Another cycle of his life began.
This time, he had been given a different kind of challenge.
"Aww, look at our new cute baby! Let's call her Magna!" said a woman with a fairly beautiful visage.
Next to her stood a muscular man, who nodded in a daze as he looked at his first child.
"That's it! I will make sure she will become the greatest in whatever she wants to be!" He said with vigour as his voice shook the room.
It took Magnus 3 years.
3 years to accept the cruel reality. He became a woman and a flat one at that. Much to his relief, there existed a remedy for his own problem.
Due to the nature of the world, it had already entered a modern era and, at the same time, magic could be found anywhere in abundance.
A king from 50 years ago. Had 7 children, all of them were women. At first, he accepted the reality that there would be no male heir to his throne.
Yet, one of his children wished to fight. Not play or talk, but fight. To shed tears, blood and sweat and she grew more and more in strength.
Her political means were abundant as well. The king prepared a decree that would create an exception for her to ascend the throne, however she struck first.
She travelled the continent and eventually, with the help of an archmage and grandmaster alchemist.
Created a potion. Gender change potion.
In a true sense, a person would be reborn and their body would decompose before the DNA itself changed.
Then, the person would grow at a massive speed before they reached their previous state. 20% of the power would be lost, but the price was small.
Hence, Magnus found his goal as early as he was 3 years old.
His parents... Well, they were quite energetic. If they didn't spend time trying to pamper Magnus, they would be trying to produce his new sibling.
And they sure weren't quiet...
Much to Magnus' relief, they stopped once he asked about the weird sounds coming from their room from 10PM up until 4 AM.
Well, at least they erected a soundproofing magic barrier. In this world, mages were studying an ancient language.
No need for mana cores, hearts or whatever. Their one task remained simple, to understand the language before they said it out loud.
Mages were more like singers in this world as they stirred up the surrounding mana to dance and persuade the mana to turn into spells.
With his knowledge of different languages from his past life. And an unknown language that seemingly encompassed all of them.
Magnus' proficiency with said language grew at massive speed.
Like a shooting star. Magna became the prodigy known to the entire world.
Although undeveloped, her beauty was nothing to scoff at. And her talent alone aroused the urge of many men to conquer her.
To avoid those useless bumpkins wishing for something impossible. Magna had long announced her orientation.
Almost none were swayed.
Left with no other option, Magnus had to attend the all girls imperial academy.
There, the greatest noblewomen learned etiquette, horsemanship, archery and many others.
Most were recreational, but the funding alone made it so that the training grounds weren't far behind the most prestigious academy.
Magna quickly became a household name.
Some girls even fell in love with her, and her popularity reached the zenith. And then a change came.
For some reason, one of the imperial princes attended the academy. His reputation as a scumbag known to all, but no one stopped him.
Complains of every noble were stopped by their parents. Even the exchange princesses couldn't change the outcome.
He made quite the waves once he began to attend.
Day 1 he groped a freshman and forced a poor daughter of a baron to kneel and lick his shoes or her father would soon cease to exist.
This humiliation gradually went up in ranks. In a month he moved on to viscounts and counts and yet none of their parents had complained.
As if the whole world bowed to that scumbag. In the third month, since the prince began attending.
A shocking piece of news arrived. The entire harem of the emperor and the father of said prince had not only slept with the prince, but they refused to sleep with the emperor.
Then, a few days later. The emperor passed away, and in his will, the imperial prince gained everything.
His hands tainted the daughter of a marquis before they inevitably touched the duke.
The adults did nothing. No reaction, and when someone wished to leave the school, the request would be denied.
To cause a ruckus? They would soon be tasted by the now emperor once caught.
Economics, politics and social stability. As if they ceased to exist as the empire ran smoothly without any problems when, in fact, no one took care of it.
Famines that were common, droughts or floods. They had gone radio silent.
The populace began to revere the emperor for some reason while he spent his days tainting everyone he could get his hands on.
Magna in this world had a full name. Magna Rose from the grand duke family that helped the imperial family to establish the empire almost thousand years ago.
Magnus' parents that supported him with, now looked different, quite scary.
"Oh dear. Don't you want to be the empress? Don't worry, the imperial prince has a good reputation and would only pamper you." The mother said.
