigmatic was certainly one way to describe their husbands.
Diana found herself yearning to know more about James through the lens of these women who knew him best, indirectly.
Laughter filled the room, forging a sense of easy camaraderie.
They spent the rest of the time getting to know each other, their conversations punctuated by laughter, good food, and shared stories.
As the hours flew by, they formed a bond that transcended mere acquaintanceship.
Before parting ways, Diana exchanged numbers with everyone and created a group chat, solidifying their connection.
They made plans for a future get-together, this time including their children. The warmth of newfound friendship filled the room as they finally said their goodbyes, each woman carrying a secret promise of support and understanding.
As the women departed, their faces glowed with the warmth of newfound friendship. Diana watched them go, a sense of satisfaction settling over her. Perhaps, together, they could navigate the complexities of their lives, forging a sisterhood built on understanding and shared experiences.
