A few weeks later Chris was shot in the courthouse by a disgruntled plaintiff. He stepped out to talk to a senior judge regarding a legal issue. The perpetrator shot him from point-blank range and tried to run. He dragged away and locked up. He was incapacitated for a few days but he managed to get back on his feet.
I walked out of the parking to towards the in-patient building when Weird pinned me to the wall. He kissed me vigorously and he cupped my face with one hand and the other stroked my back. "Sabrina, why did you chose him? I thought you were meant for me. I love you more than he does. He can't protect you, I can." I didn't answer him so he got so angry that he punched the car. The car alarm blared which distracted him for few moments for me to escape. I was scared I ran away like a crazy person.
I told Chris everything and he promised to take care of it. He talked to the army and they asked him to stay away from me. This made him chase me even more. He stood out in the pouring rain soaked to the bone till I drove home from work.
He stood out in the blistering heat outside a restaurant watching me chatting with a classmate on a lunch date.
When the next nightmare came crashing in he was there to fight tooth and nail. He came at James with everything but the kitchen sink. He fought and bled while I was tied to a table and was bleeding badly. He had slit my throat but the cut wasn't deep. In the end, James died falling three-story down onto some iron rods poking out. He was skewered like tandoori chicken. Weird picked me up and carried me to the nearest hospital. All the time he said absolutely nothing just focused on reaching the hospital before I bleed out. He kicked the door and screamed, "Someone please help me. She is bleeding out." The doctor looked up from his notes and saw it was me. He threw what he was holding and screamed for a gurney and I was whisked to the operation theatre with the speed of a bullet.
He waited for me to come out and when I did he kissed me again made it clear I was going to be his wife sooner or later. I implored, "Could you please let it go. I am now someone else's wife." All it ever do was amuse him, he wasn't fazed by this knowledge. I asked him curiously, "Did you slash his tires and windows?" He gave me a look that neither confirms nor denies his actions. He worked for the covert half of the army so obviously, he would never admit what he did. "Plausible deniability" My declaration only made him laugh hard.
I walked three steps when Adam came and escorted me to my Ferrari SF90 Stradale. He opened the door to let me in and Weird asked Adam, "How did you find us so soon." Adam answered, "Dr. Whitmore is the founder and financier of this hospital. Everyone knows to call me if she is brought in. It was drummed into all of them the day this hospital was built." This realization annoyed him greatly but he decided that this is a conversation for another time. He watched as Adam drove us away from him and towards Chris.
Fin was waiting for my arrival, "Mini mom are you ok? Did James do that to you? Where is he?" I waved my hand and Adam answered all questions. Di was upset about the newest in the list of stalkers that in his fear he called Crimson, Indigo, and Black Swan (Edge's ex-fiance who works at the CIA) each twice. I hugged both of them and walked to clean myself up before Diana gets here. If she sees me like this she would go into a deep depression. She is still recovering from the death of her actual parents. She trusts me because I spend more time with her than her real parents did when they were alive. She was used to people calling me mom that she imitated them. She came and saw the bandages on my neck and spend the next few hours crying. We struggled to console her but finally, Chris got her to calm down. We tucked her in bed and sat down to talk about Weird becoming a disturber of the peace.