"She's right, you know? His majesty is the most perfect emperor in history." The father said with an almost fanatic light in his eyes.
And then the day came.
The emperor reached for Magnus, however; it didn't go as well as the emperor would have liked. Or maybe it brought more flavour?
With his training since childhood. And the need to hide his strength. The mages that forced anyone who resisted were reduced to mere dust.
He waited for the retribution, but the emperor didn't make a move. Instead, his target turned to a foreign princess.
She hailed from the west, and she always smiled. Her gentle embrace stopped many of the nobles from taking the end.
Her father was an emperor of a much more powerful country. Didn't respond with help.
Even he seemingly followed the trend and told her that she would be engaged to the emperor in order to strengthen their bonds.
Ever since he saw the atrocities, the prince did. Magnus didn't make a move because he felt no sympathy for them.
He understood their plight, but his goal of obtaining it back held a higher priority than forfeiting his life.
To go against the empire. A fool thought that would end only in annihilation.
When Magnus saw the princess and her eyes, which started to lose its beautiful luster, something deep inside him told him that he would regret it.
If he didn't save her. If he didn't take her hand to run away.
He would regret it forever.
Magna's melodic voice sounded as a barrier shrouded the academy. With a few sweeps, the subpar mages were slain.
The more competent ones received injuries. In a flash, Magnus took the princess into his embrace and used the teleportation.
Magic he himself invented. The imperfect spell caused some injuries and excess use of mana.
Still, he escaped. Not long after, the world turned against them and called them traitors of humanity.
Magnus didn't regret his choice. The princess introduced herself as Iris, and both of them survived in the wild.
Occasional news from the outside world came. The emperor somehow united the entire world.
Even the young emperors joined his harem. Day in and night, they were being pursued by the entire world.
And then the fateful strike came.
Under a beautiful moonlight, Magna and Iris sat. Iris leaned over and seemingly whispered a few words.
Then the bloody droplets reflected the moonlight as Magnus looked at her in disbelief.
Her face morphed from the kind person he knew to something different. Mages in black knight armor appeared.
The battle began.
Although betrayed since day 1, he never truly trusted her. His instincts always told him to stay with her if he didn't wish to regret something, but the regret itself didn't lie in her.
For the first time. He unleashed his most powerful attacks.
Soon enough, the princess took her last breath, accompanied by the greatest mage division the empire had.
Healing magic. The one type that did not exist in this world. He bandaged the wound and slowly walked ahead.
An ethereal song calmed down the surroundings as he walked. Magnus didn't know how long he walked for.
He just found himself in a bed. Its comfort left much to be desired. Still, he looked around.
A normal family house made out of wood. Some tools, a kitchen and a single bed in a single room.
"Oh! You are awake." A girl said, who sat on the single chair.
She introduced herself as Airis, and his recovery began. The name struck his nerves at first.
But something deep inside him kept telling him that he found the one. A month passed under her care and he could now walk and run.
He told Airis about his journey, and in those eyes he saw nothing evil. The thing that corrupted even his parents wasn't there.
While recovering, he taught Airis about magic and how to use it. Meanwhile, he changed his inner goal.
The potion became secondary. Now he wanted to take revenge.
Although he didn't want to think about it, his father and mother were beautiful people too and anyone that came across the emperor would not be spared.
In just a year. Airis became a powerful advanced mage just three tiers below the absolute apex.
Three years then passed. They were called pure evil from the numerous assassinations they did against the emperor.
Yet, no matter what they did. How much they grew in strength.
The emperor always survived. At one point, an ancient dragon awakened and soon turned into his harem member.
Their struggle continued. The emperor never grew in strength. His harem around him did, though.
From dragons to angels serving an actual god. To a god himself.
No matter how Magnus and Airis grew, it would just add one more powerful harem member to the emperor's harem.
So, a final and last ditch offensive began.
It ended in one word. Failure.
And the price he had to pay was to watch.
As the god reverted the effects of the potion. Magnus had to watch Airis next to him.
His heart couldn't watch, though. For the first time in the history, someone cast magic not through beautiful singing.
But through hatred.
Darkness engulfed the capital and soon turned into a forbidden zone.
One where the magic dares not to enter...
